Annie wonderfully written post..........
Arjun has indeed grown as a actor during the couse of MJHT.
He has portrayed the character of Mayank in a way that now many girls try to find a guy like Mayank.
He has said in many interviews that the only similarity between him and Mayank is that they both love their Mom. isse we can understand that for him to portray a character unlike him would have been difficult but he still did it and did it so well that he won our hearts.....
In the last week his expressions as Mayank were outstanding , he potrayed a guy on the verge of loosing the girl he loves so well.........
AB an actor par excellence...........👏👏........... i can only say this much...........

U must be wondering why I bought Picasso in here.....well......
Raphael was an Italian painter and was known for his perfection in his paintings. Picasso.... guess everyone knows. The point is.....you can perfect an art by practicing it but to bring a realistic, unfettered, direct, uninfluenced approach that a child is able to bring/express is hard to master. It may not be perfect but it is beautiful and touches ones heart. Only because it is not crafted .....it just happens naturally.
Interesting analogy there Muski, the truth is that AB is a far better actor for just these things..his child-like innocence and his natural approach
I don't call Arjun a perfect actor but he brings that childlike innocence to his performance. His own personality, experience, mood and even craziness is fed into the scenes which gives it more personal and real touch than fictional.
Agree!! Its strange how comfortably he does that. You can see that he is not the character he plays. Mayank and Arjun are poles apart, yet he brings Arjun into Mayank in a subtle manner. This is both his positive and negative quality
An actor is given a script but is not told how to express his emotions. It is up to the actor how he portrays those emotions, how well he understands his character and how by his expressions and gestures can convey the story. Best thing about Arjun is that he doesn't just act he reacts. Which makes him a very flexible actor. Not only in terms of portraying different roles or emotions but also while working with different costars. His acting adjusts to his costars performance. He neither overpowers his costar nor gets overshadowed. He works with them and that brings out a balanced performance. I still remember Mayank and Diya scene when he consoled her after that Jail sequence.....totally different personalities, totally different class of actors, both with different styles yet it was a perfectly balanced scene performance wise even though he is more experienced as an actor I would say than Navina.......not comparing really as I love Navina in diya's role.....
He shares a great chemistry with his co-stars (ok, I m not talking abt Rati here) ..be it Mohit, Sanaya, Navina, jas , abhishek or his onscreen mum vaishnavi..
Its sometimes hard to believe that Mayank's mum is not his real mum,..they have a natural rhythm to the portrayal of their mother son relationship that it comes across as both natural and real.
There have been times when Arjun missed on expressions and probably my Picasso quote explains the reason for it. As I believe he is not just an actor who follows the script religiously. He connects to the emotions or scenes and if he is unable to do so for whatever reason be it his mood or not accepting/liking the script he looses his act for a sec. But, bounces back the moment he gets himself to connect to it.
I used to find it weird when he gave those blank expressions, his entire face and voice modulation would be just perfect yet his eyes would show no expression, I used to dislike it a lot earlier, then I realised, it happened often when he is not convinced about what he is doing. Once I realised that it became easier to accept.
Now a days I see no misplaced expressions..he has been nothing short of perfect.
I actually like the fact that he needs to find that connection to enjoy acting as today he might not have a say or choice in what he is given to act but that nature of his will surely help him make good choices in future.
As much as he connects with the character or situations, his off screen equations dont seem to affect the performances (other than in a good way). Like if he'd had a tiff with his co-stars or his director or writer, that doesnt come across in the scene. ITs only the character that he needs to connect to
About terrace scene......there were different opinions about his acting in that scene. In my opinion it was an extremely tough scene for specially him to enact. Rati as nupur had to show love and longing for him.and she did it beautifully. On the other hand Arjun as Mayank had to portray a wide array of emotions. When he turned he was glad to see her.....within seconds sadness added.....then withing seconds he realised that he needed to be strong for her, along with which he had to express his love, concern, fear, longing, and helplessness. And all this had to be done by just expressions......no words.....People who feel he was not up to the mark I wanna just say for once stand in front of a mirror and try bringing all these emotions to your face together. guess wudn't be easy.....but he pulled it off effortlessly and for that he deserves full credit.
I agree word to word on this muski 👏 👏
and I m sure most of the people who really saw the sequence appreciated it.
Infact, the scene is a success if it reaches out to the viewers and they could feel the emotions..
so, in this case it was both Arjun and Rati who made the scene so beautiful.
For which I thankyou Annie.....as your post surely appreciates his talent. and i'm sorry for such a longggggggggg post.....but i guess u wud have expected that from me......😆
thank U for writing this...:)
