diya hav I ever told u that I LOVE ur posts ?? they are sooo awesome..that everything u say either abt gunjan aur samrat and SG in gerneral, makes me fall in love wit them ALLL over again ..

neways, now coming back to the character of gunjan..

no doubt it began as a cliche story..and the cliched character ever...YET, there is something abt her thats soo not cliche..her simplicity, her innnocence and her dignity stand out..and make her different from the rest of the crowd...

rem the scene wher sam said "tumhari responsibility mere kandhon pan rakh di hain.." very gently she reminds him 'main apni responsibility khud le sakti hoon samrat.." and she meant every word of that..because she really IS mature enuf to take care of herself, that she has always bee take care of by nupur is another story altogether!

the way she seeks promise from him..."jab bhi tumhe kuch batana hoga tum sabse pehle apni best friend ko aake bataoge.." was THE line for me..because that indicates that beneath the deep love that they feel for each other is still rooted an even deeper friendship and understanding, that will never ever get lost! and thats the besuty of their love story...it stems from friendship...and this has turned the absolutely cliche "cool dude meets shy girl" love story into a "SaJan" love story...

they are simple MAGICAL..in every which way !!!

Funny, I never liked Gunjan when the show started - she was typical cry baby which I most detested. (Before you start throwing shoes, let me clarify - I saw exactly two episodes and stopped watching). I didn't watch MJHT for ages and what brought me back was the same Gunjan and how the most cliched, hackneyed love story of stud boy meets timid shy girl had changed into a such a different and poignant love story which actually felt real. What hooked me to Gunjan were the scenes where Dia tells gunjan about the bet, Gunjan, hurt to the core, hides her feelings, carries on with the exams and with helping Samrat because she will not break her promise and the best - the way she breaks their friendship after the exams. No shouting, screaming, sobbing - that Gunjan was amazing - quiet, yet strong, unbearably hurt by someone she had learned slowly to trust, yet dignified to the core even after what she saw as his betrayal.

I think we lost that Gunjan completely during the disastrous Sheena track and that's the Gunjan I want to see back. She had a strength of character at that time, which the creatives completely forgot when they turned her into a weeping willow. I think that Gunjan is slowly coming back, I loved the last few episodes including the date episodes where she initiates all their talks, be it about remaining friends or the family talk, and the little bits of teasing and masti. She always had low confidence, and the months and months of the 'being in love but it's not returned' destroyed it further - hopefully now her confidence levels should go up and it would be a great way to bring about a gradual change in character.

She is starting off a bit now - most of their hugs have been initiated by her, if you notice and they've all being meaningful and within a context of some strong emotions - they haven't just been random. But yeah, I want her now to start being more confident with the rest of the gang now as well and showing more of her intelligence and maturity there as well.

have I been rambling? 😉 Oh well ... 😆 really do love this girl! shall stop now !!!

lmaoo nope! ive enjoyed reading! and i think the sheena phase was def teh wors! it totally destroyed her character.. dunno wat the cv's were thinking! they thought this was a saas bahu show for a second!
that tortre just went on for ages! making her cry and think of samrat and nothing else!
but glad they got her back! theres soo much more that can be done and i really hope they do.. and as her confidence is growing i hope they give her a storyline to herself.. yes with samrat bt something that makes her stand out for a change..😉

gee, thanks, mads! 😳 😳 😳 and likewise - I love reading your posts too! 😊

red @ oh yes, I remember - again I loved that bit - and that gave a glimpse of her inner strength, which I hope to god surfaces now a bit more. She lets people (nupur mainly) take care of her, but whenever she has been down, she has cried a bit (okay - a lot 😉 ) then picked herself up and carried on.

blue @ for me it was another aspect as well - smart girl has realised that the basic problem between Mayur was miscommunication and is saying that let this not happen to us! That's why this love story feels like the real lifelong kind of love, it has depth and maturity, in spite of their differences, it's not just an infatuation or summer romance kind of stuff.
and honestly, hats off to the creatives for making this kind of story - even though they did drag the Sheena track 😕 - and most of all to Monaya for turning the most cliched characters in the book into such an amazing loveable and totally JANUABLE couple!

nice topic eloquent
i guess almost all the points r covered here

it's jus a lil add-on to that

1st thing is that, gunjan is the only who had only a lil a change in her character n yet she had some very needed improvement in her character like se has become more confident... at first, she wasn't the same gunjan at all @ her confidence n nervousness - i personally love this change , the bets thing here is this happened bcoz of samrat, though it's not a point here

2ndly- her care for nupz has been chaging invaribly till now
at 1st she used 2 care for her... i used 2 love their bond.. as the story moved, her character was runied 2 the doom
the only she had in her mind n words was "samrat, samrat n samrat" n during sheena's track, it was sacrifice, sacrifice n sacrifice - though her charcter needs sacrifice in her, but it was over done.....that's the tym wen i felt like hating my most fav charater frm this show

3rdly - finally, wen she came 2 know that she didn't lose her 1st love, she became herself, her care for nupz, her confidence..everything returned automatically

this is wat she was till now
cmng the actual topic n the developments i want 2 see
1st thing, how much ever her character may b developed, i want her innocence, simplicity 2 b the same
n then she can become more confident... while talking 2 others n also with samrat
cmng 2 romance... for a few more days, she can b the same as she is now, but as the days pas, she should become comfortable n yet the her shyness should b retained

i have few more points 2 add, will ad them wen i remember, atm i cant think much, i'm in monaya drool mood

another point I really cud talk abt...

the terrace scene jus before sam is abt to leave morena..that was sooooo awesome..and that was when I realised jus HOW much samrat loves gunjan..those chand lines had some inherent deep meaning in them..coz he said "lagta hain mera chand mujhse chipne wala hain.." he never said that it was gonna get away from him...she will always be deep whithin his soul..and its not jus those lines spoken on the terrace tht indicate tht..its the way their story has been progressing right from the beginning..their bond is soo beautiful..and soo captivatingg..

now coming back to the character of gunjan...well, I was jus watching some of the old scenes of SG..u kno, the scene wher he first hears her singing..and then she's like "aap kisiko mat batayein.." LMAO 😆 and then I watched the v-day scene...WOW..wat a transformation..and now, their first date..that "mere alava" line..😳😳 indeed a HUGE transformation...

she has been one character who has been consistent, yet she has also been one character who has had various shades to her persona too..samrat taught her to be confident..and that worked well for her..

Awesome topic Eloquent !! Fab replies Mads, Diya, Naz, and Kavs !! 👏

Coming to the topic, I think CV's are already doing a brilliant Job with Gunjan's character. In fact since SG's love story has started, I'm amazed at the hindsight they have shown in the growth of both Gunjan and Sam's character. I'm amazed because someone I'm very close to is exactly like Gunjan, and her bestfriend is just like Sam and their lovestory exactly like SG's !! I have seen them as best friends and i have also seen them make the transition from best friends to lovers and I see a lot of these two when I watch SG !!

I know all of you thought that Gunjan's character was destroyed during the Sheena track, but it wasnt !! She was playing her character to the hilt !! When u saw her crying and not caring for her elder sis and for her world to be revolved around Samrat, you saw that as a weakness, nobody tried to put herself in her shoes or even comtemplated about her character sketch. I'll try to explain as best as I could.

First about her crying all the time !! Gunjan is a gurl who came from Morena to Mumbai, who was extremely shy and introvert, yet very smart, intelligent and has an inner strength to speak when someone does or say something wrong. But beneath all this strength also lay a lot of insecurities about herself. We all saw how even in Morena, Nupur was always the centre of attention. Gunjan was always into studies and into books and she was least bothered about all this, but at the end of the day she has a heart of gurl, so when she joined Excel and met Samrat, he saw the inner beauty in her. Remember how surprised she was when Bhavesh called her beautiful !! :) Its no wonder she fell for Sam so hard and so fast, because he made her fall in love with herself. He didnt try and change her, but he just brought out the real Gunjan in her, who was capabale of doing anything she set her mind too. Can you really blame her for sheding tears or for crying when she had lost her best freind and the guy she loves more then anything ?? Had any of us been in her place, wouldnt we sacrifice our love and happiness for the guy we love ??

As for her not caring about Nupur, I never thought of Gunjan as uncaring for her sister. If you had an elder sister, you would understand this a lot better. Nupur has always chose to keep her feelings to herself, wether it was happiness or pain. Whereasd Gunjan is like an open book, anyone can read what she is feeling on her face. I mean even Benjy can tell when she is bothered or upset about something. You really cant call her selfish or uncaring when Nups doesnt ever let on what she is feeling or going through !! Now you will think as sister you should realise it yourself, but if your sister is the type to hide her feelings and emotions ever, then trust me you will never realise what she is going through ever. Had Gunjan been selfish or uncaring, she would have been 'Samrat, Samrat, Samrat' even after Nupur decided to tell her about herself and Mayank, or when she found out about Nupur and Mayank breaking up. You all see her caring for Nupur now as a growth, I dont ! She has always been very lovng and caring for Nupur, but itts just Nupur have given her very few instances to show that love and concern.

I was only apprehensive about how will Gunjan be once SG has confessed and CV;s hasnt let me down again. I'm loving this growth in her development and it is banh on ! Trust me, I know what I'm talking about !! As far as Gunjan and Sam's character are concerned, I have no complaints with the CV's at all !! I do wish one thing though, I would love to see Gunjan inter5act with other characters ! Do some masti with Benji and Uday, like she did at the time of holi, or bond with Diya, because she is her sister too.

Ok I have rambled on about Gunjan enough ! I tend to do so when it comes to her !!! 😆 Thank u all for reading so patiently !!! 😛😆

nice post naveen...

however I do disagree on the point of gunjan's character NOT being destroyed during the sheena phase...and yes, this is say AFTER being in her shoes..because i hav experienced exactly what she has gone thru in her life..and I m jus as sensitive as she is.. !!! yes, even I used to love a guy who had been a very good friend of mine..and he didnt love me back..and I was depressed for a long time after that..BUT I was able to cope up wit tht..because I saw thru other aspects of my life..I realised that ther was prob more to life than what I didnt get..THIS helped me cope up wit my 'heartbreak'..if I wer to use tht term ( its too huge and melodramatic I dont like to use it ..) I feel thats jus life.. yes, she IS a lot more shy and reserved than me..but deep down, I can very well relate to her, coz jus like her..even I cant say no to ppl..eve I tend to help the wrong ppl a lot..and I cant change myself! hence I do agree tht prob the way she sacrificed her love for sheena was exactly what I wud hav done..yet, it wud hav been my responsibility to tell my best friend whe sheena went wrong tht she wasnt the right gilr for him...AND instead of crying over the fact tht I didnt get the guy i loved..i wud hav felt happy tht he got what he wanted...and went on in my life...had the CVs elaborated on gunjan's "life" beyond samrat at tht point, maybe the character wudnt hav been ruined soo much during tht phase...

also, she is shown to be such an intelligent person..why didnt she speak up more maturely during the court cases? agreed she was more worried abt him..but hasnt she learnt from him that she shud be confident..then she shud hav been able to giv him the strength..not cry for him..because deep down she was soo absolutely sure that he wasnt guilty..

anyways, in a way..all the 'samrat samrat' phase of hers made one things sure..n that was tht she behaved in a stupid manner and she herself admits it..that makes her a very real person who does commit mistakes once a while..however jus that - 'once a while'..being the thinking person she is, she will now think 1000 times before repeating what she did...

however, i wud like to thank CVs for potraying and developing both S and G's characters soo unbelievably beautifully...right from the first epis..till now, when they fall in love...they turned this story into a totally unique one !!!

Mads I understand the points you have described, but like you said she is more introvert and shy then you but she is also from a very small town and have lived a very sheltered life !! Can you really say that you never had a male friend ever before this guy ?? So if the answer is no, then you have not put urself in her shoes properly !! And who said she didnt move on or wasnt hapopy for Samrat ?? She had the strength to end their friendship for his happiness because she knew Sam would never be able to make a deicsion like this !! She moved on and never establish contact with Sam despote his attempts ! She has shed tear only when it she couldnt bear the pain anymore !! As for telling Samrat that Sheena wasnt the right gurl for him, how could she have ? Becuase according to Gunjan. sheena was just insecure about their friendship and Gunjan being the mature gurl she is thought that Sheena was just threatened !!

As for the court case, again Gunjan was in her character. I know she is intelligent and could have come up with a lot of points, but again she is extremely upset and disturbed and something like a court case is something very huge for her !! After all she has led a very protective and sheltered life !! And more then that if you will notice, both Sam's and Gunjan's characters are as such that they are such honest and goodhearted ppl that they think everyone is like that ! Sam new RV was no a ice guy, but even he could never imagine that RV would stoop to something like this !! Mayank on the other hand could figure out what RV was upto because he has always been very street smart !! He had to be to study in a college like Excel and to achive his goals !! Intelligence is not the only thing one needs in a situation like this !! 😊
