Tas, sonali, kayamath_fan2 – I agree with you!
Kavya, myownarea and all others who agreed with kavya,
You have a point and I see where you're coming from, but I still don't agree entirely. I don't think that one scene was THE realization – it's been building up over the last so many episodes starting with the jail track.
My version of Sam's realization – hold your breath, this is going to be long!
Starts with Sam, king of dhakkans chanting his 'we're just friends, best friends' mantra at every beat, breaking G's heart and frustrating all SG fans.
Needs not just a push but a few rocks at his head to knock some sense into him.
Rock no 1 – pool party: Sheena – Gunjan loves you
Sam's reaction – complete denial – how dare you say that, what nonsense, it's a lie!
BUT – start of confusion – he doesn't call even though he wants to, feels things have suddenly become awkward between them.
Rock no 2 – Sheena in jail – Forget Gunjan's feelings, you love her.
Sam – still in denial – what nonsense, Sheena has a dirty mind, no one thinks that.
BUT – doubts start – Tam, Mayank, Dia all thought that.
But Sam the dhakkan doesn't want his cosy world changed, plus he's just got his best friend back so refuses to think about it.
Rock no 3 – Kulkarni the Cupid (who apparently has nothing better to do as all the chors in Mumbai are on holiday) says why are you waiting for her to 'palat'?
Sam – still in denial (that's why he's king of dhakkans) – I'm not waiting for her to palat, I'm not gonna look around.
BUT – (thinks) why didn't she palat, she always looks back.
Rock no 4 – Kulkarni again – sho shweet, you both are holding hands.
Sam withdraws hand quickly, awkwardness now in full swing.
Sam gets bail, RV passes remark about G, Sam's protectiveness, worried not about himself, but about G's reputation.
Okay, this is still very slow, now need some bigger rocks or boulders.
Boulder no 1 – Gunjan's hug
Not the hug of friends – that was Dia and Sam. This is like he can't let her go.
Denial phase out of the window, 'best friends' out of the window, now into the "what's happening to me" phase. Holds her hand – why am I holding her hand, I've held her hand before, but why am I holding her hand?
At the party, waiting for G, only thinking about G, calls Dia Chashmish.
Boulder no 2 – Gunjan enters, he sees her smiling khul ke for the first time in ages, is mesmerized (don't blame you, Sammy even we saw her smiling after eons!!!)
Further into "what just happened?? What's wrong with me? Why am I thinking only about her? Why am I seeing her everywhere?" phase.
Boulder no 3 - Gunjan in red fantasy (she's much more sensible in his dreams than in real life at the moment) – look into your heart, Samrat.
And finally he looks, and says – I want you around me all the time. ALMOST there – but not quite.
Song KN – again fantasy Gunjan touches his face and smiles at him (told you she's smarter in his dreams) and he starts flying.
When you stop laughing, I'll carry on.
He comes back to earth, asks – why didn't I give your friendship band back, why, when I see you, do I feel I don't need anything more? – he asks this but he already knows the answer – THIS is the realization.
( if they did less monologues, and talked more to each other, they would have been together years ago!)
So when he sees her again and tells her to come close to take the bracelet, he already knows what he feels – that's why the confidence with which he tells her to come close. He just puts it into words later when he sees G in red and refuses to give back the bracelet.
This is the realization according to me – because I would hate it if what you guys said was true and it was the kiss that made him realize! That's just not SG to me! Though you have a point, instead of a neck kiss, they could have just a very close moment – though I've seen neck kisses in other serials before, and here it was the SG/Monaya chemistry that made it sizzle so much, plus the fact that they've never had such scenes before at all.
Sheesh – I hope the creatives spend as much thought and energy into making these characters as we do in analyzing them! Note to self – Diya, get a life!
