Ok I have very limited knowledge of books n movies so I'll just state the very recent ones....I don't even remember Raj-Simran much 🤔😆

I LOVEEE Aditya of JWM! My fav ever! Whatever he did for Geet and how he loved her regardless of what she felt towards him 😳
And also Prem of Vivah. His simple yet romantic side 😳
Lemme think of some more...

@ Rinky nice topic! I have so much to say... as always 😆.

Besides the characters of MJHT I like William Dobbin from Vanity Fair. Dobbin's romance revolves around Amelia Sedley, one of the protagonists. I liked his character the most because he portrays what defines love for me.

Well here's a quick background: Amelia was engaged to Dobbin's best friend George. George was compelled by Becky, a cynical protagonist, to not keep his promise of marriage with Amelia. However, Dobbin who secretly loved Amelia, suggested to George that he shouldn't lose Amelia just because of someone like Becky. Thus, George and Amelia ended up marrying. Later when George died, Dobbin cared for Amelia and her son and never stopped Amelia from obsessing over George. The simple and sweet gestures by Dobbin never caught Amelia's eyes until Amelia found out about how George was convinced by Dobbin to marry her. Finally Dobbin and Amelia end up marrying.

I don't know why but Dobbin for me stood out in this novel. He was very genuine towards his feelings, her feelings, he just waited for her, he never compelled her or tricked her. He could have asked George to marry Becky instead of Amelia, but no he did the opposite --- he didn't want her or his friend to be hurt. Even though Dobbin's character is bit unrealistic, because human nature is dark, destructive, and selfish, but love is beautiful, heart warming, and selfless. Love is sacrifice for that special one, could be ur sister, mom, dad, boyfriend, husband, whoever. Dobbin did exactly that, he sacrificed his feelings to see the one he loved happy, his friend and his love.

There are so many other fictional characters that have their own strengths and weakness. For me in Bollywood movies Geet from Jab We Met (even though I dislike kareena so much!, no offense to any1), in MJHT Nupur (I love Rati--- sorry going off topic a bit), in Hollywood movies Charlotte (the spider in the movie) from Charlotte's web. All three of these characters share a similarity a type of inspiring quality, which is to live to the fullest and build a positive aroma around you so that every1 else smiles ---- there shouldn't be a place for distress or anxiety. Geet brought harmony in Aditya's life, Nupur brought harmony in Mayank's and Charlotte brought harmony in Wilbur's.

Ohye lucky lucky ohye!!🤗 I reallllyyy like your description of Dobbin from Vanity Fair....really makes me want to read the book.
As for Geet, I agree---I personally think Kareena over-acts instead of acts...but I really liked the protrayal of Geet(even though I thought she was acting like Karishma!) Geet was carefree, romantic, and independent. She held her own and owned up to her mistakes.
I love NUPUR the most in MJHT😊

oh oh I'm here to add more
I'm going to be the one in million, who will say...I love RAJ from DDLJ
Raj wasn't a hero/filmy/idealistic...he was normal. He had many affairs, but yet still yearned for the one. Even when he found the ONE, he wasn't sure if he was worthy anymore due to his past...but yet he didn't give up on his love because of self-pity or guilt. He just wanted to know the one he loved also loved him back...He fell in love with Simran for her simplicity and innocence and nature. He didn't change himself for her or to be worthy of her, their love brought out the changes. He had respect and didn't put their love over parent's respect and love. It was his view on life and all aspects of love and life, which made me fall in love with him.
*sigh* I could go on forever!!!!
My fav. book-Catcher in the Rye--I really like Holden Caufield...it's just about his straightforwardness, attitude, and independence that makes me like his character a lot.
I think I'm about done. 😆

I love A walk to remember.. (both the book & the movie) but Landon's character evolves thru the book..
But there is this another book by the same author (nicholas sparks)..Message in a bottle..
Here the heroine Theresa finds a bottle with a message in it written by a widower to his wife and she makes it her goal to go in search of these bottle and reads the beautiful letters that he has penned to his wife catherine...she later finds him and that his wife had died 3 years earlier but he still mourns her.. Its a touching tale and the way Garette , the hero conveys his feelings to his wife thru those letters have to be read to be believed...
b4 i ramble on,i stop

Messages in a bottle was an extremely touching story... the first story i actually howled myself to death...
the letters were so heartfelt... they sort of wrench out the feelings from your heart.....unfortunately for me i haven't read any other nicholas sparks book..... will read....

hey don't feel uncomfortable about being a shahid lover.. aditya kashyap has always been one of my most covetted characters... prem of vivah was really adorable... especially in the song..." mujhey hak hai.."
i think shahid has an underlying softness and innocence in his character which comes out so well in his potrayal of romantic character..... so don't feel shy even i am a shahid fan.....

Okay so some of my fav. fictional characters-
AB from Suhaag-he was a guy who grew up in the wrong enviornment, but still retained his innocence, sensibility, and humor. The little things he does and says in the film is admirable and adorable. I've loved him. He reflected how any normal guy can be a "hero" in their own way.
Sandra Bullock's character in the Lake House-she was a doctor in a big city, but she yearned for peace, solitude, and privacy. She meets a guy from the past and the way she communicates with him and falls in love with him is just something that I really liked!
I have a few more...as you can tell I don't really like reading. I'll add more later.
btw I've read Gone with the Wind a long time ago and after reading one of your fav. characters I realized I've forgotten most of the characters. I may just go back and read the book again.

u can talk as much as u want..... i have opened this topic for people to talk and discuss.....i have just seen promos of lake house.... i wanted to see the film but i missed it.....

as for Raj of DDLJ, he is iconic......DDLJ is a cult romantic movie... simplicity in love redefined....

@everyone-

has anyone of u seen the movie- Fifty First Dates??

the character of Henry Roth played by Adam Sandler is a darling... the tagline of the movie is- "Imagine having to win over the girl of your dreams... every friggin' day"

Lucy is played by Drew barrymore(i find her extrenely cute) has short term memory problem...her memory span is 24 hours.. she never remembers what happened to her the previous day.... Henry Roth( who used to be a commitment phobic) falls in love with her and makes her fall in love with him everyday.... 50 times!!!!.... thats why its called 50 first dates....

cute na??
