@ Rinky nice topic! I have so much to say... as always 😆.
Besides the characters of MJHT I like William Dobbin from Vanity Fair. Dobbin's romance revolves around Amelia Sedley, one of the protagonists. I liked his character the most because he portrays what defines love for me.
Well here's a quick background: Amelia was engaged to Dobbin's best friend George. George was compelled by Becky, a cynical protagonist, to not keep his promise of marriage with Amelia. However, Dobbin who secretly loved Amelia, suggested to George that he shouldn't lose Amelia just because of someone like Becky. Thus, George and Amelia ended up marrying. Later when George died, Dobbin cared for Amelia and her son and never stopped Amelia from obsessing over George. The simple and sweet gestures by Dobbin never caught Amelia's eyes until Amelia found out about how George was convinced by Dobbin to marry her. Finally Dobbin and Amelia end up marrying.
I don't know why but Dobbin for me stood out in this novel. He was very genuine towards his feelings, her feelings, he just waited for her, he never compelled her or tricked her. He could have asked George to marry Becky instead of Amelia, but no he did the opposite --- he didn't want her or his friend to be hurt. Even though Dobbin's character is bit unrealistic, because human nature is dark, destructive, and selfish, but love is beautiful, heart warming, and selfless. Love is sacrifice for that special one, could be ur sister, mom, dad, boyfriend, husband, whoever. Dobbin did exactly that, he sacrificed his feelings to see the one he loved happy, his friend and his love.
There are so many other fictional characters that have their own strengths and weakness. For me in Bollywood movies Geet from Jab We Met (even though I dislike kareena so much!, no offense to any1), in MJHT Nupur (I love Rati--- sorry going off topic a bit), in Hollywood movies Charlotte (the spider in the movie) from Charlotte's web. All three of these characters share a similarity a type of inspiring quality, which is to live to the fullest and build a positive aroma around you so that every1 else smiles ---- there shouldn't be a place for distress or anxiety. Geet brought harmony in Aditya's life, Nupur brought harmony in Mayank's and Charlotte brought harmony in Wilbur's.

Hey mimi..we had this discussion on ur ff thread as well....
I love A walk to remember.. (both the book & the movie) but Landon's character evolves thru the book..
But there is this another book by the same author (nicholas sparks)..Message in a bottle..
Here the heroine Theresa finds a bottle with a message in it written by a widower to his wife and she makes it her goal to go in search of these bottle and reads the beautiful letters that he has penned to his wife catherine...she later finds him and that his wife had died 3 years earlier but he still mourns her.. Its a touching tale and the way Garette , the hero conveys his feelings to his wife thru those letters have to be read to be believed...

Very very good topic Rinky!
I'm sad that I found it so late! Anyway dher aaye darust aaye no?😆Okay so some of my fav. fictional characters-AB from Suhaag-he was a guy who grew up in the wrong enviornment, but still retained his innocence, sensibility, and humor. The little things he does and says in the film is admirable and adorable. I've loved him. He reflected how any normal guy can be a "hero" in their own way.Sandra Bullock's character in the Lake House-she was a doctor in a big city, but she yearned for peace, solitude, and privacy. She meets a guy from the past and the way she communicates with him and falls in love with him is just something that I really liked!I have a few more...as you can tell I don't really like reading. I'll add more later.btw I've read Gone with the Wind a long time ago and after reading one of your fav. characters I realized I've forgotten most of the characters. I may just go back and read the book again.
