Both are egoistic 😡 (MN can TRY to discuss this issue over like two mature individuals, although it is unlikely 🤔 )
Both are passionate people - Mayank is passionate about science and screws, Nupur's passionate about acting and dance....its not necessary that the topics have to be common right? The passion they share for their respective interests can also be considered common......
Not just the flavor, both love their ice cream melted like M said in Monday's episode "ice cream pighlaake khaana mujhe bhi pasand hai" 😳 😳

This is all very true, indeed....they are both passionate, caring albeit about different things....so they share some characteristics that way.....so all that can be concluded is that their egos and respective insecurities are too huge and don't allow them to find common ground and bond over some things?
