Continue from: Mayank and Nupur
They are still looking at each other intently, captured in the kind of trance that is too alluring to escape from.
"Aap kuch lenge Sir?"
They both jump at the sudden voice and see that it belongs to a waiter who is standing near them with some snacks in a tray. Nupur is the one to recover first. She takes a look at the tray and doesn't look too pleased. She waves the waiter off as her eyes fall on an icecream corner.
Nupur: (clutching Mayank's sleeve) Mayank! Udhar dekho na!
Mayank looks at where she is pointing. A couple of guys are dancing.
Mayank: (sarcastically) tum mujhe ladko ko kyun dikha rahi ho?
Nupur shakes her head in disbelief.
Nupur: tumne mujhe samajh ke kya rakha hai? Main ladko ko nahi icecream ko dikha rahi thi. Chalo na Mayank icecream khaate hai. Please.
She sees him look a little disinterested and resumes her chatter instantly.
Nupur: ab dekho mana mat karna, nahi toh main aunty se shikayat kar dungi ki tum mujhe kitna satate ho.
Mayank: yeh baat baat pe Ma ki dhamki kyun deti ho tum?
Nupur: kyunki ek woh hi hai jo tumhe line pe la sakti hai. Mere alawa.
Mayank: oh madam, main line me hi hu. Aap apna sochiye. Ma jaanti nahi hai tumhara asli roop.
Nupur: (surprised) asli roop?
Mayank: haan wohi wala roop jisme tum subah uthte hi mujhe pareshan karne ke plans banati ho.
Nupur: (pointing a finger at him) ruk jaao Mayank, ab tum nahi bachoge. Aaj puri raat jaagke aunty ko tumhare khaufnaak kisse nahi sunaye na toh mera naam Nupur nahi.
Mayank: (in an irritated tone) aur wo kyun maanengi? Tum shayad bhul gayi ho ke wo meri Ma hai, tumhari nahi.
Nupur's face suddenly loses its sparkle and she looks at the ground. Mayank realizes how his sentence must have sounded. He could have kicked himself. He opens his mouth to say something but Nupur walks ahead.
Mayank: mujhe sach me hosh nahi rehta ke kya bolna hai aur kya nahi. Nupur ko kaisa laga hoga.. Ma sahi kehti hai. Main bilkul pagal hu!
Cut to: Samrat
He is still busy reading hands, trying to find an excuse to ask Gunjan to have hers read. Once or twice, he looks up at the same time she is looking at him and Gunjan is in an I-want-to-go-but-I-don't-want-to-go state of mind. She hadn't seen Nupur leave her side. Samrat decides that the right opportunity is here and nudges Benji, sitting beside him. He nods.
Benji: Gunjan, ab tum kyun nahi try karti?
Gunjan is taken aback.
Gunjan: kya?
Benji: arey yaha hum sab football coaching kar rahe hai na, tum bhi karo.
Samrat pinches him.
Benji: ouch! (Pinching Samrat back) I mean yaha Samrat sabke haath padh raha hai na toh tum bhi apna kyun nahi padhati?
Gunjan: nahi, koi baat nahi.
Samrat: haan koi baat nahi. Kuch logo ko waise bhi meri life ki.. uh mere talent ki.. koi kadar nahi. Rehne de na Benji. (Taking someone else's hand to read and giving the girl a disarming smile.) Main kisi aur ka haath padhne me busy hu.
Gunjan stares at him for a while and then takes a seat beside him. He gives her a surprised expression which she returns with a smile.
Gunjan: kisi aur ka baad me padhna. Abhi meri baari hai.
Samrat smiles broadly as he takes her hand in hers.
Samrat: ok chashmish, sabse pehli baat toh yeh likhi hai ke – (Tracing a line on her palm with his finger and speaking really softly) – tum aaj is pink dress me bahut khusbsurat lag rahi ho.
Even though Gunjan is looking down, Samrat notes her face carefully and can make out a little blush. As Benji shoos everyone else away, leaving the two of them alone, Samrat feels a ray of hope.
Samrat: (to himself) mujhe khushi hai Gunjan, ke ek hi sahi, par mere paas aane ke liye tumne kadam toh uthaya. Ab dude, is ek kadam se hi tujhe chashmish ko apna banana hai. Hamesha hamesha ke liye.
Cut to: Radz
She is screaming into her phone and looks irritated.
"Pata nahi logo ko baat nahi karni hoti toh phone kyun karte hai. Huh, morons!" She looks around at where Pragya was a while ago and is now not to be seen. Pragya had introduced herself as Dia's friend and she knew Dia a little from events she had attended with Samrat.
"Ab yeh madam kaha chali gayi? Na hi yeh Samrat dikh raha hai. Main toh is shaadi me aakar phas hi gayi."
She is still muttering to herself when she feels a hand on her shoulder and turns.
"Hie!"
"Uh.. hie.. kya main apko jaanti hu?"
He didn't strike her as a school or college acquaintance nor did she remember him from any other former interaction.
"Actually nahi. I am Aditya." He extends a hand which she shakes.
"I am Radz. So..?"
She doesn't feel like continuing idle conversation with a stranger, even a cute looking one, when all she wants to do is scream at Samrat and Pragya for deserting her.
Adi: actually Radz, maine tumhe thodi der pehle dekha tha.. ek ladki ke saath..
Radz: haan, toh?
Adi: um..kya main uske baare me jaan sakta hu?
Radz gives him a suspicious look.
Radz: kya main tumhe shakal se matchmaker dikhti hu?
Adi: (laughing) please don't get me wrong. Acha tell me, kya uska naam Pragya hai?
Radz: (surprised) haan.. par tumhe kaise pata?
Adi: (smiles) bingo! Main aur wo school me saath saath the. Phir school ke baad kabhi dikhi nahi.. (Hesitantly) Listen, can you kind of re-introduce me to her? Please?
Radz: lekin kyun? You guys were in school together right? Just go and say hie na!
Adi turns a little red.
Adi: to be honest, I had a crush on her. Never talked much. Toh abhi thoda awkward lagega.
Radz: (giggling) aww never mind. Chalo main tumhara introduction karati hu.
Adi: hey thanks yar!
Radz: (to herself) talaash hai apne Mr Right ki aur yaha dusro ki love stories likh rahi hai. Wah Radz, kaisi hai teri kahaani!
Cut to: Mayank
He seems to have lost sight of Nupur and cant see her anywhere. He had gone to the icecream corner and is holding her favourite chocolate icecream in his hand. It is now a gooey mess and lies quietly in the small cup. He is about to go and ask Gunjan if she has seen Nupur around, when he suddenly spots her standing alone, watching the fountain. He quietly walks up to her and begins to speak non stop, in one breath.
Mayank: isse pehle ke tum mujhe yaha se jaane ke liye kaho, main kuch kehna chahta hu. Dekho Nupur, tum toh mujhe jaanti ho. Main kabhi kabhi thoda zyada bol deta hu. Mujhe khud hi nahi pata hota ke kaunsi baat se kisi ko dukh pahuch sakta hai. I am really sorry Nupur.. aur Ma toh hum dono ki hi hai. Waise bhi jab dekho tumhari hi tarafdaari karti hai. Maine toh unse bol diya hai ke aise nahi chalega lekin ab tum hi bolo –
Seeing that Mayank is in no mood to stop and seeing no way to quieten him, Nupur puts a finger on his lips. Her eyes are a little wet; she has been crying.
Nupur: (softly) shh Mayank. Pehle bhi kaha tha na, tum kitna bolte ho!
Mayank: (even more softly) by God nahi bologi?
Nupur gives him a stern look.
Mayank: but I really am sorry Nupur. Mujhe aise nahi kehna chahiye tha.
Nupur: kya? By God toh main bolti hi hu!
Mayank: tum jaanti ho main kiski baat kar raha hu.
Nupur is silent for some moments, trying to phrase into words the sudden desperation she had felt. Sometimes she really missed her mother, even though she had hardly known her. She had passed away when Nupur was very young. Her father had always meant everything to Gunjan and her and she had taken on the responsibility of making sure her little sister always kept smiling.
But lately, Mayank's Mum seemed her very own – she was so full of affection. When Mayank had been arguing with her, even though she knew he was doing it in fun, she had felt an intense pang of fear. The fear of Mayank leaving her too.. the fear of being left alone.. Nupur didn't usually let thoughts get the better of her, being the lively girl she was. But sometimes, she couldn't help it. Epecially since she had met Mayank and he had formed his place in her heart and soul as the friend she could rely on, as the lover she could blindly trust. No way did she want that trust to be broken, her Mayank to desert her on any account.
Mayank sees Nupur's face all clouded in thought. He leans forward to lightly kiss her cheek, to wake her up from her reverie. Nupur looks at him and smiles a little.
Nupur: mujhe tumhari baat ka bura nahi laga Mayank. Par haan, tumhari baat se yeh ehsaas hua ke kisi ko kho dene ka darr kya hota hai.
Mayank: Nupur main –
Nupur: pata hai Mayank, bauji ne hamesha itna pyar kiya hai ke Ma ki kami kabhi mehsoos hi nahi hui. Par jab main aunty se miltu hu na, mujhe wo apni si lagti hai. Meri Ma hoti toh wo bhi mujhe aise hi pyar karti na?
Mayank: tumhe koi bhi aise hi pyar karta Nupur.. tumpe pyar na aaye aisa mumkin hi nahi.
Nupur: sach Mayank?
Mayank: nah. Khush karne ke liye keh raha tha.
He laughs at her comical expression.
Nupur: chodo, tumse toh baat karna hi bekaar hai. Ghar jaao, notes banayo. Chodo mera rona dhona, ek din mujhe bhi chod dena. Huh!
She turns her back to him. Mayank smiles to himself and with both hands, turns her around again to face him. He takes a step closer to her.
Mayank: aakhri baar keh raha hu Nupur, dobara aisa kaha toh bahut bura hoga.
Nupur: (tauntingly) huh, kya hoga? Roz subah tumhari shakal dekhni padegi? Waise bhi dekhti hu.
Mayank plays with her hair and slides some strands behind her ear.
Mayank: usse bhi bura hoga Nupur.
Nupur: (a little scared) k-kya hoga?
Mayank looks deep into her eyes piercingly and without batting an eyelid, says in a forbidding tone -
Mayank: baaki ki zindagi tumhe Shahrukh ki filme dekhe bina hi guzarni hogi. Chaahe tum kitni bhi minnate maang lo.
Nupur: (taking a deep breath) by God Mayank! Tum kitne zaalim ho!
She raises a hand to push him back but abruptly wraps both her arms around him instead. She can feel him complete her, protect her from anything that threatened to disturb her world. Mayank smiles and hugs her back, tightly, and snuggles his head in her hair. Its enough for him to know that Nupur is happy again. As they both pull back from the hug, Mayank gives her an enquiring glance.
Nupur: kya hua?
Mayank: kaha hai?
Nupur looks around herself.
Nupur: kya kaha hai?
Mayank: mera promise!
Nupur: promise?
Mayank: aur kya, tumhe kya laga ke main pal bhar me punishment wali baat bhul jaunga? Promise karo ke tum chodne chootne ki baate phir nahi karogi.
Nupur: acha baba, promise. Nahi karungi.
Mayank: baatein nahi karogi ya promise nahi karogi?
Nupur taps him on the head and pulls both his cheeks.
"Jo samajhna hai samajh lo, mere pyare Mayank!"
She picks up a run and Mayank runs behind her. Nupur whispers something into Samrat's ears who grins and goes upto the DJ. Benji follows. Everyone's attention is on them as the music stops.
Samrat stands there, smiling, holding a mike.
Samrat: hello everyone, can I have your attention for a moment?
Benji nudges him.
Benji: kya kar raha hai dude, waise bhi sab tujhe hi.. (looks around) actually hume dekh rahe hai!
Samrat: main janta hu main kya kar raha hu dude, no fear when Samrat's here!
He grins in trademark Samrat style. Benji sighs. He was devoted to his best friend and always let Sam make him the third wheel. He didn't really mind.
Samrat: thank you. Well, aaj ek special din hai aur special din me agar special gaana na ho toh apko nahi lagta ke din incomplete reh jayega?
The crowd cheers and claps.
Samrat: toh ab yeh special gaana un sab logo ke liye jinhe (Looking directly at Gunjan ) kisi se pyar hai, kisi se pyar tha ya kisi se jald hi ho jaayega!
The music begins as the lights get dimmer and dreamier.
"Aankhein khuli ho ya ho band…"
Gunjan's eyes meet his and she looks away.
"Deedar unka hota hai.. kaise kahu main o yaara yeh.. pyar kaise hota hai!"
Radz and Nupur join Samrat in the chorus.
"Tururu ruru rururu tu ruru ruru…"
Uday and Vatsala come centrestage, hand in hand and begin to dance.
"Aankhein khuli ho ya ho band.. Deedar unka hota hai.. kaise kahu main o yaara yeh.. pyar kaise hota hai!"
A cute looking guy extends a hand to Dia, asking her for a dance.
"Aaj hi yaaro kisi pe marke dekhenge hum.."
Dia is only too pleased with the attention and allows him to spin her around.
"Pyar hota yeh kaise karke dekhenge hum.."
Samrat moves towards Gunjan and the look that passes between them answers many questions, yet leaves some unanswered.
"Kisi ki yaadon me khoye hue khwabon ko humne saja liya.."
Nupur and Mayank are dancing together and she rests her face on his chest.
"Kisi ki baahon me khoye hue, apna use bana liya.."
Mayank lifts Nupur up in his arms.
"Aye yaar pyar me koi na jaagta na sota hai..
Putting her down again -
Kaise kahun main o yaara yeh pyar kaise hota hai!"
Pooja and Benji dance together in the chorus.
"Tururu ruru rururu tu ruru ruru…"
Seeing Nupur and Mayank enjoy themselves so much, Gunjan smiles to herself and wonders.
"Kya hai yeh jadoo hai koi, bas jo chal jaata hai.."
Samrat puts a hand on her shoulder from behind and she turns to face him.
"Todke pehre hazaron dil nikal jaata hai.."
Radz twirls her dupatta around.
"Dur kahi aasmano par hote hai yeh saare faisle…"
Pragya and Adi come up and nudge her.
"Kaun jaane koi humsafar kab kaise kaha mile.."
Mayank and Nupur see Samrat and Gunjan rather quiet and decide to interrupt. Mayank keeps a hand on Samrat's shoulder and Nupur on Gunjan's.
"Jo naam dil pe ho likha..ikraar usi se hota hai..
Kaise kahu main o yaara yeh pyar kaise hota hai!"
Everyone comes together and Nupur makes sure Gunjan shakes a leg too.
"Tururu ruru rururu tu ruru ruru… Tururu ruru rururu tu ruru ruru…"
Amidst all the song and dance, just as Gunjan is about to escape Nupur's focus and slide away, Samrat catches hold of her hand. Feeling the familiar Samrat touch, Gunjan stops and slowly turns..

Mayank looks deep into her eyes piercingly and without batting an eyelid, says in a forbidding tone -
Mayank: baaki ki zindagi tumhe Shahrukh ki filme dekhe bina hi guzarni hogi. Chaahe tum kitni bhi minnate maang lo.
Nupur: (taking a deep breath) by God Mayank! Tum kitne zaalim ho!
She raises a hand to push him back but abruptly wraps both her arms around him instead. She can feel him complete her, protect her from anything that threatened to disturb her world. Mayank smiles and hugs her back, tightly, and snuggles his head in her hair. Its enough for him to know that Nupur is happy again. As they both pull back from the hug, Mayank gives her an enquiring glance.
Nupur: kya hua?
Mayank: kaha hai?
Nupur looks around herself.
Nupur: kya kaha hai?
Mayank: mera promise!
Nupur: promise?
Mayank: aur kya, tumhe kya laga ke main pal bhar me punishment wali baat bhul jaunga? Promise karo ke tum chodne chootne ki baate phir nahi karogi.
Nupur: acha baba, promise. Nahi karungi.
Mayank: baatein nahi karogi ya promise nahi karogi?
Nupur taps him on the head and pulls both his cheeks.
"Jo samajhna hai samajh lo, mere pyare Mayank!"
She picks up a run and Mayank runs behind her. Nupur whispers something into Samrat's ears who grins and goes upto the DJ. Benji follows. Everyone's attention is on them as the music stops.
Samrat stands there, smiling, holding a mike.
Samrat: hello everyone, can I have your attention for a moment?
Benji nudges him.
Benji: kya kar raha hai dude, waise bhi sab tujhe hi.. (looks around) actually hume dekh rahe hai!
Samrat: main janta hu main kya kar raha hu dude, no fear when Samrat's here!
He grins in trademark Samrat style. Benji sighs. He was devoted to his best friend and always let Sam make him the third wheel. He didn't really mind.
Samrat: thank you. Well, aaj ek special din hai aur special din me agar special gaana na ho toh apko nahi lagta ke din incomplete reh jayega?
The crowd cheers and claps.
Samrat: toh ab yeh special gaana un sab logo ke liye jinhe (Looking directly at Gunjan ) kisi se pyar hai, kisi se pyar tha ya kisi se jald hi ho jaayega!
The music begins as the lights get dimmer and dreamier.
"Aankhein khuli ho ya ho band…"
Gunjan's eyes meet his and she looks away.
"Deedar unka hota hai.. kaise kahu main o yaara yeh.. pyar kaise hota hai!"
Radz and Nupur join Samrat in the chorus.
"Tururu ruru rururu tu ruru ruru…"
Uday and Vatsala come centrestage, hand in hand and begin to dance.
"Aankhein khuli ho ya ho band.. Deedar unka hota hai.. kaise kahu main o yaara yeh.. pyar kaise hota hai!"
A cute looking guy extends a hand to Dia, asking her for a dance.
"Aaj hi yaaro kisi pe marke dekhenge hum.."
Dia is only too pleased with the attention and allows him to spin her around.
"Pyar hota yeh kaise karke dekhenge hum.."
Samrat moves towards Gunjan and the look that passes between them answers many questions, yet leaves some unanswered.
"Kisi ki yaadon me khoye hue khwabon ko humne saja liya.."
Nupur and Mayank are dancing together and she rests her face on his chest.
"Kisi ki baahon me khoye hue, apna use bana liya.."
Mayank lifts Nupur up in his arms.
"Aye yaar pyar me koi na jaagta na sota hai..
Putting her down again -
Kaise kahun main o yaara yeh pyar kaise hota hai!"
Pooja and Benji dance together in the chorus.
"Tururu ruru rururu tu ruru ruru…"
Seeing Nupur and Mayank enjoy themselves so much, Gunjan smiles to herself and wonders.
"Kya hai yeh jadoo hai koi, bas jo chal jaata hai.."
Samrat puts a hand on her shoulder from behind and she turns to face him.
"Todke pehre hazaron dil nikal jaata hai.."
Radz twirls her dupatta around.
"Dur kahi aasmano par hote hai yeh saare faisle…"
Pragya and Adi come up and nudge her.
"Kaun jaane koi humsafar kab kaise kaha mile.."
Mayank and Nupur see Samrat and Gunjan rather quiet and decide to interrupt. Mayank keeps a hand on Samrat's shoulder and Nupur on Gunjan's.
"Jo naam dil pe ho likha..ikraar usi se hota hai..
Kaise kahu main o yaara yeh pyar kaise hota hai!"
Everyone comes together and Nupur makes sure Gunjan shakes a leg too.
"Tururu ruru rururu tu ruru ruru… Tururu ruru rururu tu ruru ruru…"
Amidst all the song and dance, just as Gunjan is about to escape Nupur's focus and slide away, Samrat catches hold of her hand. Feeling the familiar Samrat touch, Gunjan stops and slowly turns..
