Excel College – Canteen
Benji and Pooja are sitting together, lost in each other's eyes when Chinu, the canteen guy, interrupts them.
Chinu: yahi din dikhana tha toh Chinu ki canteen me aaye hi kyun.
Benji: main bol bolke thak gaya, Meena Kumari type filme dekhna band kar. Kya kiya maine?
Chinu: yeh coffee Chinu special hai, pata hai kitne mehnat se banayi hai. Aur yaha pade pade thandi ho rahi hai.
Pooja: actually Chinu, hume cold coffee zyada pasand hai.
Chinu: toh pehle bolna tha, mera dil tod diya. (He walks away with a sad face.)
Pooja: arey, yeh Chinu naraz ho gaya. (She attempts to get up and go after him but Benji pulls her back again.)
Benji: use chodo. Mujhe khush karne ke bare me kuch socho.
Pooja: tum khush nahi ho kya?
Benji: uh huh. Uske liye toh… (Just then, Uday comes and sits at their table.)
Uday: uske liye toh, meri company chahiye hai na dude? Tu mujhe miss kar raha tha na Benji? Samrat toh jaldi chala gaya.
Benji: (irritated) han han. Tere bina mera din pura hi nahi hota.
Pooja: acha guys, main chalti hu. I will call u Benji.
Benji: ok babes, bye. (He blows her a kiss and Uday looks on.)
Uday: yar Benji, tu bada lucky hai. Mujhe, imagine Uday ko, koi ladki kyun nahi milti?
Benji: kya hai na Uday, koi jaan bujhke khaayi me nahi koodna chahta.
Uday: kya? To lage haath Dodo ki insult kar raha hai by God!
Benji: by God? Nupur devi ki jai ho!

Uday: Sam ko Gunjan se fursat kaha? Deedz se chupa chupa kar main khud chup gaya hu. Par Sam maanta hi nahi hai ki wo Gunjan ko like wike karta hai.
Benji: mujhe bhi yahi lagta hai. Par shayad use samajh aane laga hai…
Uday: oye, topic se bhatka diya. Mere liye koi ladki dhund na Benji.
Benji: (sees Vatsala in an adjacent table) samajh tera kaam ho gaya. Ab mujhe jaane de, Sam ke liye gaadi bhejni hai. Bye dude.
Uday: arey wah Uday! Tere liye ladki fit. Tu bhi fit. Ab meri baaki girlfriends ka kya hoga?
Cut to: The beach
Samrat and Gunjan are walking along the sea as the sun is on its way down the horizon.
Samrat: bas chashmish, dheere dheere faasle itne bad gaye ki ab saal bhar me bhi unse hardly baat hoti hai.
Gunjan: Samrat, faasle toh dono taraf se hote hai na. Tum pehal kyun nahi karte, aakhir woh tumhare parents hai. Tum unse pyar toh karte ho, chaahe maano ya nahi.
Samrat: ab tak faasle mitane ki koi wajah nahi mili. Lekin ab lagta hai ke unse baat karni chahiye.
Gunjan: (smiles) acha? Aur wo kyun?
Samrat: koi itne pyar se samjhane wala nahi mila na, tumse pehle.
Gunjan: pata hai Samrat, maine di ke alawa kabhi kisi aur se itni baatein nahi ki. Par tumse baatein karna mujhe bahut acha lagta hai. Aisa lagta hai ke tum mujhe samajhte ho, aur meri fikar karte ho.
Samrat: usme koi doubt hai kya meri chashmish? Mere liye tum…
(He is unable to complete his sentence as suddenly someone screams his name from behind and comes rushing upto him. It's a really pretty girl, with a huge smile on her face… a smile that can be seen on Sam's face too as he sees her. As they hug each other, Gunjan looks on, feeling a little awkward and also left out.)
Samrat: Radz!! Tum? This is a huge surprise!
Radz: but of course Sam, I am always there where surprise is.
Samrat: God, I cant believe it. Tum Shimla se kab aayi?
Radz: arey 1 week ho gaya, par kuch prior engagements me itna busy ho gayi thi ki milne hi nahi aa paayi.
Samrat: hmm, tumhare engagements na. I really missed you. Pata hai college me talent parade tha aur in madam ne jo gaaya na… (he points to his side, to indicate Gunjan.)
Radz: wow, ajkal hawa bhi gaati hai?
Samrat: kya?
Radz: waha toh koi hai hi nahi.
(Samrat looks and sees that in the middle of the conversation, Gunjan had walked a little distance away and was standing by herself.)
Samrat: ye chashmish bhi na. Radz chal, tujhe apni bahut pyari friend se milata hu.
Radz: aaj bilkul time nahi hai, I have to rush home. Main kal ghar aungi ok? Chal bye!
Samrat: ok yar, bye.
(He walks up to Gunjan and screams into her ears.)
Gunjan: Samrat!
Samrat: (mimicking) Samrat! Yaha kyun chali aayi? Main tumhe..
Gunjan: Samrat, kaafi der ho gayi hai. Tumhari gaadi bhi aa gayi hai. Ghar chale?
Samrat: lekin chashmish...
(But Gunjan has already begun to walk towards the car. Samrat sighs and follows.)
Cut to: MRC College – Auditorium
The project presentations are on. When Mayank and Nupur's turn comes, they manage it all very well. Between Nupur's enthusiastic explanations of their project research and Mayank's intellectual inputs, they impress one and all. As the audience applauds, they stand on the stage, all smiles.
Nupur: (whispers) dekha Mayank, main itni bhi buri project partner nahi hu. Sab acha ho gaya by God!
Mayank: maine toh kaha hi tha, tum bekaar nervous ho rahi thi.
(They get down from the stage and in a half hour more, the event comes to a close. Mayank looks at his watch.)
Nupur: kya hua? Nayi ghadi li hai?
Mayank: very funny. Actually 7 baj gaye hai, Mom ghar aa gayi hogi.
Nupur: haan Gunjan bhi kab se wait kar rahi hogi.
Mayank: toh ab chale? Ya aaj raat auditorium me hi rukne ka iraada hai?
Nupur: maine toh pehle hi chalne ko kaha tha, tum hi keh rahe the "baakiyo ka sun ne do, comparative analysis karni hai…" Huh.
Mayank: Nupur, tum..
Nupur: sabse best hu na?
(He looks at her with a resigned, you-win expression.)
Cut to: Dia
She is at home, filing her nails. Just then her phone rings. Its Annie.
Dia: hie babes. Whats up?
Annie: bad news hai Dia. Samrat aur Gunjan ek saath beach par hai.
Dia: what nonsense Annie! Gunjan toh apne kamre me hai.
Annie: arey Sam ne hi ghar choda hoga use. Pakki information hai. No doubts.
Dia: whatever Annie. I care a damn. (She slams the phone down.)
Dia: lagta hai ab mujhe kuch karna hi padega. Bahut ho gaya Gunjan ka drama.
Cut to: Mayank and Nupur – In an auto
The road they are on is rather bumpy and the auto is shaking constantly. The streetlights aren't much good and the driver doesn't see a speedbreaker ahead. Another big jerk comes and Mayank and Nupur's heads bump into each other.
Nupur: ouch! Yeh bhi koi road hai? Bhaiya, apko yahi raasta mila tha lene ke liye?
Driver: ab kya karega madam ji, dusra route jam hai na.
(Even as he is speaking, the auto makes some violent sounds and screeches to a momentous halt.)
Mayank: ab kya hua?
Driver: pata nahi, dekhna padega.
(He gets down and inspects his dilapidated machine.)
Driver: lagta hai saab, kuch major fault hai.
Nupur: haye raam! Ab kya karein Mayank?
Mayank: kitna time lagega?
Driver: lagta hai kisi garage me le jaani padegi gaadi. Aap log chale jaao, aage aur auto mil jaayenge.
Nupur: is andhere raaste me auto nahi bhoot hi mil sakte hai!
(Mayank pays the driver and gestures to him that they were leaving.)
Nupur: kya? Hum paidal ghar jaayenge kya?
Mayank: is road ke end tak toh chalna hi padega. Waha se dusra auto le lenge.
Nupur: maine kaha tha na. Jabse tum mile ho, meri kismat gayi hai khaayi me! Main nahi chal sakti. Bahut thak gayi hu.
Mayank: toh kya main utha ke le jaayu?
Nupur: arey nahi nahi. Tum toh mujhe gira hi doge. Chalo chalte hai.
(And they begin to walk on that rather deserted shortcut road, which had proved long for them that evening.)
