Mona to be replaced in Miilee

Star Plus' much talked about show Miilee, which has undergone several changes in the last couple of months is all set for yet another shocker: that of its lead protagonist, Mona Vasu being replaced.First, when the story of a bubbly orphan girl didn't work, they (the makers) changed it into an out an out family saas-bahu saga.

But when that also didn't increase the TRPs, they took yet another turn by turning their heroine Miilee into a superwoman who went on challenging and defeating men at their own game. That also didn't help in anyway.

So, the final stage of taking a drastic step has come and what we hear is that the show is all set to change its main protagonist Mona Vasu, who according to the channel is not working (read, not been able to generate TRPs).

"Yes its true. Mona will be replaced by some other actor in the show's second spell which will return after a break," confirms Vinta Nanda, producer of the show. "But we have not yet decided whom to cast for the lead role."

Given the fact that none of the recently launched shows of Star Plus have been successful in making a mark on the tube, it's an alarming situation for the channel. And so, this can be termed as a desperate attempt by the channel to bring its glory back.

One recalls that it is the same girl (Mona Vasu) whom the channel used to call its brand ambassador saying she is the best talent who has been launched in the recent times. And today she is being replaced.

When we contacted Mona Vasu to find out what was the reason behind her exclusion, she seemed to have rehearsed her lines. "I don't want to comment on this issue since this is the channel's call and they know better what they are doing," says Mona in a diplomatic tone.

While Mona prefers to be diplomatic, producer Vinta Nanda doesn't have any such hang-ups as she says, "The reason behind the decision of bringing the show back with a new cast is called TRP mantra. We have noticed some TRP fall in the last few months of the show. So we have planned to take action."

But isn't it true that you had claimed to have changed the face of Indian television with Miilee which was quite different from the saas-bahu sagas? "We always believed in experimenting and presenting something very different. You can see we always followed this trend right from Taraa and now Miilee. And that's what the audience also likes to watch. And in future too we'll continue with our trends."Well, all we hope is that at least this so called experiment gets the show a few TRPs.
