5 lessons from Kumkum Bhagya, Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein you should NEVER EVER learn!

You'd be better off without learning these five horrible cliches from TV shows...

It is often said that cinema and Television has a great impact on society and that people learn a lot from what they see. And well, I do believe that there is a lot to learn but with the current trend on Television in general, and daily soaps in particular, the over exaggerated drama leaves you in doubt about your own value and moral system. So this teacher's day, while we are all remembering those wonderful people and experiences in our life that have left us with a little more wisdom, let's also look at these 5 lessons that are TV shows have repeatedly fed us that should never ever EVER be learnt or adapted...

Marriages are a joke...

Getting married to someone and then divorcing the most common track of the show. While I'm okay with people doing it when really required, I don't agree with the idea of marrying just because it can be ended, say Kumkum Bhagya for example. So Abhi marries Pragya for a selfish reason thinking that he'll divorce her at the first instance possible. What's up with that? It's a marriage, not a movie that you walk out of it if you don't like.

Wrong doers and criminals will go scot free...

I don't even know what example to quote here because every damn show on TV has at least one such character who commits crime after crime and some how escapes punishment every damn time, be it Tanveer from Qubool Hai or Alia from Kumkum Bhagya or Dadi from Suhani Si Ek Ladki. Trust me guys, if anyone has committed a murder, the consequences are not going to be as convenient as they show on TV.

Modern women are all evil and bad...

Aaah! A stereotypical perception used across all shows. Modern , independent women = vamp. Why the hell are we still stuck in that rut of portraying an ideal woman in a saree and make her look like the most bechari thing one can ever come across. I don't believe that we are in the 2000s and still continue to portray women as abla naaris.

An ideal wife continues to care for her husband even he's a jerk...

So Prem from Sasural Simar Ka looses his wife in a BET, Kumkum Bhagyas Abhi has a girlfriend that his wife knows about, Lakhan from Begusarai forcefully married his wife and now treats her like garbage; but what do these wives do? They continue to take crap from their husband and their in-laws day after day and still worship them. I'm not sure what makers are trying to teach out of such shows!

Being good is a bane...

Again, a classic plot used across the board... evil wins, goodness loses. Be it Alia and Tanu from Kumkum or Rithika from Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi or Shagun from Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, they somehow are always rewarded while the good guys continue to slog and suffer. It's like these shows are trying their level best to eradicate all thing good from the world.

These were five thing that I could think of, but I'm sure you guys might have a few more. So please feel free to add them to the list. Leave your comments below!

Well done to the writer of this article. Serials are supposed to entertain and educate as well but what is being shown is far, far from education.
Hope the makers of these shows read this article and put some rationale in the upcoming episodes.
