The root of all the current problems in Riya's life:
Shivam 's lies. He has lied by omission. He did not tell riya that his Grandmother &
aunt are such bullies . He did not tell her that he & his sisters constantly try to protect their
mother because she is Shanti's & Raghva's scapegoat. He did not tell her
that Shanti is called 'Shashikala' by them. Instead he told her things that she would
already know- "You come from a modern, small family. I come from a joint family
that may seem weird because its a bit more different than others, we are very orthodox etc ".
This in no way is the real picture . When, his sisters ask him to set the picture right,
he refuses. Why is he angry with Riya? The fault is his. Lies lead to problems.

This is a way of indirectly treating someone as a stranger though being well aware that the person will know the truth but still Shivam thinks his parents and sisters are standing at one side and Riya at the other side...
If he would have at least respected his relationship with Riya I'm not talking of love(I'm not interested here) he would have opened his heart to her and prevented Riya from falling in the tap or lie of Ashanti but they preferred to discuss among themselves they are a sick family as they can't live freely and happily so they keep on blaming Riya mainly Nimmi, Shivam and Cowshalya.(@bold i know lots will not agree with me but ...)

For a man who claims to love his family he has been the silent spectator who knows Amit is big time into gambling (he dragged him out of there the day of the wedding to bring him back home). He was suspicious that the man with the blackened face with the goons looked like Amit but didn't care to follow through. 😕

Shivam went with Amit (who was mostly spectator like a coward) and beat up Sujeev. Is that the behavior of a well-mannered man? He just beat up Sujeev without getting to the bottom of the story first.

For a man who has lived in the shadow of a domineering grandmother, a bullied mother and a father who expects him to live to his expectations and lacks self-confidence to stand up for the truth and do the right thing without trying to play into suppressing drama and keeping the false peace. Such situations only blow up like a volcano because there is emotions festering below the surface that is well hidden until a crack appears and all hell breaks loose.

He pretends that as long as the truth is kept under wraps and no one knows about Amit and his gambling the family peace will be maintained. The house may be named Shanti Sadan but it is by far the only house in that area who is anything but Shanti. There is some drama or the other every day. Shanti wants the nosy neighbors to mind their business but she is the first one to broadcast the drama in the house at the top of her lungs with her constant theatrics. Then she claims she can't take the drama anymore.

He tries to impress his father being the silent, obedient son in the family, but how is keeping secrets that will unravel sooner or later under wraps protecting the family in any way?

Now that he's married, the man who has suppressed his rage at his grandmother and father for treating his mother poorly over the years is venting his anger on his wife...after all she's new to the household and he can get away with telling her she knows nothing about joint family and keeping the peace in the home yet fails to take responsibility to clue her in about the model dysfunctional family of Mugalsarai.🤪

Shivam doesn't want Riya to know the details of his family for fear she will act to fix some of the problems. 😆

This is a way of indirectly treating someone as a stranger Yes, it is.

If he would have at least respected his relationship with Riya That's right. Total lack of

respect towards Riya & the marital relationship.

i know lots will not agree with me but ...) I agree totally.

Well said.
"sabko saath leke chalna..." according to Shivam, Koushalya etc means that

DIL should suffer deception, exploitation etc silently.

Agree. Shivam & Koushalya have a twisted, perverted logic of goodness.

They think of themselves as good people and Riya as 'not good' but they don't

seem to know that the concepts of 'Right & wrong' as well as honesty & equality are

basic to goodness. The story is ot working because riya is trying to do the right

thing for people who think that the right thing is very wrong.

Yes, totally Shivam has betrayed Riya in every way, no respect , no responsibility towards her and above all that he keeps her in darkness regarding the behavior of Shanti , Sarla, Amit pari.. just saying his family is different, is not enough ; how is Riya supposed to know ,these people go to what extent to have their own way , they steel, lie cheat, manipulate people ..
Just because Riya fell in love with him and was besotted ,doesn't mean he treat her like trash and wash his hands away from problems saying he had forewarned her .. its his lack of courage , communication skills and a clogged mindset- nothing should change in his house!! which is making him loser#1!! Too bad spa has no 'award' in category of 'loser husband' , else Shivam would win it hands down
Thank you CVs for being at your ruining best
