When they want to -they say its a show with a social message!
When they want to-they say its only entertainment-don't expect practical advice!
Today's scene where Riya calls Bunty about the emotional abuse & the threat of
domestic violence /hitting in her house, Bunty advices her to stay on , even if
shivam actually hits her. You can also hit him -that was such a lame advice!
We all know who gets hurt in domestic violence all over the world- the man or the woman?
Worse, Bunty tells her to 'adjust' as she was the one who wanted to marry Shivam.
So, if a man proposes , does that mean only the man has to make adjustments in the marriage?
Bunty, who is herself unmarried, is considered a good source of advice and they
made it look as though, Riya was doing a good thing when she says yes, she will stay
on even if her husband actually starts hitting her. Apparently, she will hit him too!
She can't get him to give her a hand with chores & she can't make him stop insulting her
in front of everyone & she will hit him! What a joke!
All NGOs and womens' centres all over the world
repeatedly say that the day a wife takes the first hit and continues to 'adjust'-
that is the day she seals her fate for a lifetime of abuse.
Makers should show such things with some responsibility!
In Shivam's case, so far, it doesn't look like he can beat her black & blue-
maybe only occassional slaps! Certainly,he doesn't care whether his wife works day & night ,
gives up all her earnings or cries all the time.
However, if his Mother or sisters are in any trouble of any sort,
he will come & punish Riya even if it was his fault & not hers!
The matter is plain & simple-he just doesn't care!
Bunty tells her to Adjust & Riya thinks thats good advice!

Well said and so needed.
Guess Riya had nobody on her side and so her call to Bunty but was surprised with Bunty thinking. She looks like a modern girl but was surprised with her saying that this is not Delhi but mogalserai.

Now I get why they have shown Riya dad with heart problems coz her only exit is blocked and she has no where to go but stay in SS

I am not sure what Naye Soch is here and so hope that girls do not get influenced with this crap

Bang On! The rationality behind this show is slowly slipping away. And now I am even thinking if they had any to begin with. Is this really the message they want to present to their audience?

If your husband is abusive, and constantly yells and berates you, and only defends his mom and sisters, who by the way, also take part in verbally abusing you as well. Stick through it! You will adjust and your life will eventually/maybe become better.

Really?

@Regal,
Thanks for repying! There is more irrationality to come-
Riya will go around looking guilty-as though she is the cause for Nimmi having
to beg/borrow money, she is the one who slapped Nimmi & she is the one who
told little girl Khushiya to take icy showers!!! Meanwhile Shivam & his sisters have
secret hugs , discussions &emotional reunions in which they refer to Daadi as 'Shashikala'
but when Riya appears, they hide everything from her just so they can
say-she doesn't know anything!😕🤢

I honestly can't believe I have stuck around this long for the show. I just want Riya to set everyone straight, but she seems to have to go through many hurdles. And instead of helping her, her husband is throwing more road blocks!

Riya will actually feel gulity, and Shivam and gang won't notice, and if they happen to notice they will make some snide comments about her. And then turn around and say that Riya doesn't care about anyone except herself.

I hate Shivam, Preeti, and Nimmi's secret meeting where they don't want to include Riya, but when Riya turns around is against them - they are suddenly upset. If you don't include and tell her things, don't be upset when she makes decisions based on half the facts. Nimmi is the most guilty in this situation.

I had the line Shivam said, "Riya will never come between us...". Like I understand you love your sisters and all. But she is your wife, treat her with some respect! She isn't a broom against a wall. She is person. And she has come into a house and has tried wholeheartedly to become a part of the household, but this is a house that takes backward thinking to a whole new level. Did you miraculously expect her to adjust?

Yikes I hate d group now not dat I was liking each of them individually off late bt Dere was a bond btw dem which looked pure n beautiful bt nw dat too luks fake..d girls hide abt dere relationship status wid assumably so close bhaiyya n pyaare bhaiyya too slaps his behena widout bothering to know d story from her side...really d trust factor tells all bt here bcz d lack of which riya ll b held responsible...Shivam ll get away wid a mistake owing to d so called bond 🥱
I agree I never expected dis kind of advice from bunty..advising not to break one's relationship is one thing bt justifying it wid a logic dat it was she who wanted to marry him or dat she must also beat him in retaliation was ridiculous

👏👏

SO right! The people putting this crap on tv are acting like Shivam, picking and choosing ideas that suit them and when it suits them! There is only one message here- the ignorant depths of whoever's mind this weird and twisted stuff comes from! I mean I could handle a horror movie based on this stuff because it would only be a few hours long- but day after day of mental and emotional torture?! No idea what they are trying to accomplish with this show.

I agree with everything you say- the (what should be in real life) catastrophic ""advice"" that Bunty was giving Riya. I think I nearly choked when I was listening to that bunch of - ugh I have no words. And no- in the world of MAM if a man proposes and a woman agrees then she has lost all rights to herself or her self-respect. Didn't you know? In MAM women are either psychotic sociopaths or timid ferrets afraid of their own shadow (until someone threatens to shatter their human idols). There are no normal, healthy, balanced, self-respecting, mature, objective, wise, caring women in MAM- oh wait maybe Riya...but if she keeps dumping on herself so much because of how others are treating her then we all know where that's headed too.

I mean blimey- I was unmarried once too and I know I managed better advice that "yeah dude its ok if he beats you, you just beat him back twice as hard- you know the OPPOSITE of ending the cycle of violence!".

Nope Shivam doesn't care about Riya, he doesn't love her. He does, however, love the idea of his new wife taking up the tortuous mantle of his mother's life story and being a scapegoat for his beloved sisters. Shivam is not a man creating his destiny or creating his life- he is a recycler. He regurgitates and recycles the same BS over and over and over. The names and faces change- but everything else stays the same. He never even wanted to get married in the first place. Take heed people, this is what happens when you pursue a man who doesn't pursue you back. In this, Riya is totally at fault. It sends an awful message to other young minds out there. I mean come on- their entire relationship's basis was built on a one sided love affair so really, what do we expect? Shivam wasn't ready for commitment, for marriage, for stepping out of his comfort zone and being the kind of man who has the strength, perseverance and courage to stand up for and protect his wife AND his mother and sisters. Riya was asking waaay too much of him- he was incapable of it from the start- I mean a grown man who wasn't able to really stand up for his mum and sisters BEFORE Riya came into the picture? Come on! How was it to get any easier for the poor soul adding another female into the mix?! He's a weakling.

Here you said it all: The matter is plain & simple-he just doesn't care!

What more is there to say? If he loved and cared for Riya the way he loves and cares for his mother and sisters then he would treat her as ""fairly"" (using this term very loosely) as he treats them. But how easy it is for him to bellow and shout and stare and tremble at her with contempt and disgust even. When Nimmi says something nasty to him about Riya he gives her the excuse of being young and immature, but when Riya says something even remotely about his sister (even if it is out of concern or worry) he flips the hell out. Is this love? No, as above, he simply just doesn't care. There was no ShivYa to begin with, what a joke! First it was a one sided love affair and then within the blink of an eye he suddenly developed feelings for her just because she professed her love for him on a football pitch in the rain. How is that any basis for ANYTHING meaningful that happened between them? Are young girls and boys to believe that this is how lasting relationships start?! LOL! I don't even think young minds are THAT stupid! Gods I hope not! NOTHING meaningful has ever happened between these two. It may as well have been a marriage arranged by dadi the way things have progressed, or the lack thereof.
