First of all, what a beautiful name you have! No wonder your IF id is linked to your name.
Next, I cannot imagine why you sounded almost apologetic and hesitant about this thread in your PM. I think it is a wonderful idea, and you have painstakingly collated so much information about the two significant aspects of today, as also about Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, one of our greatest scholar-philosopher- statesmen, that anyone reading these posts should appreciate your efforts.
In the Indian tradition, the guru ranks even above God, for it is he who teaches you to know and understand God. The sloka goes like this:
Gurur Brahma, gurur Vishnuhu, gurur devo Maheshwaraha,
Gurur sakshat Parambrahmaha,
Tasmey shri gurave namaha
The guru is Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara all in one (for the guru creates and preserves your mind and your spirit, and destroys all that is wrong in your mind, as Mahadev does for the universe). The guru is the embodiment of the Parabrahman, the Supreme Reality, and so I bow down before the guru.
As for Dr. Radhakrishnan, he was, for all his great learning, also impishly humorous at times. Someone once asked him to differentiate capitalism from communism. His response:
In capitalism, man exploits man. In communism, it is the reverse!😉
Here is wishing all of you a wonderful Ganesh Chaturthi, and all possible blessings from the
Vignaharta during the year ahead. Especially the best of health.
We have a Ganapathi sthapana in the lobby of our building here in Pune, Maharashtra, and we have a daily evening aarti and bhajans, plus the distribution of prasad by one or more families after the aarti. The eco-friendly Ganapati made of clay will not pollute the river during the visarjan. The kids in the building make the most fabulous new rangolis every day. It is all great fun.
