Allah's Sacred Month Muharram - Page 10

Although 10th of Muharram is commemorated more because of this brutal massacre, it is due to some other reasons as well that this day is remembered with respect the world over among the followers of all faiths and religions.

Hazrat Sheikh Abdur Rahman Safoori (RA), famous historian, researcher of Quran and Hadith, and one of the most uncontroversial writers from the city of Mecca, states in his globally-acclaimed book "Nuzhatul Majaalis" (Volume 1, p-181) that it was on the 10th of Muharram that Allah had created the skies, earth, oceans and heavens.

According to Hazrat Sheikh Abdur Rahman Safoori, who had obviously sought guidance from 114 Quranic Surahs, the following events had also taken place on the 10th of Muharram:

-It was on this day that Hazrat Adam (AS) and Hazrat Hawa (AS) were created.

-Hazrat Adam's (AS) was granted forgiveness or clemency on this day.

-Hazrat Nuh's (AS)'s boat (Noah's Ark) had come to land on this day.

-It was on 10th of Muharram that Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) had received the status of Khaleelullah (the friend of Allah).

-Hazrat Yaqub (AS) had met his son Hazrat Yusuf (AS) after 40 years on the 10th of Muharram.

-Prophet Hazrat Idrees (AS) was raised to the skies on this day.

-Hazrat Ayub (AS) had regained his health on this day.

-Hazrat Yunus (AS) was released from the stomach of the fish. In tremendous difficulty inside the belly of the fish, Hazrat Yunus had recited this famous prayer "La ilaha illa anta, Subhanaka, Inni kuntu minaz-zalimin (There is none worthy of worship other than you. You are far exalted and above all weaknesses. Surely, I am from amongst the wrongdoers). This prayer, also called "Ayat-e-Kareema," is described in Surah Al-Anbiya verses 87 and 88.

It was on 10th of Muharram that Hazrat Dawood (AS) had sought divine forgiveness, which was granted by the Prophet's Creator.

-Hazrat Sulaiman (AS) was rewarded with a Kingdom on 10th of Muharram.

-Jesus or Hazrat Esa (AS) was raised into the skies on 10th of Muharram.

-Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) had tied marital knot with Hazrat Bibi Khadija (RA) on this day, many years before the massacre of Karbala.

-It is on this day that Qiyamat or the Day of Resurrection will occur.

Further research shows that:

-It was on the first of Muharram 23 Hijri (year 644), Hazrat Umar Ibn Khattab (RA) was martyred during Fajr prayers by a Persian soldier Piruz Nahavandi or Abu Lulu. Hazrat Umar was buried in Madina alongside the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

-On Muharram 3, 235 Hijri or year 849, Hazrat Imam Ibn Abi Shayba (RA), the teacher of both Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, had left for his eternal abode.

-Muharram 5 marks the demise of the famous Chishti Shaykh Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masud Ganj-Shakar (RA), who was buried at Pakpattan near Sahiwal city.

-On Muharram 13, 989 Hijri, famous Persian sufi poet Hadrat Mawlana Abdur-Rahman Jami (RA) had died. He was buried in Herat, Afghanistan.

-On Muharram 24, 95 Hijri, Hazrat Imam Zain al-Abideen (the son of Hazrat Imam Hussain) had breathed his last.

-It was on Muharram 29, 1114 Hijri that Shaykh Muhammad Hujjat-ullah Faruqi Mujaddidi (RA), the grandson of Hazrat Mujaddid Alf Sani (RA), had died. He was buried at Sirhind, India.

It was also on Muharram 29 of 1176 Hijri, that great scholar and sufi saint Hazrat Shah Waliullah Muhadith Dehlavi (RA) had left for his heavenly abode.
