Very sad event yesterday. I am sure you have all heard by now how 32 people got killed by a 23 year old south korean student. The first shooting was at the residence building, the second shooting two hours apart was at the Engineering building. An indian born civil/environmental engineering professor GV Loganathan was also killed, age 51.😭😭

I am an engineering student at my university as well. These type of things should not happen at a place of learning. It is an ironic paradox, university should be open to all those who want to acquire greater knowledge, but they also are open to those who do such heinous crimes.😕

My deep sympathies for the family and friends. We should all say a prayer and wish all those affected courage to deal with the pain and sorrow that they have to deal with probably for the rest of their lives. 😭

When i first heard of the incident yesterday, i was completely shocked. such events did not have to happen, and they shouldnt of.

these academic facilities are meant to be grounds for further learning and development. a public place, where people should not feel their safety is at risk.

I'm also a 2nd year student at the univeristy of toronto, and if something like this were to occur here, that would be shocking.

my condolences go out to not just the victims and their families, but the entire student body at virgina tech.

a final note, the US goverment seriously needs some straightening out, their lack of gun regulations, is disgusting. in the states its soo easy to purchase a gun, its laughable. here in canada, we have the gun registry and a series of processes that any prospective buyer HAS to inlist and follow.

THe US should of learned after the columbine shooting. obviously they havent, and they've allowed yet again for another "Columbine" tragedy.

It is indeed extremely dreadful and gloomy. My heart goes out to parents and family members of the deseased. I do not have any words to express my sorrow. The Gunman is identified as Cho Seung-hui, a 23-year-old English major from South Korea. This kid was a scholar and noone knows what lead him to this dreadful act.
