Bhaiya Mere Rakhi ke Bandhan ko nibhana...
Bhaiya mere, choti behen ko na bhulana...
Lata Ji's song is a must on this special day! Yes IFians, we are here to celebrate one of the most beautiful bonds in the world, that is, the bond between siblings, specifically brothers and sisters. Although, the day of Raksha Bandhan is primarily for brothers and sisters, it has over the years expanded to include non-blood relations, cousins and sisters tying rakhi to one another too. Some women will also visit mandirs and tie rakhi to Lord Krishna.
The words, Raksha and Bandhan mean Protection and Bond. By tying a rakhi (a thread) to one's brother, the sister prays for her brother's prosperity, health and happiness, while the brother vows to protect his sister from any harm. It is also common for brothers to give gifts to their sisters on this day.
Your siblings are typically your closest friends (despite the fights when you were kids) and have your back no matter what. And even though like mother's day and father's day, one doesn't need a specific day to show love, affection and the strength of a sibling bond, Raksha Bandhan is still a day to cherish and spend time with your siblings. So make the most of it, life is very short!
Wishing you all a very happy Raksha Bandhan.đ¤ Before you all run off to tie rakhis... scroll down for the fun rakhi contest!...đ
