Gr8 topic! I miss india sooo much and have so many memories. Although i have been living in U.S. for many years now and i only lived in india for a year, i visit india at least once a year for at least one month. But one month never seems like enough.

First, i miss my relatives. I have soooo many cousins in india. and only a few of them have come to visit me and my family here in the States. But it's always more fun to go there. My older cousins have small children now and i love them to death and i miss them too. i have a very small cousin who i've only met once but she's sooo adorable and i got so attached to her when i went this past year and now i really miss her. My older cousins (who arent yet married) are so cool and they always make sure that i have a lot of fun whenever i come visit them. In short, all my cousins are more of brothers and sisters to me than cousins.

Second, i miss the relaxation. Oh the relaxation. Everyone is so happy go lucky there. over here it's all about work. if u dont work, u wont have money and u wont have food to eat. over there it's like ok we got through today and we'll see about tomorrow. Like when i went this past year, all i did was watch movies with my cousins, talk, eat, and go for an occasional outing.

Third i miss the food (especially the food the servants make, yummilicious!!). My grandmother's servant makes the best food and almost everyday we were there we ate basin paratha with achaar and daii with mango as dessert or curry chawal. And also, whenever we went out to eat, the food was so different and i was quite impressed. and also, pizza hut. India's pizza hut is absolutely the best!! I love how they add the masala to the pizza and make tandoori chicken pizza (how original!). And i miss my auntie's cooking. Mmmmm, so good. the cakes, the noodles, the saag paneer, the rice, the chicken, and so much more!!

Then there's the weddings. i love weddings. they are so elaborate and it is so much fun to go to each and every one of the functions. then there's getting mehndi done (my favorite!!) and choosing suits/lehngas/chooridars to wear at the wedding but most of all i love meeting all my family that comes from all over india to attend the wedding. Sadly, I have missed at least 3 weddings that my cousins had. it is so depressing becoz they all get married in the winter and in the winter, i can never come because i get so much work and the time of year is so busy. of course, my family sends the videos of my cousins' marriages but its not the same. I hope that i never have to miss any of my cousins' weddings again.

Then there's the shopping. I think that best shopping is always in delhi at janpat. Every year i go, i always get a new purse. even though its hot outside, its so much fun to browse the shops and look at suits/shawls, looking at authentic india items and the jewelry. the jewelry rocks, it is so beautiful and every year i make it a point to get some type of jewelry.

Last but definitely not least (dont laugh guys), the smell of india. it feels like u r at home and the smell is just so pure and it feels so nice. Also, whenever our plane lands in india and we get out, i love the feeling i get. it feels as if this is your country and u have come home after so long. It's wondeful!!

Finally, i want share some memories:

My grandparents own a hotel in india (it's not like a 5 star or anything) and everyone there is so nice and so willing to help. whenever we go their, my two cousins, me and my sis get the keys to any room we want that is available and go up to the room and order food: french fries, lollipop chicken, drinks, sandwiches, and ice cream.

Once, about a couple of years ago (i know this is mean), my two cousins locked the servant in the bathroom while he was taking a bath and it was so funny. of course he got mad at us, but we eventually opened the door for him 😆.

Also, even though i only celebrated diwali and holi once in india. it was so much fun. we lighted candles, saw fireworks during diwali. during holi, me and a few of my cousins through colors at each other and it was really a lot of fun.

One of the best memories was when i went to my village for the very first time. We didnt tell any1 at first that my cousin drove us there and we saw our "haveli" which was about 70 to 80 yrs. old. we also went to someone's home (stranger's) and she was our tour guide and she showed us around the village. I loved it. of course, we got in trouble but i can never forget this experience.

So that's about it!!
