Mother's Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.

The modern holiday of Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at St.Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Her campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognised holiday in the United States began in 1905, the year her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, died. Anna Jarvis wanted to honour her mother by continuing the work she started and to set aside a day to honour all mothers, because she believed that they were "the person who has done more for you than anyone in the world".

In most countries, Mother's Day is an observance derived from the holiday as it has evolved in the United States. As adopted by other countries and cultures, the holiday has different meanings, is associated with different events (religious, historical or legendary), and is celebrated on different dates.

In some cases, countries already had existing celebrations honouring motherhood, and their celebrations then adopted several external characteristics from the US holiday, such as giving carnations and other presents to one's mother.

The extent of the celebrations varies greatly. In some countries, it is potentially offensive to one's mother not to mark Mother's Day. In others, it is a little-known festival celebrated mainly by immigrants, or covered by the media as a taste of foreign culture. The only common constant through all these variations is the love and respect for all the mothers.

We, at the Crazy Creatives, express a truckload of respect for the women who bear us for all our lives, expecting nothing in return.

Salute to y'all!

"Girls, are we ready?", Screeched Leela Mausi in her unfashionable tone. The announcement was met with a cheeky grin from all the ladies as the flash captured that moment in a relishing selfie, albeit in the bus.

The Young group (with a singly old Leela Mausi) was headed to Goa for a vacation of sorts. No, it wasn't a Sunday, not a festival or a leave. It was this special day called the "Mother's Day". And rightly so, mothers of all ages had come up with this wonderful idea of an escape to Goa.

"Have you packed your Tiffin? Did you have your breakfast?", Inquired Arti, a 38 year old mother. Well, it was never easy for her to leave her kids, specially collegians, and come over. The constant inquiries made by her on the phone often irked Simmy, who was a single mother and 27 years old.

"Just relax Arti! Your kids will learn to become independent only when you stop taking care of their every small requirement."

The bus came to a halt as they smelled the salty Goan air.

"Oh! We're here!", they screamed.

They hit the beach, all of them, including Leela Mausi - in an adorable floral gown. Simmy flaunted her curves in a swimsuit while Rekha, Arti & Vandana wore jeans and shirt. The day passed smoothly, with partying in the pub, gambling at casino, listening to rock music and what not.Tired from the day's stress and frolic, everyone retired to their rooms rather early.

Simmy was still at the beach, with wet eyes and a solemn look, staring at the rising and falling waves.

Rekha approached her and she started off...

"Krishy feels alone. All day he was crying. And it's not today he's feeling it. He misses his father and I feel somewhere I've failed as a mother. How do I make him realise I cannot stay at home like others?"

"It's not exactly that. Maybe you've to work a little harder, to make him understand. Spend time with him, show him your workplace and just talk it out. I don't need to tell you what strength rests in a mother. You know why children stay with their moms after divorce? Cause we've the capability to raise a child, give it values and provide him with a good upbringing."

"You've been lucky! You work, your family supports you and your children are just fine".

"It wasn't the case earlier. I've had my own struggle. I'd to fight out for it. But now I'm satisfied, my kids recognise me as a mother and know how to respect my stance."

"And just for once, let us leave behind our family worries and just enjoy. It's a day for ourselves", cheered Arti.

"Taking care of one's own self is more important in the long run", reasoned Leela Mausi.

"And, spending good moments with friends is equally healthy for mental peace!", Shouted Vandy as they captured another lovely moment to cherish.

"Mothers thy are and mothers thy be"

Sometimes their care is a worry for us and often, we don't care for their worry. Whoever she is, whatever she be, a mother is always a support system for the children. She's a force to reckon with, a bankable lifeline that cannot be let gone of, by any chance. They may fuss, they may shout, they may love. But mothers are magnificent, optimistic, tend to our pains, heal our wounds, erect our personalities, rectify our mistakes and sense our feelings.

We, at the Crazy Creatives, find no reason why there must be only one day to celebrate the spirit of Motherhood. So wishing all a very happy Mother's Day, everyday!

Mothers have always been a symbol of divinity & ethereality. They're considered as angels sent by the Almighty on Earth, as a guiding light for humans. But what happens when God Himself becomes a child to a mother? Here's celebrating the Mother's Day special by taking a mythological route down the ancient lane!

Parvati - Lord Ganesha
The Elephant God was albeit given birth by shaping the uptan (turmeric mixture used as a cleansing agent for skin) from Maa Parvati's body. The statue was breathed life into & presto! Came alive the most wise and lovable deity in the universe.
Devaki - Krishna - Yashoda
This unique trio will always be remembered for their perseverance & sacrifice. Devaki, in her brother's captivity, gives birth to Lord Krishna, the avatar of Lord Vishnu. Due to His grace, Vasudev somehow escapes the clutches of the guards and exchanges his Son for Nand's just born daughter in Vrindavan. Yashoda's love for Krishna is well known by all. Right from shielding him from the grumbling gopis to worrying about him regarding demons, she was a perfect example of a doting mother. After 18 years when Yashoda comes to know the truth, she tearfully bids goodbye to her Son and allows him to fulfill his duties.
Sita - Luv & Kush
Exiled by Maryadapurshottam Shri Ram, Sita inculcated good values in her sons despite of all the hardships she had to face. She never let them hold a grudge against their father and made sure they respected Shri Ram.
Anjana - Hanuman
Anjana, a monkey queen, had to perform great penance to please Vaayu Dev before she could get a charming son in return. She got a fruit as a blessing. After eating it was born Lord Maruti, the protector of mankind & the greatest devotee anyone had seen or heard of.
Panchali - Abhimanyu
Even as the brothers were fighting it out on the battlefield in Mahabharata, there existed a sweet pair of Mother & Son. Abhimanyu, the son of Subhadra & Arjuna, was equally loved by Draupadi, Arjuna's first wife. They shared a special bond as Abhimanyu vowed to take revenge for her Badi Maa's insult and Draupadi did every bit possible to keep him safe and protected.
