Swara, meaning self shining in the oldest language Sanskrit, the name is as beautiful as this young lady herself. Beauty is not by appearance but by a person's soul. This very famous statement totally suits our Swara Bose here. A fun-loving soul who enjoys life to her fullest, Swara is one of the most kind-hearted people and is a girl of modern times.
She carries an aura of positivity around her because of which nobody can resist liking this young girl. With music in her veins, notes in her throat and tunes in the heart, she is a singer and an ace guitarist who can mesmerize anyone with her melodious, enchanting voice. While everything was going on well, suddenly everything changed, one day-
She came to know the biggest truth of her life. That she Swara, is the daughter of Shekhar uncle who is her neighbor! The caring soul that she is she instantly wanted the reunion of her parents. Also, being brought up only by Ma and Dida, she always craved for a prefect family. After a lot of struggle and with the help of Lakshya and Ragini she reunited them and her life was perfect until the devil entered.
Sanskaar Maheshwari, the believed dead son of Maheshwaris who had now become mad. But yet she shared something with him. A connect. She inside knew that he was faking this madness, that wants to destroy her. Her, now venomous sister, had forced Swara to love Lakshya and soon they were to get married but then, finally the truth unveiled in front of her. However, her destroyer had now turned savior. Swara forgave Sanskaar, instantly realizing his quest for vengeance because of his love and when again everything was to be perfect, a tyrannous storm hit her life.
Her sister, her very own Ragini pushed her in the doors of death and married her fianc. Her Ma-Baba broke up and so did her heart. But she found comfort and solace in the soothing words and friendship of her new best friend Sanskaar. Swara never gives up! She never gave up upon the truth. She wasn't wrong and her innocence was proved with Sanskaar's help. She never gave up on the fact that someday Ragini might change. She never gave up on the fact that she wasn't wrong when she had been maligned, when she was a betrayer for Lakshya, when she had been charged of kidnapping her sister and neither then, when she was all set to marry her new and true love after all, Sanskaar. All the times spent with her best friend were healing and opening her heart and what his presence could not do, separation did, thus opening a new world for her full of love. She faced troubles here too. She had to leave him for Kavita, his first love, but when united with him, she fought against all odds and enemies for her relationship. Swara Bose is the epitome of strength, generosity, love, affection, confidence and righteousness and that's why we all love her.
Ragini
Ragini Gadodia, the only daughter of Shekhar & Janaki was raised by her daadi after the early death of her mother. Ragini was a conservative girl who always dreamt of meeting her dream man & marrying him. Lakshya Maheshwari came into her life as an embodiment of all her childhood dreams. And before she knew it she was irrevocably in love with him.
Good fortune smiled on her when she met her half sister Swara Bose, daughter of Sharmishtha Bose, Shekhar's first love. They had an instant soul connect & went on to become the inseparable Swaragini. The sister's united their parents in holy matrimony but Ragini paid for it by having to break off her engagement with Lakshya.
Lakshya & Ragini united once more on Sanskaar's insistence. Ragini's happiness knew no bounds as she was getting back her love. But there was more heart break in store for her when she learnt that Lakshya loved her sister Swara. This incident changed her forever & this change was ushered in by none other than Sanskaar. Sanskaar & Ragini plotted to separate the two lovebirds. It climaxed with Ragini pushing her sister off a bridge into a river & ended up taking Swara's place in the mandap & marrying Laksh. In the process she sacrificed her friendship with Sanskaar, her relationship with Swara & also her Ma Baba's marriage.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Ragini went on to prove this idiom when Laksh refused her her conjugal rights as a wife & she found out that he still loved Swara. After that she stopped at nothing to get Lakshya. Deception, drugs, murder, kidnapping, slander, coercion...she did it all. Even after getting exposed she was determined to get back Lakshya & punish SwaSan for everything they had done. She faked a memory loss which she ended only to come up with an even more dangerous plan where she tried to prove Swara was two timing the cousins. But even here she was exposed by Swara. Things took a turn for the worse when Lakshya kidnapped Ragini & then tried to kill her. Unable to digest the constant rejection & insults she stopped wishing for Lakshya's love & instead concentrated on avenging her insults. Using Annapurna's failing health & Durga Prasad's secret past Ragini went on to become the owner of the house & all their businesses. She was jolted out of this revenge mode of hers when Lakshya saved her from an attack on her life & the Maheshwari's chose to forgive her. Her anger & resentment melted away when Laksh accepted her as his wife. But Laksh betrayed her again & jilted her at the altar where he had promised to remarry her. Much to her shock Lakshya had divorced her & had married his girlfriend Kavya. A year later, Ragini now finds herself standing where she had started her journey with a big burden of bad Karma as her only companion apart from her sister Swara.
Swaragini
Swaragini-Sisters by Heart
While one is the girl of modern times, second is reserved and conservative, yet their devotion towards the Almighty binds them together. While one has a guitar in her hands and one plays the sitar, yet their music ties them together. While one is a Bengali and other a Marwari, religions of humanity and generosity bind them together. However different these two beautiful young ladies might be, they share a beautiful bond, the bond of affection, love and compassion for each other which they fondly call- SwaRagini.
Swaragini can fight all odds and emerge victorious just like when they had reunited their parents and this strength of theirs comes from their bond which is like a knot. Just like they way, a knot slackens but never breaks, so doesn't the sisterhood of Swaragini. A knot has to go through pushes and pulls, ups and downs which the Swaragini relationship had to go through as well.
When both fell for the same man and Lakshya chose Swara over Ragini, the obsession to snatch her first love back removed the love Ragini had for her sister. Her heart became full of venom to the extent that she was ready to kill her sister. That's when this knot was just about to break but Swara would never let that happen. She survived the shock of losing her love and family but determined to put everything straight and become Swaragini again, she went against her sister. She succeeded in her aim but failed in getting her sister back. Ragini this time filled with the poison of vengeance swore to destroy her sister at any cost. Again playing the game of innocence, she tried to malign Swara yet not realizing, what a gem her sister is. But Swara was no more a fool, she realized that the knot was again loose and in her wrath said that Swaragini would never be back again. But that never meant that she would kidnap her sister. Still she had to face the punishment of the crime she never did, and then Ragini realized that Swara was never wrong. Again Swaragini reunited to find the culprit, who was none other than Lakshya.
But the bond was not strong even now. Still present were the faults, the insecurities and no trust. Money and power deprives a man of his goodness and humility. Ragini became greedy and revengeful because Lakshya had tried to kill her. Swara, infuriated with her behavior, again stood in front of her with the hope of bringing her back, but alas there was yet no avail. But deep beneath both had the love and care for each other. When Swara was reunited with Sanskaar and finally Ragini got the love that she wanted from Lakshya all became well. This time the villain wasn't Ragini and to catch her, Swaragini again reunited, this time with more strength. Ragini realized her faults seeing Swara's care and apologized. Swara's happiness knew no bounds and Swaragini together solved each other's problems thus tightening their knot again!
Sanskaar Maheshwari, the eldest son of Ram Prasad and Sujata Maheshwari, began his journey in Swaragini as the rather mysterious cousin of the main lead at the time, Lakshya. Sanskaar's role was entirely unusual- that of a traumatised lover, driven to madness by grief on the day of his secret wedding, especially when it became clear that the madness was a pretense to take revenge from his uncle and cousin, whom he believed caused his girlfriend's tragic death. Sanskaar formed a friendship with Ragini Gadodia, Lakshya's then fiance, and the antics of the addled young man with his "duppatewaali dost" led to much interest from viewers. Sanskaar was shown as distinctly "grey"; he gave impetus for the hidden vindictiveness in the seemingly angelic Ragini to manifest, in a bid to win her love Lakshya away from her sister, Swara.
Sanskaar masterminded, with Ragini, numerous ills against the straightforward Swara to discredit her and thus break off her relationship with Lakshya, to a pivotal point when Sanskaar finally gave into his conscience, which chided him for making Swara a totally innocent casualty. Since then, it was clear that Sanskaar was to be a key lead character in Swaragini.
The show then went to on show a truly masterful redemption for Sanskaar, who fell in love irrevocably with the same girl he had tried to hurt, making recompense to her in a way that led to a love story that has touched a multitude of hearts.
Sanskaar is the type of character not usually seen in the often "black and white" world serials. He is unashamedly a man of contrasts- a realist, who nevertheless proved to be a totally romantic and steadfast lover. His love is like him- uncompromising but irrefutable, and deeply powerful and moving. Sanskaar will do what is necessary, without hypocrisy or apology. When he loved Swara, he announced it to her, and the world, in a way that made us fall in love with him. He stood by her through unimaginable trials, never demanding that she reciprocate. He was always patient, despite the strength of his love being monumental enough to move mountains. Even when in love though, he was never a doormat. Be it his own mother or Swara, whilst Sanskaar will allow the people he loves a lot of leeway, he will be no-one's slave.
We witnessed a heartbroken Sanskaar, who smilingly bore the agony of unrequited love, and yet showed Swara his unswerving loyalty and support. When a marriage was forced on them by the Ragini, instead of rejoicing at being bound to Swara, he only felt her pain and made her an astounding promise- that he would never force his will on her or ask her to accept him if she did not want to.
After incredible tribulations, when he had lost all hope, Swara too fell deeply in love with him, but Ragini's machinations again parted them. At that time, we witnessed the angry and stubborn Sanskaar- a sight to inspire fear and dread for viewers used to seeing the immensely loving man who would do anything for his Swara. When it seemed all that was coming right, fate cruelly brought back Kavita to his life and more drama ensued, forcing yet more obstacles in his way to realising his love. Finally, it seems that Sanskaar is going to get the reward he justly deserves- a marriage to his soul mate Swara, and the exit of his ex-girlfriend's maleficent presence.
Sanskaar is the epitome of the ideal man and it is easy to see why he inspires a fan following that is as loyal as he is and devoted to every aspect of the package of special that makes the incredible and unforgettable Sanskaar Maheshwari.
Laksh Maheshwari is the son of Durgapasad Maheshwari and Annapurna Maheshwari. Irascible, spoilt and flawed - on the best of days, Laksh is difficult and frustrating and hard to like. However, his abiding love for his family, and his willingness to put everything at stake for them, including his happiness, do twinge the heart. Laksh doesn't do things in half measures - he feels everything deeply, be it overpowering rage or overwhelming passion. These are the contradictions that make him such an interesting character.
The inherent contradiction and dichotomy in his character is evident in his two personas - on one hand, there is Lucky, the rich, spoilt brat with a devil may care attitude, born out of his need to rebel against his family and its stifling ways. On the other hand, there is Laksh Maheshwari, devoted son and beloved brother, who can go to any lengths to protect and avenge the same family.
It was the fun-loving, irresponsible Lucky who was intended for Ragini but fell in love with Swara, and it was the sombre, penitent Laksh with the weight of the world on his shoulders that eventually married Ragini. It was fickle and reckless Lucky's actions, really, that set in motion the events that would make and break so many people and so many lives, but little did he realize it then. Swara embodied everything that Lucky had ever wanted in his dream girl, and he was willing to do anything to ensure that he got his happily-ever-after. In his quest for Swara's love he mindlessly trampled over her sister's Ragini's heart, whose love for him knew no bounds, and destroyed her sanity and her very being. It was guilt and remorse that eventually lead him to marry her, and Lucky gave way to a dutiful, responsible, mature and grown-up Laksh.
When Laksh discovered Ragini's betrayal and bore witness to her madness and her ill-treatment of his family, repentant, remorseful Laksh burnt to the ground and out of the ashes emerged a new Laksh - this time forged with rage and a thirst for revenge. Not a man to do anything in half-measures, Laksh's thirst for revenge blinded him so completely that he decided to break Ragini in the worst possible way - by playing with her emotions and using her body, and leading her to believe that he loved her, before breaking her completely, utterly into tiny pieces.
His pursuit of vengeance blinded him absolutely - so much so that he wilfully ignored what his heart was telling him, that people do change. Laksh listened to his mind over his heart, and in doing so not only destroyed the one person who loved him absolutely and to the point of madness, but also set himself and his family up for more unhappiness - the same family for whom he had walked down this path in the first place. Heart and mind at war, that is what seems to be Laksh's curse and one can only hope that Laksh finds peace, absolution and happiness somewhere along the way.
SwaSan- an amalgamation of Swara and Sanskaar is now a lynchpin of the show. This beautiful couple started the show as adversaries. Sanskaar set out to ruin Swara- she was collateral damage in his quest for misguided revenge. Finally, her innocence touched him and his conscience rebelled, and the destroyer turned savior. Swara for her part forgave him without any hesitation and gave him a new lease of life. She made him see the error of his ways and offered him understanding instead of repulsion, her soft heart overcome by his pain.
Thus started a tentative and unlikely friendship, which was cemented when he helped her to regain her life after the most horrific of betrayals by her sister. Sanskaar felt truly, madly and deeply in love with Swara during a pretend marriage, and whilst being her friend. As she once saved him from darkness and despair, he has since been her guardian and guide. His steadfast support and unstinting loyalty grounded her during the time when everyone, including her very own near and dear ones, abandoned her. He was and is her rock, her shield and her sword. They both healed each other in different ways and learnt to laugh together and find solace in each other amidst the worst of times. Swara feared his love- having no yardstick for true trust and love, such immense feeling can be frightening and so she refused to acknowledge or reciprocate his heartrending adoration but he was patient and kind, never demanding but always accepting.
However his selfless devotion triumphed and she finally too succumbed to what was always inevitable. She loved him in a way worthy of his awe inspiring love and fought for the one thing that truly mattered to her and to them- him and his heart. It was then Sara's turn to face heartbreak as circumstances, and Sanskaar's own disillusions, forced them apart again, both agonised and shattered. When it seemed misunderstandings would resolve, a ghost from the past intruded and SwaSan faced third party interference in the form of his ex girlfriend. However nothing could stand in their way and they both eventually accepted each other-their mutual acceptance of feeling leading to a truly golden phase in the show. A re-marriage was planned but that too faced overwhelming odds. However, in time for the 1st Anniversary, SwaSan are finally married with all the required ceremony and with no doubts in their hearts this time whatsoever. New challenges already await them, but when they are together, they will endure and triumph over all, so we cannot wait to see them at the next stage of their already epic journey.
SwaSan to us are the epitome of entwined souls, each one truly completes the other. Their love transcends boundaries and is a marriage and union of their very spirits. SwaSan are synonymous with love. All that they do, feel and experience is as perfect as them, whether in pain, or joy, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer and not even death shall part them, as some loves live on forever.
RagYa
RagYa-A Tale of Desire
"Love, hate, such a fine line..."
That, basically, defines Ragini and Laksh's relationship in a nutshell. Born out of deception and betrayal, and forged in profound love and overpowering hatred...their's is a story like no other.
Laksh was intended for Ragini, but fell for her sister Swara instead. Swara embodied everything that Laksh had ever wanted in his dream girl, and he was willing to do anything to ensure that he got his happily-ever-after. In his quest for Swara's love, he mindlessly trampled over Ragini's heart, whose love for him knew no bounds, and destroyed her sanity and her very being. So much so that she would have gone to any lengths to have him, and she did. Ragini and Laksh got married...and so began their tumultuous journey of pain and passion.
In the beginning, Ragini, for Laksh, was a simple tool against Swara, and unwittingly, like many others, he ended up pushing Ragini, weaned on insecurity and mistrust all her life, further down a path lit with hatred and obsession. Ragini, completely consumed by her obsessive, frenzied love for Laksh, set out wreaking havoc on anyone and everyone who seemingly stood in the way of her quest for Laksh's love, even if it be her beloved sister Swara.
When Laksh realized the demon that Ragini had turned into, he set down his own path of vengeance and hatred. Not a man to do anything in half-measures, Laksh's thirst for revenge blinded him so completely that he decided to break Ragini in the worst possible way - by playing with her emotions and using her body, and leading her to believe that he loved her, before breaking her completely, utterly into irreparable shards.
It is at this point that Ragini and Laksh stand today...having left behind in their wake complete madness, destruction, chaos and immeasurable pain. But all is not lost...their tale of love and loss may yet be. Both Ragini and Laksh are immensely damaged people who have done terrible, terrible things, but all those things came from a misguided sense of love and hate, and the inability to let go. To any sane person, it may look like they've ruined things far too much to be able to salvage any love out of the wreckage, but since when has love been sane ?
"Bada badtameez, besharam, khudgarz hota hai par pyaar toh aisa hi hota hai..."
When you look at it, at the core, Laksh and Ragini are literally the same people, really crazy, really f**ked up, and their capacity for both love and hatred is infinite. Be it love or hatred, they both do nothing in half measures, no matter what the cost. Soulmates and twin souls in the truest sense of the word. Sane people, normal people, may simply not be equipped to handle that level of passion and insanity. One can only hope that they pause in their cycle of pain and destruction to take a breath and realize what they can mean to each other...
SwaLak
SwaLak-Never meant to be
Their story started from an instant dislike from Swara for Lakshya.. She did not want her neighbour Ragini to marry him as she considered him a spoilt brat. He did not want to marry Ragini and so he digged out a secret - SwaRagini being step secrets and exposed it in such a way further degrading himself in Swara's eyes... realising his mistake he helped Swara and Ragini in uniting their parents going against the wishes of his mighty father thereby earning Swara's friendship and gradually he started falling in love with her but all Swara considered him was her sister's fianc. He was again matched with Ragini because of his cousins wishes but his heart was not into it and decided to break it off resulting into him being on the receiving end of Swara's anger and losing her friendship. But Destiny had different plans it was bringing Swara and Lakshya close through tue planning and plotting of Ragini and Sanskaar. She was kidnapped he was blamed she knew of his innocence and so took it upon herself to prove his innocence. The journey of proving him innocent and little pushes from her sister made her fall in love with him and thus started their love story, their journey of love but maybe destiny was against it or maybe because they weren't meant to be her sister and his cousin were hell bent on destroying their bond. She was blamed to be a spoilt modern girl who takes drugs and was not interested in marrying him and he was misguided into believing that all that was true where in the end Lakshya ended up marrying Ragini leaving Swara shattered. She strived hard and with the help of his cousin proved her innocence but had made it very clear she wont ever go back to Lakshya. He tried very hard to win her back but it was too late her destiny had already been linked with someone else's. Later on he realised that she had moved on and let her go and she realised she had never been in love with Lakshya thereby ending the beautiful bond between SwaLak.
RagSan
RagSan-Friends to Foe
"Mohabbat Buri Hai, Buri Ha Mohabbat
Kahe Ja Rahe Hain, Kiye Ja Rahe Hain"
Love and betrayal can make a person do things we can't even envisage. Durgaprasad and Laksh murdered Sanskar's beloved, his own family betrayed him...or so he thought. Betrayal haunted Ragini too, who was madly in love with Laksh. Laksh fell for her sister Swara.
The common pain, and the desire for vengeance, united Sanskar and Ragini. They executed many wicked plans to separate Laksh and Swara. They were successful in creating misunderstanding between the couple.
"Hum dil se bure nahi hai par kabhi kabhi hamari achchayi hamare faeda utha lete hai, humara pyar hi hum e kuch galat karne pe majboor kar deta hai"-Ragini
As fate would have it the pain of innocent Swara affected Sanskar and he had a change of heart. He rescued her from the evil witch Mohini. Her words made him realize his mistake. He asked Ragini to back off. Ragini, who was obsessed with Laksh, denied. In a twist of fate, it was now the friendship between Sanskar and Ragini that was threatened.
Ragini tried to kill Swara and tricked Laksh to marry her. Sanskar saved Swara and vowed to help her in every pros and cons of her life. This was his redemption. He ended up falling in love with Swara and married her. Sanskar and his dupattewali friend Ragini became enemies for life.
There was another twist in the already twisted tale. Laksh accepted Ragini's love, his love changed her to a better person. When Swara's life was threatened by the evil plans of Kavita, Ragini and Sanskar joined hands again, this time to save her.
Sanskar and Ragini thus completed a full circle in their relationship - from friendship to hatred and back to friendship.
Deenanath Gadodia and Parvati Gadodia are very strict and give values to their Marwari society a lot. They are against the Bengali society, especially their neighbours, the Bose Family and don't want to accept Sharmishtha Bose as their daughter-in-law and Swara Bose as their Granddaughter as they are non-vegetarian Bengalis.
They want to bring up their dearest daughter-in-law Ragini to whom they call Lado, without making her realize that her mother isn't alive and they are proud of their dearest daughter in laws values. So they want her to get married with Lakshya the son of prestigious family of their Marwari society, Maheshwari family but Lakshya doesn't want to marry Ragini.
Both of them, especially Dadi participate in all good and bad deeds of Ragini for Swara or anyone else. Dadi doesn't want Sharmishta as their daughter in law still and tries every possibility to prove Sharmishtha and Swara wrong.
~Bose Family~ A family that needs no Man!!!
Swara Bose, the protagonist of the show has been brought up by two of the most amazing and inspiring ladies: Shobha Bose, her grand mother, who she lovingly calls Dida and her mom, Sharmistha Bose Gadodia. Sharmista, after finally giving up on her unhappy first marriage, decided to come back to her mom with her little girl Swara. The ladies share a great bond with one another and are each other's strength. When one of them cries, the other two are always ready to wipe those tears and fight with the person responsible for those tears. Swara, while growing up had no restrictions whatsoever. Swara has been taught to be honest and truthful and fight for what she believes in. Swara like her mother and Dida, has learnt never to give up. The ladies have stood together and are righteous.
Swara is an exact replica, "parchai" of her mom and dida. While she got her naughtier and chirpy side from her Dida, she got her headstrong and matured nature from her Mom. Bose family always believes in forgiving and giving second chances. Dida, was the first one to forget her enmity with Parvati Gadodia and extend the hands for friendship for her daughter's happiness. Even after not being accepted completely by the Gadodia Family after her marriage with Shekhar Gadodia, Sharmistha and Swara with their patience and maturity won the hearts of the family and made their own place. Sharmistha loves Ragini as dearly as she loves Swara and always wants the best for both of her daughters. Dida, Sharmishta and Swara are strong, independent woman who inspire the woman audience to be more like them.
Gadodia family
Ragini, protagonist, turned antagonist and now protagonist, was brought up by a very strict and close minded Marwari family. Having lost her mother Janaki Gadodia at a very young age, Ragini was brought up by her grand Parents Deendayal Gadodia and Parvati Gadodia and her father Shekhar Gadodia. The family, being conservative, always believed that the elders of the family should take the decision for their children while children can not have an opinion of their life. They considered it disrespectable for children to voice their opinion out about anything. They believed that getting married outside of caste was a sin. Hence, despite of loving a Bengali girl Sharmistha, Shekhar, under the pressure of his parents, ends up marrying a cultured, Marwari girl, Janaki. But things changed after Swara and Ragini learned the truth of their parents relationship and them being half-sisters. Both decided to join hands and fight to unite their parents and give them a happy life, not worrying about the society. The fight was hard, especially because it was against their family. But the sisters were successfully able to unite their parents. Even though it took time, Sharmistha and Swara became the part of the Gadodia family in real sense.
While that happened, Ragini, who was raised with the idea of falling in love with the man she was engaged too, Lakshya Maheshwari - became an antagonist, creating difficult situations in the life of Swara and Sharmishta. While no one in the Gadodia family believed the mother daughter duo over Ragini, when Ragini's true colors were revealed, Gadodia family was forced to accept that nature of upbringing is what matters and not the clothes and the outspoken attitude of children. With this, the family changed their vision about the values and customs and became more open minded accepting Swara and Sharmishta once again.
Sanskaar Maheshwari, an antagonist turned protagonist and Laksh Maheshwari, protagonist, but with the shades of grey character, are two sons brought up in a very strict and a close-minded Marwari family. Laksh is the son of Durga Prasad Maheshwari, the head of the family and Annapurna Maheshwari. He also has an elder brother, Adarsh Maheshwari, who is married to Parineeta Maheshwari. Sanskaar and Laksh are first cousins and few months apart, Sanskaar being the elder one, he is the son of Ram Prasad Maheshwari, Durga Prasad Maheshwari's younger brother and Sujata Maheshwari. Sanskaar also has a younger sister, namely Uttara Maheswari.
Durga Prasad Maheshwari is not only the head of the family, but is also the president of the Marwari caste. He used to consider himself as a sole decision maker of his family. He was very strict, rude and ruthless. He hated Gadodia's, especially Swara for her "illegitimate" status. But certain turn of events completely changed his outlook towards life and Swara. He accepted Swara into the family as his daughter. Annapurna Maheshwari, is the first lady of the Maheshwari household, who takes care of the family. She loves each and every member of the family equally and dearly. She is more lenient towards her own son, Laksh. Even when Durga Prasad Maheshwari was ready to accept Swara for his son Laksh, she was still skeptical in accepting Swara because of her Bengali background. She was more fond of Ragini since she was a cultured, Marwari girl. But with the turn of events, Annapurna accepted Swara as her daughter in law whole-heartedly when Swara got married to Sanskaar. Sujata's character, is known to be silly, punky and funny. She started off as a grey shaded character since she wasn't able to bear the injustice that her son, Sanskaar bore. When he returned to avenge his own family, she supported him completely, along with Ragini. She was not at all fond of Swara because of her Bengali background. Hence, she had always opposed Swara's -Sanskaar's relationship, even after knowing the fact that her son loved Swara to death. But with time, Swara with her efforts was able to change her views about her and make a place in her heart. Sanskaar was always more close to his Baadi maa, Annapurna Maheshwari, whom he lovingly calls Maa. Even though Sujata is quite punky at times, she is ever ready to stand and fight for and protect her family.
