Hello I-F Members🤗

As India-Forums is celebrating Deepavali mostly known as Diwali by doing Diwali Dhamaka we want members to share your Diwali memories.
------------
Whats the legend of Diwali?🤔

Diwali, the festival of lights, celebrates the abundance of autumn harvest and is dedicated to various gods and goddesses. The festival also marks an important date in the Indian calendar, as the North Indian kingdom of Avadha has celebrated this as the last day of Lord Rama's long exile of fourteen years. As the citizens of Ayodhya eagerly awaited their beloved prince's return, they lit thousands of lamps to guide his flying vimana to their city. The darkest night of the year gave way to a glorious morning as Rama returned with his wife and brothers to his ancestral kingdom of Avadha.

Diwali also celebrates the gracious nature of the three goddesses, Lakshmi, Kali and Saraswati. Dhanteras (two days before Diwali) is dedicated to Lakshmi, whose blessings are essential for a prosperous, fruitful and peaceful life. Kali-Chudash (the day before Diwali) is dedicated to Maha Kali whose strength we seek to maintain the wealth we have. Strength, physical, mental and spiritual, is essential for all of us to lead a happy life. Diwali itself is dedicated to goddess Saraswati. Knowledge is the ultimate wealth, for it cannot be stolen from you; it is also the ultimate strength, for it often defeats brute force. homes.

------------
A poem:

Diwali

The sweet smell of flowers

The array of colors
Diwali is here
Firecrackers are heard
Candles are lit
Children play
Presents are given
We pray to the gods
Diwali is here.

------------

So come on I-Fians...

Share your memories of the festival of lights! What were your Diwali memories? Out all of the Diwali's you have celebrated so far which was most special?
------------
Have a great Diwali India-Forums members!

Diwali in US is quite boring since most of the States have law which states "No fireworks except 4th of July"😡

But, desi community here takes "special" permission from the gov't and we do firecrackers at the temple at night!

That's about it!

Very Nice post Priya 👏👏

Here Diwali isnt that grand in Singapore. We dont have fireworks or anything. You can only play with sparklers.

Well, we usually have a party on the eve or something.Today we have a diwali party. And on diwali, its visiting the temple, having a nice home cooked south indian meal. And maybe going to someone's house.😳😳

When i was young, we played with sparklers now thats not fascinating anymore! 😳

Yeah, same as ~Pachu*n*Abhi~ for me too !! ... But it's okay .. coz you are not the only one ...

Nothing really exciting except that it's on a weekend and can spend the day with family at home .. Get to wear Indian clothes and put up the lights ... If we are fortunate enough then we can put diyas as well (if it doesn't rain or if it isn't very breezy) ...

I wish we could burn fire crackers ... I know they do allow in some states like Virginia ... but now who's gonna move to VA for Diwali ?? 😕 😆

Looking at the brighter side, we get to talk family back home .. eat good food ... meet up with friends/family ... wear new Indian clothes ... 😃 😃

Happy Diwali to all my I-Fians !
