Durga Puja
Pandals r temporary construction made with cloth, bamboo, paper, glass etc...and can be very attractive with lots of creativity poured in..



Durga Puja celebrated during the 8th day of Navarathri is the most important festival of West Bengal and Eastern part of India.(parts East of Bengal)
This festival is essentially religious in nature. Huge idols of the Goddess Durga posed as killing the demon Mahishasura are worshipped everywhere in West Bengal.

Tamil Nadu / Pondicherry / Karnataka / Kerala / Andhra
Navaratri is celebrated by arranging dolls of Gods and some animals on step display.
10th day is the most important day and is celebrated as Vijaya Dasami and kids are initiated into learning and most kids join schools on this particular day. Books n other educational stuffs...items connected to knowledge are worshipped on this day.
Also Instruments n equipments related to ones profession are also cleaned, fixed, repaired and worshiped on this day.

Navratri is celebrated in Punjab n other North Western states by fasting for seven days. This festival is predominantly linked with harvest.
9 young girls are worshiped as the 9 forms of Goddess Durga. They are offered fruits, puris, channas, Halwa and red chunnis (long scarves).
