Hi friends 😊

We all know Navarathri festival is one of the most popular festival across the Nation. 🥳

But Each State has their own way of celebrating this festival...and some Cities too have built reputations for their unique style. ⭐️



You too can share about how U celebrate in your State / City 😊 🤗



Each of the rituals are mostly carried throughout India...but specific rituals n customs stand out in each region...i hav tried to hi-lite dem...

Eastern India...

West Bengal, Orissa, Chattisgarh n seven sister-states of extreme east...


Durga Puja




Pandals r temporary construction made with cloth, bamboo, paper, glass etc...and can be very attractive with lots of creativity poured in..













Durga Puja
celebrated during the 8th day of Navarathri is the most important festival of West Bengal and Eastern part of India.(parts East of Bengal)


This festival is essentially religious in nature. Huge idols of the Goddess Durga posed as killing the demon Mahishasura are worshipped everywhere in West Bengal.

Southern India
Tamil Nadu / Pondicherry / Karnataka / Kerala / Andhra




Navaratri is celebrated by arranging dolls of Gods and some animals on step display.

10th day is the most important day and is celebrated as Vijaya Dasami and kids are initiated into learning and most kids join schools on this particular day. Books n other educational stuffs...items connected to knowledge are worshipped on this day.

Also Instruments n equipments related to ones profession are also cleaned, fixed, repaired and worshiped on this day.

Karnataka - Royal Celebration

This celebration was started by Vijayanagar Empire in 15th century.

One of the most colourful celebrations in India happen here...Garba and Dandiya Raas take the centrestage of celebration of Navaratri celebrations.

Kashmir -


People observe fast for 9 days. They usually visit the temple of their guardian Goddess Kheer Bhawani, on all 9 days.They also go to the mountain cave of the Vaishno Devi Temple..

Dussera..burning of d evil..


In northern and Central parts of India, the 10th day (day after navaratri) is the most important as is celebrated as Dusshera. The effigy of Ravan is burnt

Kullu valley celebrations in Himachal is especially very famous.

Kanya puja.

Navratri is celebrated in Punjab n other North Western states by fasting for seven days. This festival is predominantly linked with harvest.


9 young girls are worshiped as the 9 forms of Goddess Durga. They are offered fruits, puris, channas, Halwa and red chunnis (long scarves).

here in my country its starting from tomorrow🥳

Basically, we visit goddess Durga's temples for 9 days n then on 10th day we visit our relatives home n they put tika on our forehead n bless us wid their wishes.

Happy Navaratri all 😃

Im living in Germany. On that special day, we will visit temple and mom will do special foods. Approm ah later at house we will celebrate. Nothing big with crackers or sth. We do it normal 😃
