where do stars originate from? What are their possible fates? What factors determine what will happen to a star?

Stars form from concentrations in huge interstellar gas clouds. These contract due to their own gravitational pull.

not sure but...

The collapsed star has two possible fates. If it has mass less than about 3 Suns, it will end up as a neutron star. If it has mass greater than this value, it will become a black hole.
