On a serious note, I wonder if he ever gave any thought to what he'd want in a wife or to find that companionship for himself. Is he thinking about the future of this relationship?

He did, even if subconsciously. In first episode he talks about what is love for him. He was betrayed by a girl, before that too he would have thought of future, even if it was as a teen/young adult. He had thought about who not to date/marry.

He may not have thought about Pallavi as his future, but he has started to accept her for the time being.

P. S. Was it mentioned that Raghav and Amma separated when he was 17?

Yes, I remember that bit in episode one but he was talking about love and emotions. I am actually referring to marriage itself and his expectations from it. I don't think he's ever talked about it by I would love to hear his inner thoughts about the institution of marriage. With all the role reversal on this show, I wouldn't be surprised if our dear ML had some notions about marriage or dreams he wanted to fulfill when he met the right person. Or maybe one day he'll mention that he never had any expectations or wasn't ready to marry so soon, but now that he has, it brings him peace and joy in a way he'd never anticipated. Let's see. I still think at least in the first part of this relationship, he'll be far more invested in the marriage and upholding his end of it. He takes his responsibilities seriously in general, and now that Pallavi is in his inner circle and has her name tied to his, there's no way he'll slack. I'm glad he's clear about that. Also, I disagree with Pallavi when she says he doesn't know how to maintain relationships. He's not perfect but I think he does a lot of things very well. The best part about him is his straightforward communication style. No beating around the bush or mincing words. It's a good trait to have if you want to ensure you are in sync with your life partner.

He said he'd been away from his family for 10 years, he clarified to Pallavi that he's 27 so we did the math! 😆

No I mean before marrying her, did he ever think about this? He wasn't prepared to get married at this stage, he wasn't planning on settling down, but now that he has, he's been asked by Amma to be a good husband. Had he ever thought in the past about what he'd want to do in order to become a good husband, how to build his relationship with his wife, etc.?

As for the car conversation, I don't think he's thought so far as I'm her husband in the true sense and I have to fulfill my responsibilities towards her. That will happen at some point but he's not there yet. For now what's important is that he knows she is his responsibility, especially after seeing the damaged he caused in her life. He also realizes after witnessing the craziness of the Deshmukhs that she has no real place to call home right now. He can't let her suffer and it's not because he pities her.

He went from trying to make amends for his actions to wanting to do something to make her happy. Otherwise, he could have just stayed out of her dynamics with D-fam and not made any comments about their unworthiness of her love and care. One thing though, when he married her and told her it was a deal, he knew this marriage wasn't meant to be a temporary thing. He was in it for the long haul, regardless of how things turned out. He respects the institution of marriage, clearly, and he will not take it lightly, even if Amma doesn't ask him to work on mending things between Pallavi and him.
