Exactly. And if you don't love/feel for someone, then why will you tie any expectation with that person. Like so much agonizing it was for him that he descended upon Pallavi and her life to destroy everything. Cause it seems like in his mind - "Pallavi ne mujhko dhokha diya".
I think it's this bit that bothered him the most, the fact that once again a woman he cared for betrayed him and hurt his family, like all those years go. Or so he thinks. That's what added that extra malice in his approach and why he wanted to malign her in front of her family instead of using another tactic to take revenge. He wanted to destroy her being because her very existence creates all this turmoil in his heart and mind. I also feel as if he knows deep down that she strongly challenges his conception of women being untrustworthy and deceptive. He's always been uneasy that he hadn't been able to find anything in her that would indicate she was the same. This Keerti incident and its aftermath gives him just the right excuse to bundle her in with all the other women he loves to hate, to delegate her as 'not special', and to stop feeling weak because he cares for her in spite of it all.
Not sure if this made sense. 😆
