Hi everyone!
I’m new to the Meet forum – just started watching the show 2 weeks back, but completely caught up and obsessed! I was looking for FFs or OS to read but there weren’t too many and then this idea popped into my head. It’s a reflective piece from Meet A’s perspective, and my very first attempt at writing for Meet.
I would appreciate any and all feedback and comments! 😊
Cheers,
Nupur

“Mere trip par mere pati ka past uske paas mandra raha hai, aur tujhe lagta hai yeh mere liye aasaan hai?”
Meet couldn’t get Hathodi’s words out of his head. Had he really fallen so far down the rabbit hole that he hadn’t been able to see how difficult this situation was for her? As he watched her study out loud, reciting concepts of accounting trying to memorise everything, he tucked the blanket just under his eyes so as not to draw attention to the fact that he had woken up.
He watched her twirl a pencil between her fingers as she spoke out loud, just loud enough that she could hear herself but not so loud that she would disturb him. ‘She’s always thinking of other people… she’s always thinking of me’, he thought. He knew that he had f***ed up. His emotional turmoil was valid, but it did not take away from the fact that his wife was carrying their relationship by herself; she had been for a while. And what had he done? He had left her to her own devices. He had left her after assuring her that he wanted to move ahead in his life. After all the hell they had gone through, he had regressed when he should have come through for her. Seeing Manushi had been difficult, but how could it have blinded him so much?
Every time he thought about what she had done for him the night he had been intoxicated left him with a deep sense of shame and regret. He watched her study and reflected on the multiple ways he had f***ed up. “Maine toh soch liya ki main iss shaadi ko ek mauka dena chahta hoon, lekin itna easy nahi hai jitna lag raha tha. Mujhe Meet se baat karni hogi ki uske mann mein kya chal raha hai?” he thought. He realised that he had not even bothered to ask her what she was feeling and if she was okay. He had, like everyone else in her life, assumed that she didn’t need any help and had instead poured his heart out to her. He had just assumed that she wouldn’t leave him to deal with his emotions by himself, or maybe it was because he trusted her so damn much.
He knew that she trusted him as well, but in his head, he knew that he hadn’t given her too many reasons to hold onto that trust. He knew that in the past few days he had not given her any reason to lean on him and share her feelings with him, and the thought of his gundi fending for herself hurt him deeply. He felt a wave of regret wash over him at his actions over the past few days.
“No. This ends now. Meet ne meri wajah se bohot seh liya. Ab bas. Till today, I have only ever taken from her, but that ends now. From today, I will start giving her the respect, the trust she deserves. I will show her that I can be there for her emotionally… that I can be her safe space”, he thought to himself as he saw the sun rise from the open window of their room.
He smiled to himself as he watched her completely engrossed in her textbooks. It was a brand new day and a brand new start.
