It is said that God is never born. It is there in you and me. It's your Karma and energy, which is worshipped, and people hail you as God or as an incarnation of God. But is that possible in Kalyug wherein the seven deadly sins lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride have made humans to look for short cuts to power, wealth and success following non-moralistic ways?
Set in the present age, Mata Ki Chowki is the story of Vaishnavi, an orphan who is found by a Pandit couple of Vaishno Devi shrine. Shraddha thinks of her as blessing of mata and insists adamantly on adopting her as they don't have child of their own in the nine years of their marriage. In spite of not wanting Vaishnavi, Pandit Vidyasagar gives in to his wife's wishes and adopts her. However, he considers Vaishnavi as non-existent to him. Two years later Shraddha conceives but a tragic mishap occurs during her last month of pregnancy and she dies giving birth to a daughter named Sunakshi. Pandit Vidyasagar holds Vaishnavi responsible for the ills happening to his family. Thus, the lacuna in their relation keeps on expanding with time.
Sheel Kumar, a business tycoon from Mumbai but originally from Katra comes with a marriage proposal for his son Vansh with Sunakshi. However, Sunaskhi runs away at time of marriage and to save her father's pride, Vaishnavi makes a great sacrifice and gets married to Vansh. After coming to Mumbai she experiences the rough behavior and ill response towards her from her husband & all her in-laws except his grandmother.
Throughout this time of great hardhip, Vaishnavi continues to preach to people about mata rani with jagrans, bhajans and bhandaras through a chowki with immense spirituality and faith. Sheel Kumar however uses her innocence, karmic powers and knowledge to commercialise religion. Her faith in Mata sees her sail through every possible hurdle that life throws at her while at the same time her good deeds towards enlightening the masses raises her divine personality amongst them. The journey of Vaishnavi in the enlightened path of Mata will go on forever and ever, even though she has to take another birth.
Mata ki Chowki is one such story, which can compel one to believe in the power of spirituality and morality. It is said, all bad things look for a good end. Mata Ki Chowki finds one.
Mata ki Chowki will take you on a journey that will reveal many true faces of our modern society. A society that doesn't fear God, and atrocities and unfairness are in abundance. But then there are people like Vaishnavi, a great devotee of Mata Vaishno Devi, is out there in our society to make a difference.
Mata ki Chowki is a story of a girl called Vaishnavi, an adopted child of Pandit Vidyasagar and his wife Shraddha. After two years, her mother, Shraddha, dies giving birth to her own child Sunakshi.
From the early age of six, Vaishnavi develops immense interest and faith in "Ma Vaishno Devi". She starts showing signs of being a super-normal child. She preaches about Mata, sings Jagrata, motivates people to follow Mata and rescues people from pain and misery.
The story takes a twist when her sister, Sunakshi runs away with her lover at the time of her marriage with Vansh. And this ends up Vaishnavi marrying Vansh and throwing herself into an unfamiliar world. Here, Vaishnavi meets Sheel Kumar (father-in-law), the evil force who takes advantage of her devotion towards Mata Viashno Devi and her ability to motivate people through her preaching.
Vaishnavi sees herself in a world wherein the seven deadly sins lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride have cluttered humans to look for short cuts to power, wealth and success following non-moralistic ways. As a great devotee of Mata Vaishno Devi, would Vaishnavi be able to help people to show the right path in this 'nowhere' going era of Kalyug? Or will she be just a puppet in the hands of evils of the modern society?
