In the end Devyani was doing what she enjoyed the most, being there for her family and being in charge. Its what she always wanted and now with the rest of the family all out of the house during the day with their own careers she will keep the home fires burning and make sure everyhting is perfect.

i guess they wanted to show like vidya said ' a woman's life is not only about marriage or something like that..'
Vidya is still in love with gaurav (she still remembers him as her husband).
Devyani doesn't love shubhankar so why would she marry him? I love their friendship, it would be nicer if dev fell in love with shubhankar, but i guess it would be a bit too unrealistic coming from a character like devyani.

I guess we must satisfy ourselves with vidya growing independent, seeing the old happy chirpy uttara, a devyani's face without worry and sorrow and smile whole heartedly!

Dev's feelings, if any, were nipped in the bud by the harsh accusations of MJ. And Dev has too much self respect to enter into a house where the MIL will hate her like anything.
