I thought it was out of character for her. But I wasn't too sure since I hadn't been watching from the beginning.

I think the reason RD wants Gaurav away from Karan is because while she herself went and gave him the blessing while he was still married, by now she somewhat knows that it's never going to be smooth as long as he's married.

I know, I know, she's too hell bent on revenge to have thought that. But she was pissed to hear about the marriage anniversary. It could just be that Gaurav was seemingly happy while her son was in that state. But I thought there was something more to it as well.

I liked her best when she was standing up against SSP and was hell-bent on exposing him and when she was supportive of her son. I was hopeful for her character after she accepted her gay son and thought she could become even a stronger character.

I guess it makes sense why they keep showing Karan in such bad state, this is to fuel and reinforce RD's anger toward Gaurav and his family to the extent that she would destroy a whole village. It's not entirely out of her character. A while back, if I remember correctly, for political reasons, didn't she (along with SSP) had an eloped couple killed, which resulted in a confrontation between Adi and SSP? She is definitely capable of this then.
