I agree, Ritz. It's easy to accept others. But I don't think it would be easy to accept one's own kids as gay. For some yes. But even the most open minded people sometimes would have to struggle to come to terms. It's only natural.

You are just asking for another big showdown. 😆

Though I'm curious about what exactly it is that you edited. 😆

o really.. cuz i know someone who thought gay meant "namard"--impotent and some people believe gays are "kusra;s"-- eunuchs... so thats what i mean.. now i know being "na mard" or a "kusra" has nothing to do with being gay.. so does the word samakami or whatever the malaysian/korean term actually mean gay or is it a mis conception..like in urdu/punjabi (cant remember which language the words "na mard" and "kusra" comes from)

I dont know completely but Kamasutra has stuff about homosexual relationships as well.
dunno the term for it though. So it did exist 1000s of years ago too.
Also Khajuraho has quiet explicit sculpture.😕

I think that's all because of the lack of information, misinformation about homosexuality. Like Rits said, homosexuality is very much found in in pre-victorian Indian works of art and literature. (Also in other parts of Asia as well.) But Indian became more Victorian than the British themselves, Though it might go back even further with the Mughals. But even then, it shouldn't have extended past Hindustan. So I think British colonialism had a lot to do with it as well.

By they way, I said Malayalam, which is an Indian language, and guessed that there probably is a sanskrit based word in Hindi as well.

The stuff about Taiwan and Korea was just to point out that "gay" is usually very much understood and easier to use in many areas affected by globalization.

I didn't say anything about Malaysian. 😆

I forgot to add, there are what could be interpreted as support for homosexuality or at least the idea of "third gender" in religious texts as well. But again, it all became unthinkable to even talk about or mention. No...nothing is about sex. 😆 It's all innocent. Completely innocent which people are twisting around.

No 'samakami' is pretty much a direct translation of 'homosexual'. Sama (same) + kami (comes from 'kama' as in sex) = same-sex attraction (homosexuality).
