The Gay Track (10th June - 29th September 2011?)

Is this the end of the gay track? Karan drives off, leaving his deeply, deeply repentant and devastated mother, while Gaurav joins in the dancing back home! As the gay track on "Maryada" ends here are my thoughts: Karan emerges as the bigger guy. He loses everything. Vidya guilt-trips Gaurav into taking care of her the rest of her secretly-selfish, but overtly-unhappy and self-effacing life. Gaurav gets to feel noble: "Look, I sacrificed my love too!" But all said and done, let us give the "Maryada" team a standing ovation for what they have accomplished. I hope they would at some point release the series as a DVD-set. This is one historic soap opera and everybody should watch it in the years to come.

I really hope this isn't the end. It was heart breaking to see Gaurav and Karan breakup. Their love for each other was obvious and if this is truly the end, vidya in her sacrifice has ruined 3 lives forever

Though perhaps it is fitting that they don't find their way to each other in their lifetime given how sadly oppressive our society is.

Yet I hope that this is not the end and there lies for them a happy ending somewhere
And I hope that it is the mothers who finally see the light that their sons are as normal as anyone else and all they wished for was true love. Like anyone else

Hello 😊

I'm really happy to finally see some people supporting Karan/Gaurav story.

I do hope as well that their story is not over yet and that it will have a happy ending but i doubt it.
Regarding all the people hoping for happy ending for Gaurav and Vidya, i m afraid they will go on the way of the audience... i think this is probably the end of Karan in the show 😭

I know this is already so big step for indian't media to portray and defend homosexuality this way (Dostana was such a shame).
The best episode was the 14th september's episode with the shrink explaining Karan's mother that you don't choose your sexuality and so their no possibilities to fight it, to just accept her son

But still i m so upset they made Karan Leave, so disappointing...
I guess this show was giving hope and support to all the gay in India feeling so lonely and guilty in their secret life, but with this ending they are telling that to live happily is to get married... or else happiness is not possible (as karan is the only looser, he has lost everything, whereas Gaurav at least still has the happiness of living with his family)

I hope other shows will keep braving common thinking and audience to fight for minorities to be accepted and be abble to leave happy lifes, showing little by little possibilities of happy ending for everybody !

I wanted the gay track to have a much better ending. So that audiences can really understand and know what and how homosexual men are and live their life.

But anyway, all's well that ends well.

The makers of Maryada need to be applauded for the sensitively and beautifully portrayal of Gaurav-Karan relationship. I really feel this was one of the most beautiful romantic tracks whether homosexual or heterosexual.

The beautiful symbiotic relationship between the two, their understanding, ... no words can't express how lovely that relationship was. It made me believe in love once again ... the way no other relationship on screen has ever done. Now that was true love.

The only other highlight of this relationship was the confusion and futile attempts of Roshni Devi to come to terms with the truth. There was an innate honesty and realism in her endeavor. One could empathize with her.

The true disappointment were Vidya and Devyani. They moved from unsympathetic to supportive to connivers too fast. All of Devyani's bhashan to Roshni Devi was so hypocritical - I mean if she was really this understanding why did she ruin Vidya's life in the first place? And Vidya for an innocent, village belle to an active abettor - whoa that was too quick a transition.

As a romantic I would want Gaurav and Karan to be together. As a realist I know it is not possible - not in present day Haryana at least. Yet a big round of applause to the CVs and makers of this show. They deserve it despite the fact they are responsible for all the other cliched cartoons in the show - starting with Devyani. All sins forgiven for dealing honestly and sensitively with this one issue without resorting to mockery, cliches and pedantry.

Gaurav and Karan have to be together. I want to be optimistic and think that they will have their happy end. The writters have been really great until now, and I trust them, they will finish this beautiful love story with a nice end for all.

I just have to say, the Karan-Gaurav relationship and portrayal surpasses a lot of the attempts at gay relationships I've seen on American soaps.

I don't know why that episode is not up on the Starplus website yet--they put up 251 and skipped to 253, which isn't put up in its entirety--but I think that parting hug says so much and is one of the most striking scenes I've ever seen.

Kudos to everyone responsible in bringing this track to the screen.

Watching Gaura and Karan breaking up was truly heart breaking, it brought me to tears. Their love was truthful, so honest, so honest. Karan is being a big guy by saying that this relationship should end. He was tired of fighting and explaining his relationship. I truly and sincerely hope that is not the end of Karan/Gaurav story. If so, I dont think I will be watching the show. I understand it was groundbreaking but ending the story like that is very unfair
Gaurav and Karan when they were looking into each other's eyes, u could tell that they were madly in love with each other and in lot of pain. I could see the pain in their eyes and thats why it made me cry. I really hope this is not the end as it will be very sad. Being a gay man myself, I am counting that Karan will be back and things will get better. Also thats what would make sense. Karan leaving like that leaves the gay storyline stranded and unfair.
I truly hate Vidya as her sacrifice costed true love to end. Her sacrifice is not bringing happiness to anyone. She ruined 2 other lives including hers. I m hoping this is not the end for Gaurav and Karan.. i can only hope!! I m sure Karan will be back.. they deserve that love!! Hate u Vidya 😡 and love u Gaurav and Karan. U both make me feel the love in ur eyes for each other!!❤️❤️
