What is so bold about Maryada?

Since the articles and promo's have been harping about Maryada being 'A Bold Family Drama', I was wondering what exactly are they going to show in the serial that Indian Television hasn't seen before? šŸ˜†

Prime-time shows have dealt with everything from rape, incest, adultery, debauchery, one-night stands, extra-marital affairs, illegitimacy and every possible immorality on Earth, in the name of 'Family Shows'! (I am not taking names here, but people who watch television regularly would know what I am talking about! Hint : A certain Ms. Kapoor! šŸ˜†)
What can Maryada show to justify its 'Bold' tag?
Gaurav as Gay?
The SSP as Priya's rapist (since he will eventually become her Father-in-law as well)
Senior Jhakar and Uttara's affair?
Vidya falling in love with someone else eventually?
Aditya's involvement in Priya's past (That might be a twist)
Even if Maryada shows all the above and much more, can it still justify the tag of being 'Bold'? Name one Desi Drama on telly that hasn't dealt with much more shocking topics, albeit far less seriously!!!
Please share your views on what can be possibly 'bold' about Maryada?

I think what is bold about Maryada are the women characters in the show they seem based more on real life women .Till now all the women characters in serials are either Dukhiyari atmas who seem to cry buckets for no reason or they come in the I am so superior to men/I hate men category who then need to be "Tamed" by the macho herošŸ˜†Maryada is kind of refreshing and bold in that sense.

Nice topic Poppy!

I honestly cannot speculate at this point as to WHY this show is supposed to be bold, but I don't think we've gotten into the "bold" aspect of the show yet. Like you said, we've been shown almost every known immorality on PT television in the name of "family dramas" so I cannot even begin to imagine what else they could possibly show. But I'm going to wait and watch nonetheless..šŸ˜†

Compared to what is being shown currently on Tv, i don't think any plausible story line can be termed bold ......

One show that comes to mind is NAIDL, which has moved beyond bold to just plain crass and vulgar and derogatory to women .......... No matter how active your imagination, the show always manages to surpass your expectations with its depravity

I think Starplus is sort of playing safe ..... There prime time shows are all shakkar-jaise-meethe types .... bidaaii, YRKKH, Sathiya etc etc ..... its oly after 10.30 that they move onto something else starting with pratigya ..... i guess it got the 11.30 slot because there is actually no other time slot available ....

@Bips, I don't watch Pratigya regularly, but whatever little I have seen of it, had some truly cringe worthy moments! The dialouges could make a fisherwoman blush! 😲 What is NAIDL?
@Fivr and Sam, I think the 'bold' part of Maryada is the 'seriousness' with which they are planning to deal with topics like Rape, sexual abuse, Homosexuality, marital violence ect! As I mentioned before, loads of shows have showcased all this before (what could be more shocking than the sati savitri heroine of a prime-time show falling in love with one, marrying another and getting impregnated by the third, without ever falling from grace? šŸ˜•) but they have done all that in a very exaggerated, filmy way, more to raise the TRP's than to address any possible social evils!
Hopefully, Maryada will answer these apparently unspoken issues in a mature, sensible and sensitive manner!
PS : Just for information, DJ's first show, Banegi Apni Baat showed the issue of a young girl dealing with the aftermath of physical abuse / a woman giving birth to a child outside of wedlock and raising it all alone / an extra-marital affair sans any guilt and much more! And all this more than 15 years ago on television!

hmmmm good question i was watching all the episodes, and from other serials i see that this show concentrates alot on the four main leads, its just not one center character and i like that

Oh! Also...I do wish the creatives won't show us more of Jaggi and Imli Romance! šŸ˜† Not nice at all! That is certainly not the 'Bold' I wish to see in the serial! I totally gagged on their bedroom scene...it was both hilarious and embarassing! šŸ˜†

@Bold-🤣So true.I really hope they deal with all these issues seriously ,cause even pratigya started with promises of dealing with eve teasing and then the lead heroine ends up getting married to her stalker🤢I guess we can just wait and watch where this show goes.
@Blue-Thanks for refreshing my memory about BAB ,i was just a 10 yr old kid then so dont remember much about the show.😊

poppy, NAIDL is Na aana is des Laado on Colors Tv ......

Very true - pratigya has truly cringe worthy moments ..... I started watching pratigya because initially the rustic way of talking was hilariously entertaining but the show in itself is just so blah! that i just can't stomach it anymore .... the guy is a chauvinistic ass is the guise of a lover boy ...... pass ...

I loved BAB ..... Looking back, i think television was actually more progressive 15 years back than it is now ... The shows were truly entertaining ... there was no set formula .... no one harped like a broken record about sanskaars .... and the women did a lot of other things besides decking up and getting married ..... Not all of them had a social issue attached, but reflected the aspiring middle class .... i miss those days...
