Although not prevalent in major cities, we do live in a patriarchal society where many things are mindlessly imposed on women. Asa lived with a 'men' doing the same for many years until Shubhra came in the picture. Asa has to change her own mindset before the 'men' change theirs.

Also the treatment is coming from aajoba who belongs to the 1960-70 generation, so honestly it's not surprising. My grandmother chooses to wear lighter colours because that is what she was conditioned to do. Somya on the other hand is the real kuchka here. Aaplya generation cha asun dekhil his remarks were very outdated. But then again, he is conditioned under aajoba to that could be his excuse of kuchkegiri.

Exactly! But this has been nicely captured in the serial where she is being pulled from both sides. When she is with AR she realises she is happy and when she is back home, Ajoba's views prevail over her. Once she finally makes up her mind that she wants to be with AR then all hell can break loose. Will the CV's manage to keep this from becoming a high pitched drama will be interesting to see.

Also, someone pointed out earlier that aajoba was wearing bright kurta. Men were always allowed to restart their lives (get married and have kids) after their wife's death. Women, however, were expected to live a widows life for the rest of their life.

Reformation needs to be done from within, and I'm hopeful that serials like these will help in changing mindsets of atleast a few, if not all, And question their stand of such regressive paramparas.

Other serials are doing no good in reforming, rather promoting infidelity.

@Bold - My point exactly. Women have to stop thinking that its wrong to do certain things just because that is what they were conditioned to do so. I'm no scholar in Hindu scriptures but to my knowledge there is nothing mentioned about how a widow should lead her life after husband's death.

Aajoba could have expressed his displeasure simply by taunting Asa, his giving away Asa's sarees was really annoying... What's more annoying is he humiliated Asa because of Pradnya's comments 😡.. ! If Asa is a widow, Aajoba is a widower so same rule is applicable to him.

I was expecting Shubhra not to allow Aajoba & Somya to enjoy the gifts by AR if Asa is not allowed to enjoy any gift.. Also, how Faral by Asa is acceptable but her enjoying the festival is not?

CVs should avoid such scenes and dialogues...

Yes, they treat her just the way they want. Faral is acceptable, roz cha Prasad is acceptable, but tine changli saadi nesna is not acceptable, tine nehmi peksha jast vel baher rahna is not acceptable. Aajoba (All Kulkarni men actually) treats Asavari as their katputli.

It was expected that Kulkarni menfolk would be shown despicable at the start of the serial to show the contrast after they have been "sudhraod" by either Shubhra or AR. What we hope is this process of showing Kulkarni men as backward thinking should not be stretched and spoil the serial.

First of all, i would like to say that GO and NJ-S both act SO SO well. More is said through their expressions than dialogue. They also have such great chemistry. I really like that the serial writers havent made things tacky and cheap between them...no unnecessary touching, no unnecessarily stretched out ruswe-fugwe, no OTT dialogue-baji. Hope they keep it up.

Having said that, i think somewhere in the future something is going to trigger aajoba to realize just how lonely asawari is. It could be with the introduction of a new character (pradnya's husband?), Somya's (😡) bad behavior or something else....
