Before the show aired, "Mahi Way", I wasn't all that excited; however, after the pilot episode I am hooked. Accustomed to the general daily soaps, month long dilemmas, tragic hero/heroine, saas-bahu saagas, this show is something different. The story line is realistic, and many of us can perhaps relate to these situations: the sibling rivalries, child-parent relations issues, crude bosses and annoying co-workers. I even find the slight contemporary implements to be refreshing, the deviation from traditional clothing, the office setting, and "Thursday" nights. This show can bring together avid viewers from across the globe. Sitting here in New York, I sometimes forget that "Mahi Way" is set in India.
I also find the humor and punch lines to be really canny. They are all inserted at the right moments, carrying a flow throughout the show. It is really nice to come across a balanced show, which not only excels in character development, but also ties in practical issues.
I felt as though I had to share this, for I am extremely happy to view this remarkable transition of daily soaps into something different, new, a progressive example of the "art" of a good concept, slowly executed with degrees of development-- whether it be Mahi's continuous search for a boyfriend, or Roshni's improvement on remembering names.
