Arshiji thanks for such a post. The replies from everyone makes me realise that we are not alone here thinking about the complexity of MK and its main lead Rudra. Indeed Rudra is a new type of character which has not been seen on indian soaps, so it is difficult to understand him. I believe some of us has seen GR as Saras and the stark change in character to Rudra was difficult to digest. However by now for those who have been following the serial, we can construe our own image of him and give different reasons for his behaviour.
In western soaps we have seen such characters such as Arrow and others but the difference is that western actors anger is more introvert whilst GR shows it through extrovert behaviours.
In order for the general audience to grasp and accept this Rudra, it is important for GR and Babbal to come out and explain some of it, as we do understand the need for mystery but not everyone has the patience or the inclination to scratch their head and understand, some viewers just want plain entertainment. Definitely MK is different as it has so many layers, but to complicate matters with too much mystery may make people interest wane.

It is very clear Gautam is doing what he has been asked to do by the director . He has been asked to act like an animal , a raging bull when he is angry and he is exactly doing that . In one of ivs Gautam even said bcoz of this, the character is tough for him as it is so unlike him . But all said and done , this is also true that a section of audience is finding it difficult to accept this unrealistic rage . All the more bcoz , there is a disconnect with the young rudra .Personally , for me it would hv been perfect if Rudra had the power of Bheem , cunning of Chanakya and softness and and sensitivity of saras .But really , the director and writer cannot go by the whims and fancies of the audience . They have envisioned a character , keeping the whole story in mind . We have already seen a different facet of Rudra in the house segment which was portrayed brilliantly by Gautam .So hoping as the story unfolds , a multilayred Rudra who attacks his enemies by his power as well as brain will come forth
PS - Here i would just like to add the opinion of a non internet type , the common tv audience , the sorts who just c a serial , enjoy if for half an hour and dont analyse or think about it , that is my mom . Her words " OMG , vo jo tumhara favourite actor hai , he has completely transformed himself . He is so different from Saras and he is so powerful " . Gautam has really succeeded to bring to life a tough character like Rudra

yes, this Rudra defies a lot of definitions that we have grown up with, and i am sure even Gautam must've had to struggle with coming to terms with Rudra as he is!

I guess in the early days, when the whole picture has not been revealed to the viewers, we may question the characters, but in the end its about acceptance, of the character and also about trusting the story teller! after all its their story to tell, and they must have the liberty to tell it their way!!

When we commit ourselves to a story, we place our trust in the maker and so have to be prepared to tread an unknown path and undertake an unknown journey, which may or may not turn out as we want it to.

Sometimes the whole thing may not make as much sense, but i guess it will come together sooner or later and then we will see the whole picture, till then we just have to hang in there!!

Instead of individual replies, I thought I will share my views separately, for what are my views really?

They are just answered shaped by the opinions of all of you!!

Ranou, you have said so well what i feel. that its Babbal's story and not ours, so he must conceive Rudra his way, and not to appease his viewers.

We are following a story, by choice but as viewers we must not interfere with it, nor make any demands to the makers to twist it to suit our sensibilities!!

Just like when we form a relationship in real life, we have to accept the people in our lives for what they are and accept the rough with the smooth, so must it be with the stories we choose. the story must live and grow independent of us, and we must respect the right of the creator to tell his story in his way

Babbal has chosen to create a hero who is not following the accepted formula, and this is the Rudra as he has conceptualised. he also has chosen to let Rudra reveal himself to us, through the story and not through interviews and off screen talks.

i think that's ok too, for this makes us actually question ourselves and makes us wonder, which is not a bad way to be engaged with a story!!

Excellent thread and all the views!
It was a bit disturbing in the beginning of current Rudra's appearance, because of child Rudra's character. I couldn't connect both Rudra.
But I realized there was a leap of 12 more years, and his rage increased to a level and gave us this untamed Rudra.
And I'm in an accepting mode right now, but still I'll love to see him more introvert and self controlled with full of anger.

Hello All.. Nice thread.
To be honest this is the first show I am looking at with Gautum So I have no Idea what his acting style was before.
I will agree with the poster b4 me Neel... The difficulty was connecting teenage Rudra with Adult Rudra.
Some how Teenager Rudra led us to think that the grown up version would be that brooding watchful person, with a killer stare. Who stays calm until Pushed.
However He came on the scene like a burst of flames taking down everything insight. It was hard to swallow.
At the same time it was understandable, seeing that the person in trouble at that point was Maaye Mui! Still his aggressiveness seemed off. after that.
I am not sure if they are taking note of what we are saying here, as the scene yesterday with Maaye telling him to learn to control the anger and laugh at the world seemed to go with what we all were thinkng.
No no ..I am not saying I want Rudra to trun into a sweet and loving person over night, that just won't go with his character. But Yesterdays's Rudra was the one I had in mind b4 I Gautum came on the scene.
One that observes, thinks steps back...and uses his brains before flying of the handle to commit murder every time he gets angry!! ( it is only by luck he has not killed any one yet!)
In my humble opinion Yesterday's episode was one of the best so far in terms of his acting.

I liked today's episode. Finally it seemed we got Rudra who doesn't jump off to kill but THINKS!
He is starting to use his brain more than his hands!

You are right bang on comment, the disconnect was from young to older Rudra cos older one seemed to much in rage. He could have killed anybody anytime and almost did!

BTW NOBODY in MK seems to think it is a big deal to murder! People are killed easily, there is never any police inquiry, post-mortem, arrests anything! What about entire family of Khoye paye Pande killed in their home?! Does anybody care or bother?!!!

Great posts Vinnie and Maddy, and this rudra who is using his brain and not just brawn is indeed better to see and easier to relate to. It is indeed a gory serial in terms of the violence it depicts, but then it does establish Balivesh and co. To be absolutely ruthless. And those who are seeking immortality for themselves have no respect for others lives.

as for does anybody care, I agree, it would have been nice if we could also have the cops trying to solve these gruesome murders!

First and foremost by my understanding the moment I heard the name Rudra I knew what the character would be like. Aggressive and hot tempered because as per mythology Rudra is the destructive form of Lord Shiva. Raw anger all over, anger to the level he opens the third eye and burned the God of Love. So for me it was clear Rudra will be that. No soft emotions can go near him. But we also needs to know that Rudra is worshipped because he is another form of Lord Shiva or Neelakanth who drank the poison to save the world. Softer emotions exists in him, but to bring them forth it is a hard task. Road that needs to be travelled with Rudra to tame his raw anger to direct it at the right people and places is a hard task in itself which can be done only with lot of patience.
Rudra cannot be won over by candyfloss romance as Maya believes. Road to him is a penance which if she wants, she will have to undertake.
