I read somewhere that Parvati cursed the other goddesses that they wouldn't have children...I don't know if it is because of Ganesh or Kartikeya...some sites say it was bcoz Kartikeya when born was kept away from her and some say it happened when Lord Ganesh was beheaded by Lord Shiva
