Padma Puran has reference of Ashok Sundari. She was born when Parvati came across a wish giving tree,Kalpa Vriksh and requested for a daughter. The girl was beautiful and she freed her mother from lonliness so she was named Ashok Sundari. More than that we won't get any significance of her role in other places. She was also told in Vrat Kathas of Gujarat.can i know abt ashok sundri...

Devi Kavacham.. Nava Durgas.
The nava Durga Stotram is very powerful .It is recited during nava ratris.
The description of the nine forms of Durga was sung by the Great Soul Brahma-deva Himself. Durg is known by these names:
"First is the Goddess of Inspiration, and second the Goddess of Sacred Study; third is the Goddess of the Delight of Practice, the Goddess of Purifying Austerity is fourth."
"Fifth is the Goddess who Nurtures Divinity, sixth is the One Who is Ever Pure; seventh is the Goddess of the Dark Night of Overcoming Egotism, the Goddess of the Great Radiant Light is eighth."
"Ninth is the Goddess who Grants Perfection, the nine Durgas, Relievers of Difficulties, have been enumerated, and these names have been revealed by the great soul of the Supreme Brahma himself."
Lord Brahma said: I have with extreme happiness sung the fame of the nine mothers, Sailaputri (Daughter of the Himlayas), Brahmacharinii (One who observes the state of celibacy doing study and penance), Chandraghanta (One who bears the crescent moon in her necklace), Kushmanda (the mother of the universe), Skanda-Mata The mother of Skanda, Kartikeya ), Katyayini (The daughter of sage Katyayana), Kalaratri (black as night, destroyer of Kal ), Mahgauri(the wife of Lord Shiva, doing great penance) and Siddhidatri (Provider of Siddhis, giver of mystic powers).
He who remembers these nine mothers will not suffer even if he is burnt in fire, even if he has gone to war, even if he is very sad, even if he is terribly afraid of war. Anyone who remembers those names with devotion is also are free of these fears and sorrows.
Lakshmi
These are the nine forms of Durga as told in Devi Kavacham from Devi mahatmyam. Brahma praises thus.
If you observe the first form is Saila Putri. Parvati is first Saila Putri. The daughter of the mountain .Parvati takes birth as Himavan's daughter.
Second form is Brahma charini. Parvati observes celibacy when she did penance to please Shiva.
Third is Chandra ghanta who bears the moon in her forehead .This happens after she becomes the consort of Siva. By then she completed her penance and attained the full yogic power that made her hold the super power that is Prakriti in reality.
nava durgas indicate the journey of Parvati begining with being the daughter of mountain king.then a celibate then the spouse ... Now the forth one.
Kushmanda
When this universe was non-existent and darkness prevailed everywhere, it was Maa Kushmaandaa who produced the Cosmic Egg with her mere smile. So Maa Kushmanda is also known as the creator of the whole universe.
Maa Kushmanda is also named as "Adi Shakti. She is the only one who has the power and strength to live in the core of Suryaloka. Her body shines like the glowing Sun Parvati as Kushmanda has the power and capability to live inside the Sun. The glow and radiance of her body is as luminous as that of the Sun.
Mother Kushmaandaa is the bestower of all pleasures. Her adoration and worship delivers a person from all kinds of ailments and leads the person on to the path of prosperity and pleasures. .
By this phase Mata Parvati is aware of her all round powers as Adisakti and thus this form explains how as Adi Sakti she became the source of creation.
Hence Parvati here identifies with her source energy and called Kushmanda.

To be continued
This story appears in Ramayana , Balakanda Sarga 36 as being narrated by Sage Viswamitra to the princes of Ayodhya - Rama and Lakshmana.
Shiva had just married Parvati Devi, the daughter of the mountain in a grand ceremony. Soon, they both together head towards a beautiful place.
The place, was just perfect and Shiv and Parvati could feel the intensity of their love. They soon started making love to each other passionately.
In the warmth of each other's embrace, they completely lost track of time and a hundred divine years have passed by since they went to the resort.
Back outside, this has gotten the gods really concerned. There was no sight of Shiva and Parvati anywhere and no progeny has resulted from this extended act of love making as yet.Ofcourse they are waiting for Shiv Putr.
But They began worrying that if someone were to be ultimately born from Shiva's "life-force after this kind of prolonged procreation between such potent deities, he is going to bestowed with extraordinary powers. The gods fear that he shall be invincible and uncontrollable.
So, the devas headed by Brahma go to Shiva and try to reason with him to stop the lovemaking. They pray to Shiva, "Oh Mahadeva. You are good to all the beings. We request you. The three worlds cannot possibly bear the brilliant energy of something born out of you and Uma (Parvati)'s dalliance. It'll be too overwhelming. Please withhold your radiance within yourself and return to Kailasa.
Gods forgot for timebeing that they have to kill Tarakasur and get back heaven. But now they are more worried about the extraordinarily powerful one born out of the life powers of Shiv Shakti.
Having listened intently to these pleas, Shiva said. "So be it. For the welfare of you and all the people of the worlds, I shall keep my virility within me. Worry no more. But there is a slight problem. My energy has been released from it's nascent resting point. I am going to release now. I can't make it go back anymore. Is there a place that can hold my refulgent seed ? tell me what can I do..
The devas suggest that the energy that has moved from its resting point can be held by the Earth.
Shiva says, "Alright then and he spills his semen on planet earth, rocking all the mountains, seas, forests and covering them all over. Soon, the earth was no longer able to handle this anymore.
Then, the devas turned to Agni (God of Fire) and Vayu (God of Wind), "Agni, you have the power to consume anything that you touch. Take the assistance of Vayu (God of Wind) and please absorb this great energy of the Rudra and give earth and earthlings some respite.
When the god of Agni accepted that Energy,he became scorched with its heat and requested Ganga to hold it in her womb. Ganga also could not bear Siva's tejas and her waters started drying up. Unable to bear further Ganga threw it towards the shores. It then gave rise to the white mountain, Swet Parvat which was full of bright golden grass that resembled the bright surface of the Sun. It was called Saravan. And from this resplendence, the brilliant Kumara (Krtikya) was born.Krittikas took him under their wing and nourished him. Hence he was called Kartikeya.
All the devas heaved a sigh of relief that their little scheme worked and bowed respects to Shiva and Uma in gratitude.
Watching all this, Parvati got angry.
she was shivering with rage, eyes red with anger cursed the devas thus. "You walked in and prevented me, who is desirous of a son from the intimacy with my husband. Therefore you shall never be able to beget progeny through your own wives. And from now onwards you wives shall remain infertile... .
She's not finished yet. She turns towards earth and curses her too, " O Earth! You shall become the wife of many and may your appearance become bizarre ! O evil minded one! Since you were part of the plot against me and my child , may you suffer from my wrath by not having any happiness from your own children!
Though Parvati did not bear Kartikeya in her womb she is the one who caused his birth by motivating Shiva. Also it is said that the Holden grass Saravan is Parvati herself who finally held him during his birth.
So this is how Parvati became Skanda Mata as per our first epic Ramayan Bala kanda.
There are slightly different versions of this story in Siva Puran Rudra Samhita and Skandajananam from Mahabharat Vana Parva.
Lakshmi
Siva Puran describes Siva with Parvat going to meet his son nourished by Krittikas.
