I've read on Jaya that Arjun was Kunti's favourite child because she invoked Indra on her own will. Yudhisthir's and Bheem's father i.e. Yama and Vayu had been invoked on Pandu's wish not her.

I won't say that it's impossible that it is true because mentions come. But I don't understand why Vyasa would not mention the daughter of the two main characters of the epic especially when it's so important in case of inheritance also. Dusshala has a mention. Suthanu absolutely having no mention is strange.

I will still not completely disregard it because it's strange that Pandavas had no daughters at all.

Dushala is mentioned because she was the wife of Jaidrath not because she was a Kuru daughter.

Just think of it, Dushala was not mentioned, we have Pandavas capturing Jaidrath in Vana Parva and Yudhishtir saying let's leave him alive else Dushhala will feel bad, what would we make of it??

Had Jaidrath not done what he did probably Dusshala would have been ignored too.

Suthanu or Bhanu serves no functions just as Lakshmana and Samb so they are not mentioned.

After killing jayadrath the fight continued till late night, Ghato died at night after sunset, it was the first time war was fought after sunset

Many characters serve to funtions 🤣 I mean if this is an account of events then they should be mentioned no? I don't consider it history completely but considering it is i am saying this.

Isn't Dushala's birth mentioned when Kauravas were born?

"Vaisampayana continued, 'That ball of flesh then, sprinkled over with

p. 242

water, became, in time, divided into a hundred and one parts, each about the size of the thumb. These were then put into those pots full of clarified butter that had been placed at a concealed spot and were watched with care. The illustrious Vyasa then said unto the daughter of Suvala that she should open the covers of the pots after full two years. And having said this and made these arrangements, the wise Dwaipayana went to the Himavat mountains for devoting himself to asceticism.

Then, O king, within a month, were born a full hundred sons unto Dhritarashtra and a daughter also in excess of this hundred.

If she was mentioned only to be Jayadrath's wife, then why not mention when Jayadrath is mentioned saying wife of him was sister to Duryodhan hence sindhu supported kauravas.

Her birth is mentioned so I don't think Suthanu was ignored because she was a girl. Moreover, Upapandavas serve no purpose too. No harm in adding a line (like dushala citation above) Stating daughters were also born. Besides her son would play an important role in inheritance and if she is married to Bhanu that's an alliance as well

By the way would the things change had Ashwathama been made the CIC after Drona??

Not just that he was better than Karna but he was also filled with rage by the deceit killing his father.

I think Duryodhan naming Karna as CIC was more of an emotional decision than tactical

Just the general vibe that Kunti liked Arjun less than her other sons unlike how this show shows kunti arjun to be rhe dearest of relationships 😆

[/QUOTE

Why is that?
