Kunti had a pale smile on her face. She admitted." Yes Bahu. I nourished her like my own daughter. I never felt that she is my grand daughter.It is too hard for me to survive without her. But...Gandhari Didi needs me with her.While Viur will look after Jyesht I have to take care of Gandhari Didi.

Draupadi did not wish to force her anymore.If she made up her mind it is good for her. She got up bowed before her and started to leave. Kunti called her from behind." Before I leave I want to ask you the question that I owe an answer from you. I hope you would be honest and clear my mind from this burden."

Panchali stopped and turned back. She waited with bated breath. She knew what is coming towards her.Is it necessary at this stage of life? She is slightly irritated and then heard Kunti uttering her words with a pause." Would you still blame me for my decision to share you?"

Draupadi stood stupefied. What did she want to convey she got confused . After a while she understood her sense and closed her eyes. Kunti then started." I knew I was at fault for your sharing. But I did it without any bad intention.In the journey of life the decision I took served the purpose to a great extent.You became the binding force for all five of them."

Kunti continued." You emerged strong in every situation. By being with Yudhi you became the empress. You are the queen of Aryavarth

My Bheemsen always attended on you and protected you with great commitment. He stood by you in your crisis. He loved you the most.

My twins are devoted to you by word and deed.They served you with loyalty.

I know I got you married to keep my sons United. I hope you also understood my motherly concern and forgive me if you are offended.

Panchali is reluctant to answer her or say anything on her part. But Kunti is in no mood to oblige.She definitely wished to hear positive words from Panchali before she leave.

Draupadi walked back and stood at the window from where the Royal garden is seen clearly. It is sunset time and the beloved son of Uttara is playing in the garden with his grand father Arjun.Nearer to that place Panchali could see Subhadra and Uttara sitting on the bench adjacent to the pool. She could see Chitra and Ulupi walking by the pool enjoying the cool breeze .

Arjun is throwing the ball in such a way so that the boy could easily pick it up and throw it again.

Panchali could see the picture of a happy family over there. Is she included in that? She doesn't know.Chitra and Ulupi approached Arjun and started chit chatting while Subhadra made Pari eat some snacks that she brought.

Kunti called from behind." I am waiting Bahu.Speak up."

Panchali's conscience forced her." Once for all pour your emotions in expression.It is essential.

ufff now she is justifying her deed

that her one son make her shamragyi

one avenge for humiliation her other loved her

but she forgot that her one son stake her in gambling

game because of his mahan son she got humiliated

she divided him among five thats why every one

pointed her character

how come she is so arrogantly saying that she did good

that her other sons loved her so she divided her 😕

Panchali did not say anything. Kunti approached her and watched the scene that captivated her daughter in law more than her words. She sighed desparately and wondered," Draupadi will never overcome her obsession for Phalgun. Years passed but she remained the same. The Empress of Aryavarth certainly is too absorbed in her love to make her free from her only misdeed as Gandhari prefers to call it that way.

Kunti remarked in a detached tone." Phalgun playing with Parikshit is a routine you know it. I thought you will offer me solace by confessing your self. Or I should satisfy myself with your silence which seemingly supports my stand my decision and the outcome."

Panchali turned back and raised her eyebrows.Suddenly her inner conscience urged her to expose herself before the woman who determined the way of her life without remorse and regret. She had a strange smile on her face.Kunti stared at her with surprise. Suddenly she felt week under her knees and sat on her couch clutching her hands into the supporting pillows.

Yajnaseni spoke with a firm voice." Mata you said it is a daily routine for your son to spend quality time with his grandson and wives. But that routine is not within my reach. I could never be a part of that happy family enjoying together. Surely Aryavarth's empress should dedicate her time for more important matters. She can not simply walk with her cowives on the poolside or enjoy lighter moments with her husband like others do."

Kunti widened her eyes and stammered" But you are the queen,you hold power Isn't it exhilarating?

Panchali nodded her head,She replied in a dejected tone," Power, you really feel I relish power and position? Mata,you said your Eldest son made me the empress.May be you meant to say that if I married Arjun I may not be able to sit on the throne.On the contrary if I married him alone I would have been a free bird like Subhadra,like Chitra and others. Most important I would have lead a hassle free life. Your Eldest wouldn't have staked me at all. Even if they lost the kingdom I would have gone to my father and returned after thirteen years."

Kunti asked her straightly," I never observe any kind of dissatisfaction regarding you ,I mean my sons felt immensely satisfied by your bonding and services. Tell me if you are not willing would you have accomplished such a difficult task?"

Panchali laughed till she get tears in her eyes. She said bitterly." Thanks for acknowledging that my task is difficult.I came across many including my co wives who felt that I am the one who is interested in polyandry. I should appreciate myself for creating such feeling. "

Kunti looked at her sharply and said," You mean you are not honest in your commitment to all the five."

Panchali became serious.She instantly retorted." Please answer my question mata,Is it possible to love all the five in the same way?

A shocking silence enveloped the surroundings. Kunti stood erect and gazed into the beautiful face of her daughter in law.She has no answer rather she doesn't want to answer. She regretted getting into the depths of the issue. She thought Draupadi would try to offer solace to her by saying everything that happened in her life turned out in such a way that resulted in peace and harmony.

Panchali raised her eyes and again looked at the garden lake. Parikshit is running fast with Uttara playfully running behind him in vain. Arjun is laughing heartfully throwing his head back. Chitra Ulupi and Subhadra are around with smiles on their face. Just when Uttara could catch him Pari jumped into Arjun's arms and got lifted by him . Pari giggled with glee and clasped his grand father's neck.

Kunti understood the reality,not now but long ago. But still her conscience is not prepared to accept the truth. How could her daughter in law admit such glaring fact without remorse or a sense of guilt ? She questioned her straightly." You confess your failure in living up to the challenge? I am disappointed."

Panchali measured her words carefully and shot back." If I emerge as a woman who failed to live up to the challenge so be it. Mata I tried my best to do so but I am also human.Sometimes heart rules the mind.I wish no one should go through the tension and turmoil that I underwent."

Kunti tried to defend herself." You know Santanav Bheeshm went to Kashi and brought Ambika and Ambalika to be wedded to his brother Vichitra Virya.So even though Phalgun is the winner Elddest and others can have you as their wife. Ofcourse polyandry is a rare instance and not followed in our society. Having said that I have to take such decision keeping in mind the unity of the Pandavas.

Panchali replied in a stern yet humble tone." Mata Ambika and Ambalika did not select Pitamah by placing the garland. But I did so. Purohits chanted mantras when I placed the garland round his neck. I became his wife then itself. I must say a wife is devided for the so called Pandava unity.

Kunti had no answer but sighed desparately. Didn't she know that fact? Yes. She did. But she just did not expect her daughter in law to spell the truth before her.

Panchali continued after a pause." If I did not marry all of them won't they stand together? I wonder. Before the marriage when they roamed in the forests they stood United. They faced the lac house fire standing together. Then why would they get separated if I marry only your third son?

Kunti muttered under her breath," but you are extraordinarily beautiful. Is that not sufficient to create differences? My Eldest never craved for anything. But I can sense how disappointed he was for not winning you for himself. Bheem Nakul Sahadev they are besotted with you. I am the mother I can understand. You also looked at them with curiosity. Did you remember?" Kunti questioned .

Panchali answered sharply." Yes I looked at them to know how my husband's brothers are. I looked at Eldest with utmost respect since he is the head of the family. I looked at Bheem with enthusiasm since I witnessed his frankness and goodness when we were returning to the hut. I looked at Nakul and Sahadev with affection since they are my husband's younger brothers. I am so ignorant of their feelings for me. I was absorbed in bliss and dreamt about my life with the person for whom I emerged from fire."

Panchali and Kunti did not observe Arjun who is listening the confession and interrogation with moisture in his eyes.

Kunti questioned her straightly." Why didn't you reveal your mind when such crucial decision was taken? You were silent. That silence definitely made us believe that you have no objection."

Panchali shivered remembering the devastating effect Kunti's decision had on her. She spoke with a pause." I know generations together and after think that way only. Panchali was silent. She liked the idea of having all the five. But They will never bother to think that her husband kept quiet and did not protest so Draupadi submitted herself for his sake. What would have happened if I protest? Either I would be sent back to Kampilya or I would be forced to marry Eldest only."

Kunti sighed deeply and stated." Ved Vyas said your previous birth connection was the cause of such happening. We went by his word only. Your father was also convinced due to that factor only."

Panchali retorted sharply." The decision was taken then Ved Vyas came to my father. Yes my father compromised. What could he do? Like me he also was helpless.Dont you know how strongly he loved your son? I heard my father's rivals spread rumours like he was elated that I married Eldest so that I could sit on the throne. Mata my father lived to see me as the wife of Arjun.That is the ultimate truth.Dont you know it?"

Kunti admitted reluctantly." Yes I am aware of his obsession . But still I am pleased with him for accepting the option and got you married to my sons. Let it be.whatever happened contributed towards the establishment of Pandava empire and flourish the Kuru clan. You suffered as per your view but I could see how you became the thread to string the Pandava pearls.My sons stood united in the face of all odds.

I strongly believe it happened due to my decision. Kanha also said that sacrifices should be made to achieve universal peace.You and Phalgun did so.My sons always stood by dharma . They fulfilled my dreams. None of them disappointed me ever. My only regret is the way you were staked by my Eldest son in dice game. I could never forgive him for that.

Finally I don't hesitate to ask you forgiveness.I am moving towards the last stage of my life I don't want to leave with guilty ness.Though I expected you to understand my decision I am fine if you nourish different feelings. Yajnaseni Draupadi,I feel gratified for what you had done for my family. May you live with peace and happiness.
