I am also unable to bear the tension of war...Pragati placed her head on Gandhari's lap and looked into her face that stored many events,expressions,feelings and secrets. She always loved this cute little bubbly girl daughter of her Phalgun and Draupadi.Along with Kunti she nourished her and tried her best to fill the void in her life.She never allowed any of her son's to ridicule the little girl for the predicament of her parents.She understood her curiosity to know about her parents and she won't disappoint her certainly not today." Even though I apply my mind on everything I love Veena more than anything. I feel connected to my father through that.' Gandhari sighed.' Pragati that is human tendency. Though we like many we have a special feeling for one that is nearer to our heart.Panchali is duty bound. She treated all the five with equal respect but love? That can not be shared in equal quantity.She loved your father.It is not wrong on her part. She was born for him .And every one loves him too. I am sure Duryothan likes him a lot. But destiny had written Karna in his fate not Arjun. " Pragati laughed at her last word and coaxed her.' Pitamahi whom did my father love? There are many wives he married. He never exposed his true feelings. But still. She knew. Priyamvadha knew. In her heart of hearts Kunti knew.But is there any incident where his inner feelings dominated his suppressed emotions? Gandhari went back years before when Indraprasth celebrated Pragati's birth and days after The Valiant Rajkumar Arjun's birth day with great fervour as it coincided with his conquest of quarters .

Arjun watched his grand father's Sarvato mukhanVyuha and praised his skill in his heart of hearts. The vast Kaurava army is looking like an ocean that is rising high with tides and about to swallow the opponent army which is like a river before it.Arjun looked back to see his Vajra vyuha which is quite imposing but due to the lesser number they have that is seven Akshouhinis over all may have to be on the defensive tactics.The Kauravas are Eleven Akshouhinis in number which is quite vast compared to them. He observed the absence of his arch rival Karna and asked Krishna the reason.Krishna replied in a cool manner.' Your Pitamah called him Artharath while giving grades to warriors. He got angry and pledged that he won't enter the battle field till Santanav Bheeshm falls down." Arjun is miffed.' So he already came to the conclusion that Pitamah will succumb. Why should he declare Pitamah thus even before war? Don't he know Pitamah!/'s prowess? My grandfather is far above every one and it includes him and me also." Arjun 's sarcastic words made Krishna smile. He said.' Parth enough of your Pitamah chant.Now he is your rival. Forgot all that I told not long before?" Arjun nodded his head halfheartedly. But how can he forget his relationship with his dear Pitamah? Before he could say anything Krishna made the horses gallop towards the old Maharathi who already started firing the Pandava army.Bheemsen attacked Bheeshm before Arjun could reach him. Fierce battle started between Yudhi and Salya,Dhrisht and Dron,Ghatotkach and Alambush,Drupad and Jayathrath,. Iravan fought with Srutayu,son of Dhritrashtr.But Bheeshm dominated every one and created havoc in Pandava side.Then Abhi rushed towards Pitamah and shot him with darts that made the old warrior praise his great grandson's skills.Bheem also stood by his brother's son and fought fiercely.In the meanwhile Uttara rushed forward and attacked Salya who dominated Yudhi. Salya lost his horses and charioteer. He became mad with fury and killed Uttar with a powerful Astr.Arjun just reached and took Uttara in his hands with tears in his eyes. His brave charioteer at Uttargograhan lost his precious life and he was a kid only. Uttara smiled at him before closing his eyes and muttered Gurudev, I fought today." Arjun stared into his innocent face and stammered.' We are indebted to you my child." As the body of Uttara was taken away Krishna and Arjun watched Sankha the brother of Uttara attack Salya with mad fury.In the meanwhile Bheeshma destroyed Panchal army just like forest fire burns deep forests.Bheeshma's valour overpowered Pandava army in every way and they lost their zeal and energy looking at the oldest warrior who stood invincible. Duryothan beamed with joy and thought he already won the battle.The sunset happened as if to stop another Sun called Bheeshma from causing more destruction.As Arjun and Krishna reached the tent of Yudhi in the night they could see his anguish filled face and despair in his words.' Grandfather will destroy all our army within two days.Krishna I feel it is a futile exercise to fight Pitamah. The one who can counter him stood dazed without doing proper defence. Only Bheema fought wholeheartedly.I think I should stop this battle and retire to forest again." Krishna consoled him and encouraged him.' Why are you losing hope? Just one day they dominated. Anything may happen tomorrow. Don't forget Sikhandi is born to kill him.As for Parth you know his Pitamah Prem. It takes a while before he unleashes his full mettle. And I am here to guide him. Dhrishtdyumn,Show your competence by leading the army tomorrow.Which vyuh you decided with Parth? " Dhrisht replied.' Kraunch Vyuh.Yudhishter got back his hope and retired to sleep. Panchali who followed the events crossed Krishna after dinner.' Govind. It is painful we lost Uttar on the first day itself. What will happen tomorrow? Will my husband reconcile to fight his Pitamah? I am depressed." Krishna assured her.' Don't worry Krishnaa. You know him as I do. He will definitely reconcile. Be positive.You do your duty. Infuse faith and energy. What I do althrough the day you should carry it forward." Draupadi nodded her head and went to Arjun's tent. He is standing at the window and staring into the moonlit night. Panchali approached him and touched his shoulder. Arjun did not turn back.He placed his hand on her hand. Panchali understood his assurance.Surely he must be feeling bad for not saving Uttar who is like Abhi to him.Panchali hugged him from behind closely making him feel her love,confidence and pride in him . You will do it Arjun. I believe in you.You will never let your people down."She didn't say those words. But they reached him and revived his spirits.

Pragati lied in Ganthari's lap and gazed into her eyes. Ganthari already travelled back to the great capital of Pandavas the prosperous Indra Prasth,protected by the valiant Savyasachi.The city is filled with guests from Hastinapur who attended the Rajasuya Sacrifice.The Royal Palace is brimming with activity as all the sons of Pandavas are present but with variations in age. Iravan is the elder grandson and he is a boy who is inhibited,shy full and well mannered. Then the four sons of Draupadi with one or two years age gap looking exactly like their fathers . Then Babhru son of Manipur princess Chitra who is good looking but mostly needs his mother to guide him every minute.The charming son of Subhadra comes next but he is the best of the lot in every way.He looked like a mixture of his father and Mama . He is a Six year old but can shoot arrows like an adult . The third Pandav's obsession for Abhi is well known by then.Draupadi's Kirti is a two year old while her daughter Pragati is months baby.Alli is pregnant and Rekha did not bring her son..Apart from these Devika,Jalanthara,Karenu and Vijaya had their sons there.It was a special day for Indraprasth.For Kunti it was a mixture of happiness and bitterness. Her husband left her to reach un known worlds on the fourth birth day of Arjun. Madri left her sons and accompanied her husband on that day only. Kunti sat with a gloomy face reminiscing the saddest moments of her life. Ganthari came and brought her into reality.' Why are you sitting and brooding over past? Forgot your son's birth day? What will his wives think if you do so?" Kunti wiped off her tears and asked Priyamvada ' Where is Arjun? Why didn't he come to me early in the morning? Did he take auspicious bath? " Priyamvada answered.' He didn't return from yajnasala yet. He and Govind still there I think. His wives are anxious to spend time with him but he is not available. " Ganthari ordered her.' Send him message to immediately come over here.Ask Panchali to be ready with Aarti thali." Arjun received the message and smirked. ' Here so much work is left but mothers won't understand. Am I a small kid to celebrate birth days?Already I am tensed up seeing Bhrata Bheem and Duryothan who. Never leave a chance to prove their one upmanship. That is not enough,my wives are already into something to make me confess my love for them on this day as they want to prove themselves the best. And your Satya I can sense she is ready with her hopeless strategies to make me admit my love for Panchali. as she believes I love her more than others." Krishna placed his hand on his Parth's shoulder.' I know all these are not the reasons for your sulking. You associate your birth day with your father's death. But certainly you should realise that it is just a co incidence. That's all. Now celebrate your birth day for your loved ones. They deserve it Parth. " Arjun tried to convince himself but he knew along with him some one else is also gloomy. His mother. He should try to wipe off her bitter memories atleast.TO BE CONTINUED.

The Krauncha bird formation of Pandavas looked spectacular under the supervision of Arjun and Dhrisht dyumn.Bheem became the right wing and Abhi became the left wing.The body was one third the the length of the long wings and legs.It became a triangle with limbs joined,Virata stood at its apex.Kuntibhoja is the right eye.Behind him stood Drupada.Yudhi is in the centre.Arjun stationed at the edges to the beak's point.On Dury's insistance Bheeshma arranged three vyuhas. Duryothan in the middle back,Drona,Aswathama on one side front and Bheeshma on another side front. The Vyuha looked quite imposing and as the war started Bheeshma destroyed the army in the wings of Pandava vyuha.He disturbed the head of the vyuha and continued his onslaught.Arjun knitted his eyebrows and bit his lips.He asked Krishna to take his chariot to Bheeshma.Krishna encouraged him.' Parth exhibit your valour. Make me proud. Let grand father realise your true might.' Arjun destroyed the army of Surasen country easily and attacked Bhishm. On seeing that,Drona Salya and Duryothan came to assist Bheeshm.All of them showered cluster of arrows on Arjun.Arjun shot hundreds of arrows on them and overpowered them. He created havoc in Kaurava army by killing many.Kaurava army started running and Dury ridiculed Pitamah for not tackling Arjun.Bheeshm got irritated and wounded Krishna with his arrows.Arjun got angry and shot fire tipped arrows and Bheeshm tried every bit to save his army from the fire of Arjun's anger.In the meanwhile Dhrisht fought with Dron ferociously.Bheem fought with Srutayu and killed his herds of elephants.Bheema made Sritayu unconscious and killed his charioteer.Then Bheema even fought with grandfather vigorously.He killed Bheeshma's charioteer.At another place Abhi and Duryothan's son Lakshman fought with each other and Abhi wounded Lakshman.Dury got angry and attacked Abhi with many warriors.Arjun saw this and immediately reached there to assist his son.He showered his hundreds of arrows on Duryothan Bheeshm and others.The battlefield shook with terror on seeing him furious.His hands were light and quick.Arrows flowed like oil from his hands. He felt Duraga behind him.Arjun fought with great energy and made Bheeshm and Dron dumbfounded.Bheeshma was forced to retreat as it became impossible to control Arjun. He called Drona and said.' With Krishna as his charioteer Arjun is looking like the Lord of destruction,Sankar Shiv.You gather our army who are afraid of him and lost confidence.The Sun also is setting now. Let us call off the battle now."As Kauravas retreated back Pandava army shouted in joy. They praised Krishna and Arjun and danced in ecastacy.Abhi ran to Arjun and clung to his neck. I am proud of you father." He said with twinkling eyes. Iravan stared at his father in awe. He remembered the stories of his valour narrated to him by his mother in his childhood. I saw him live in action mother " he told his mother who is not present there. Panchali who is busy with dinner preparations for the army lost her balance as Kirti came like whirlwind and shook her with force and hugged her.Panchali smiled at him and questioned. Why are you so thrilled?" Kirti could not control himself and stammered. Maa Pitasri defeated every one today. Even Pitamah could not do anything. Neither Gurudev. Kauravas ran back." Panchali got tears in her eyes. Soon she was surrounded by Abhi,Iravan her son's who are jumping with delight. She looked at her Govind who smiled at her assuringly. Finally her Arjun did his duty. No need to bother of the outcome of the battle now. She closed her eyes as tears fell down her cheeks making her look more beautiful.
