Read Chapter 6 & 7
Chapter 6, the focus on Irvan was superbly written. Bringing the characters which the readers of MB least know was a good ploy. Loved the way Irvan was portrayed... the handsome, fun loving and someone the brother Babhrubahan looks up too...superb

Chapter 7 : focus on the emotion of the young price. The paternal gap...well written and how a son yearns for the approval of a dad was awesome. I loved the way it was shown how the mother worries about her child, even when the child is going to be the king of a nation...You got he emotion correct.

For me Arjun not taking the effort to get to know his 2 other sons is really offending but then, who am I to comment. Maybe, the feelings were there but the sage who wrote the story of MB focused more on KK then other emotional stuff. Sage Vyas wanted to show the valor of the pandavas, the greatness of Gita and the teaching of Krishna...so, the rest, stayed as unspoken past...

Love the way how you are steadily expending the story...well done...

Chapter-8
Evening had overwhelmed Hastinapur when Arjun's chariot reached small house of Suta Adhirath. Even after repeated request Karna's family didn't agree to live in royal palace. Arjun comes down from chariot and stands near the door. From here he can look inside the house. Adhirath and Radha seemed very old in these three years. Even in this old age Adhirath was oiling a chariot wheel. He still didn't stop working as charioteer of Dhritarastra. Radha was performing daily evening prayer. It was painful to see except eighty years old Radha all other women of this house were in widow attire who are either her daughter-in-laws or her granddaughter-in-law.

Arjun hesitated to enter and for few time kept watching the family from the door. Vasusharma was busy in tying string of a huge bow probably of his father. He is eight years old now and attends royal gurukul and is regarded best student of which. The golden skinned child looks exactly same as his father and grandfather. A sweet girl around eleven-twelve years of age was painting some beautiful usu (Alpana or Rangoli) on the small compound. Arjun knows she is Basumati. Daughter of Adhirath and Radha's biological son Shon, and Shon's last remembrance as Shon and his sons were killed in Kurukshetra war as well as his elder brother. Arjun also knows Karna had adopted Basumati as own daughter since he had no daughter and he longed for one. This was again something similar between two unknown brothers, Because Arjun had a regret of having no daughter of his own which he had always wished secretly. How much similarities they had shared still wonders Arjun.
Basumati's mother, Shon's widow was grinding wheat in the mill. She seems quite older than her own age because of the storm of tragedies had hit her. Her hairs had started becoming white, skin started loosening, that is the situation of maximum women of Aryavart who had lost husband, sons, brothers and relatives in the war.
A dark skinned woman of late twenties was fetching water in earthen pot. Arjun had never seen such a dark beauty as pundra princess Suchna after Panchali. Suchna's long open hair, grave, solemn yet determined face, her strong personality, her perfectly shaped tall figure would have reminded Panchali of her age if Suchna was not in widow attire. Vrishasen had inherited the shining golden skin of his father. His mother Vrishali too was white lotus like fair. So why Karna had chosen such dark princess for his dearest son was quite a strange thing to wonder about.
Urubhi was writing something. In these years she had become quite skinny but tragedy added a new angle to her beauty. The wheatish skinned Kanchan princess had always shared same strong personality of her elder step sister Panchal princess. In the basis of which Uruvi could show the courage of garlanding Karna in sayamvar over all princes of Aryavart including Arjun himself. Arjun doesn't deny that he had grown a liking for the slim looking pretty sister of Panchali ever since he met grown up maiden Urubhi after returning from exile. Even everyone of the sayamvar hall was sure Urubhi will garland Arjun only and there was also discussion how Draupadi will accept her own sister as another wife of her dear husband but leaving everyone in shock Urubhi had chosen Sutputra and that had caused quite stir among the guests to reach the extent of threatening of war. Arjun had himself felt upset too but respecting Urubhi's decision he remained silent and when Krishna himself supported the decision the possibility of battle could be avoided. Urubhi was outcast for her choice, king Drupad disowned Urubhi as daughter, her foster father and maternal uncle Kanchan king although didn't disown her from princess rights but didn't support her too, but she had readily accepted that. Her love for Karna helped her to remain strong and go through thick and thin of life same as Panchali. In widow attire Urubhi's elegance was evoking respect.
Before Arjun would have stepped in his feet frozen to see another copperish skinned widow lady stitching cloth there. The tall and strong built woman was few years older than Urubhi although younger than Vrishali. Not as beautiful as other two co-wives but Supriya has a certain attractive feature for which men cant ignore her. She is quite harsh tongue and had lashed quite a lot to pandavas. Her twin son Shatrunjaya and Dvipa were killed in combat with Arjun. Not only that her strongest support Duryodhan's wife Kalinga princess Bhanumati had performed Sati in her husband's pyre. Arjun knows that when with help of Karna, Duryodhan abducted Kalinga princess from her sayamvar Bhanumati had made a condition to wed him that Karna has to marry her maid Supriya and although reluctant but with Duryodhan's persuasion Karna agreed. Karna perhaps didn't love Supriya as much he did to her childhood love compassionate suta wife Vrishali or bold and intelligent royal princess Urubhi and for that Supriya had insecurities and she used to find solace in Bhanumati's company. So she has justified reason to not to forgive pandavas. If Arjun had knowledge of Supriya's coming back from her paternal house of Kalinga he would have think twice before coming here. He still fears her wrath.

"pita till when you are going to keep us waiting here? Parikshit doesn't want to sit silently anymore." an annoyed tone comes from the chariot. Arjun looked back to see a beautiful white skinned widow girl of late teen was looking at him impatiently. Matsya princess has grown up from girl to a woman in these years but the person to acknowledge Uttara's beauty is no more there. Parikshit was trying to come down from chariot and Uttara was trying her best to control him. Parikshit inherited both the beauty and naughtiness of Abhimanyu its hard to keep him calm for long time. Arjun hadn't dare to face Karna's family alone so he had brought his daughter in law and grandson as all the members of this house admire them.
"Kakashree, what are you waiting for? Come inside none will say anything to you." Vrishketu assured to see Arjun hesitating. "don't worry about Suprima too. I have told everyone that you are coming."
"putra you take Uttara and Parikshit inside. And tell Urubhi i need to talk to her alone." says Arjun.
"but kakashree" Vrishketu tried to resist."
"no son i don't want to bother anyone, i know they would feel uncomfortable with my presence. Just ask your mother to meet me, its necessary." Arjun states.
Vrishketu nods unwillingly and obeys uncle's order.
Entering into house Parikshit runs to Vasusharma first. Such a holds Uttara's hand makes her sit with her. These two girls had grown an emotional connection with each other.
"bhrata what are you doing?" says three years old prince holding knees of his elder brother.
"holding a bow. You want to learn?" asks Vasusharma and Parikshit nods giggling. Soft moonlike fair skinned Arjun's grandson sits on lap of burning sunlike golden skinned Karna's grandson. It seemed to Arjun two pieces of Sun and Moon are playing together.

actually there was a version where Iravan was being sacrificed as he had all 32 qualities to a ritual for the victory of Pandavas instead of getting killed by Alamvush with deceit and in that version iravan's last wish was to get a wife so Krishna took mohini form and became iravan's wife for a night and after Iravan was sacrificed mohini cried so much ever a widow had cried (I hate that version though it gives me an urge to kill pandavas) but it can be guessed Iravan could have a wish to get love romance princess and all and then he was way elder than Abhimanyu so even though not married proposals of marital alliance surely was there and its also written Vrishketu was married during the conquering mission of Aswamedha to Yavanta princess so may b two version amalgamated

Gosh...watching your family, any family...full of widows and that too because you (in this case Arjun) are the reason or part of the reason...the feeling will kill you. The way you have started this chapter...beautiful 😊
