At least he did not know that his wife would be dragged to the court & all Kuru elders would watch like dumbs, a man who himself could not commit such a crime, was naturally unable to imagine such a future scene.

This thread is for the author, I don't think we should continue with epic Yudhi discussion - but still, here's my stance.

He has been cheated in the game, He has lost his kingdom, His brothers freedom. His Brothers have been humiliated in the worst manner, by being made slaves. Then he decides to stake his wife - what exactly did he think would happen. When he lost so much, there are high chances that he could loose his wife too, no? If Panchali was the first one to be staked, i could go with ur logic, but she was the last. For me that is foolishness, not innocence.

If BANS did this we could say they didn't think it thru, they ran with their emotions or whatever. But Yudhi is not that way, right. He is always shown to be very introspective and calm. He made a grave mistake, I agree - but I stand by my statement - he was foolish not innocent.

Great answer Urmi, I am proud of you ! 👏
When Kuru women were taken captive by Gandharvas in ghosha yatra, Yudi could also call them bandhakis and or could have ordered to be stripped after they were rescued by B and A but he chose not to, he knows how its to be a slave, which sissy Dury WAS! at that point . That is Yudi for you!!

Guys, this is the book chat thread. If we want to (cough) discuss (cough)😆 the characters and their foibles we can take it to the DK thread (even though it is going to give me more of an ulcer)

We have two more near confirmations for chat. Lets not scare them off😃 Who knows one of them may be your fav

Salutes to Ved Vyas. What a composition! 5000 years down the line - and he can still keep us engaged, passionate, voluble and eager for more!

Feel free to continue leaving Qs; I am hoping to keep the thread open for, say 1 week?

And I second that sentiment about VV. As an author / narrator, he certainly knew how to hold the audience's interest

Hello Mam
Thanks for answering all the questions though i still have a few not related to the epic but to the story as told in Aryavrata chronicles only

1)Like you said that in the beginning Govinda's plans had to be weaved around Vyasa this was another reason why he choose Dharma.I agree with this but i am still unclear on why Vyasa wanted Dharma instead of Suyodhan?

2)Also i am bit confused about the whole history of firstborn and firewrights .So i will just say as i understand things and you can tell me in case i am wrong

Satya was born as a firstborn though Matsya was a land of firewrights. She was trained by Ghora as a firewright then she had Krishna Dwaiyampyana through Prashara hence Dwaiyampyana was both Firstborn and firewright .The rest how Kuru line was sired i understand.

3)Why does Queen Satya want her line to sit on the imperial throne? Is there any particular reason for this dream? Also why didnt Satya train her son as a firewright? Why didnt she tell him what she wanted reagrding the firewright order but still told him that she wants her line to rule Aaryavrata?

I am yet to read Kurushetra so in case any of these questions are answered in Kurushetra let me know
