In all the non-divine books, Panchali screams out Govinda and by then he is the big man on campus and all get scared thinking of what he is going to do. That's what scares them, not Panchalis curse. There is no miracle, just a healthy fear of Govinda

AC has a different take on VH. The author shows it as a plot to trap and kill GOVINDA in Dwarka (by DDSK using Shalwa) and DS is meant to be a distraction to keep Panchali and Pandavas busy so they won't go to his help. Then they invite them over and make sure no messages reach them. Then the dice game gets out of hand. According to AC, Dushy is the perv, who tries to take advantage of the situation and tries VH, almost rape really. Then the mob mentality sets in and everyone joins in.

Finally Panchali screams for GOVINDA and everyone gets shocked back into their senses and Dhritharashtra tries to pacify her to avoid G's wrath
