Actually, after Drona's death, AshDu did become quite a dear friendship. It was on Ashwi's advice on the night of day 15 that Dury made Karna his senapati. When Ashwi saw Dury wounded after his fight w/ Bhima, he told him that that hurt him even more than his father's death through deception. After Ashwi returned following his massacre, Dury congratulated him for pulling off what neither Bheeshma, Drona or even Karna could pull off.

So it's not such a distortion @ this stage. But yeah, it was ridiculous showing Ashwi a fan of Dury throughout the story. It only started after Drona's death thru treachery
