could be, it was drona who was keeping check on ashwi's negetivity, when he died, ashwi unleashed his anger by using naaraayanaastra and he showed wickedness showed itself by attacking upapandava's and the redirecting bramhashiraastra to the pandava women's womb, outright evil.

Night battles were nothing new, Ghatokatch devoured the Kauarava Army on the 14th night. Killing a unarmed warrior already happened in the killing of Drona. Killing a warrior while he was facing his back, too happened in the killing of Karna.

Ashwathama, In my humble opinion, did not break any of these rules, he marched into the Pandava camp and was spotted by the 5 sons of Draupadi - they had a battle with Ashwathma - who was very angry and very powerful ( at that moment ), 5 of them fought with him and died.

The only immoral and senseless thing Ashwathama did - was to fire Brahmashira at Pandava womenfolk.

Am not sure if there are any texts explicitly stating whether Devaki forgave Kans or not. If anybody has read it then its good.

Kans was already dead by the time Krishna and Balarama freed Devaki and Vasudev, so while Devaki grieved for her dead children I don't think she thought too much about Kans

Not only a peaceful mind, but also a good possibility of drink induced sleep, considering that the mood was celebratory.

And yeah regarding breaking the rules, too many of them had been broken earlier so it's just one more. I personally have no problem with Ashwi attacking at night, after all the combatants were fighting each other 4 nights earlier.

Sending the Bramshira astra at the Pandava women is something unpardonable and I sincerely hope and pray that he is still suffering somewhere in the jungles

Actually, the curse from Krishna was for 3,000 years only. Mahabharata happened some 5,000 years ago ( Correct me on this one If I am wrong ), so most probably he has left earth and is not wandering now.

..." The holy one said, "The fall of this mighty weapon will not be fruitless. The foetus will die. But being dead, it will live again and have a long life! As regards thyself, all wise men know thee for a coward and a sinful wretch! Always engaged in sinful acts, thou art the slayer of children. For this reason, thou must have to bear the fruit of these thy sins. For 3,000 years thou shalt wander over this earth, without a companion and without being able to talk with anyone. Alone and without anybody by thy side, thou shalt wander through diverse countries, O wretch, thou shalt have no place in the midst of men. The stench of pus and blood shall emanate from thee, and inaccessible forests and dreary moors shall be thy abode! Thou shalt wander over the Earth, O thou of sinful soul, with the weight of all diseases on thee. "...

Ya,I too saw that...In the midst of MP,there is an old temple of Krishna in which around 4:00 AM,people hear the loud sound of conch shells being blown. It was shown that there were also many scriptures of the war and the painting of Ashwi where his gem was taken off...People strongly believe that he is Ashwi who blows the conch at the temple.😕

thanks watcher for the information
i agree with you

Only dhrishdyumna was killed in his sleep no one else.Ashwathama had entered drishtdyumna's tent and awakened him since drishtdyumna was sleepy he couldn't fight with ashwi with his full strength hence ashwi was able to kill him. Then there was a lot of commotion in pandav camp a lot of wailing and crying all of druapadi's sons came out with their bows and arrows and attacked ashwi he was even injured by them but since he was very powerful at that time he was able to kill them all
