Hello Everyone,
I am still new here.
Would like to ask you guys a question Vrishali asked Karna. Karna ask this to Kunti when he was in denial.

My thought on the answer or debate.
- Dharm se abhiman hai.. - Whatever u think is dharm is ur pride. Whether it's Bheeshm's dharm or Karna's dharm.. doing the right thing and taking pride in that.
Krishn said to Karna in old mahabharat that he admired Karna, because whatever Karna thought as Dharm he stood by it. Whether it is to proving his skills or whether it is to paying his debt. Whether it is to give away his kawach n kundl knowing the outcomes. Not deflecting from what is right thing to do.
Bheeshm on the other hand, his acts are dharm as he was binded by hastinapur. He didn't not deflect from his duty even if that caused him death.
Dharm se hi abhiman hai..

Abhiman se dharm? now that I need some input from you guys. who would that be? Pandvas or Kurus?

Or both coexist? combination of dharm and pride - Yudhishthir would be one example of that. Dyut sabha and him loosing would be an example.

Leave your thoughts and votes.

Much appreciations!

I voted for 'Question is wrong'

I once read something that according to Brahma, while just about every other sin is forgivable, the one sin that is not forgivable is ingratitude. Lakshman apparently pointed that out to Sugreev when he confronted him over forgetting his promise to Rama. So the question of going back on that just didn't arise. In MB itself, Shalya found himself bound to fight for Duryodhan due to the favors he blindly (& stupidly) accepted.

It's wrong to have pride in dharm - that's what landed Yudisthir in his mess, and cost the Pandavas more than needed. It's as wrong to have dharam in pride, which was the reason both Arjun & Bhima failed to reach heaven alive.

But Karna didn't really have a choice here. I think what Bheeshma, Drona, Kripa & Ashwatthama did in supporting the Kauravas was more sinful than what Karna did, since those 4 weren't indebted to Duryodhan, the way Karna was.

I won't say Bhism, Drone or Karn did sin in supporting Kaurav during war. Dharm is very confusing.
If we see Mahadev, he support demon Banasure to keep his promise. Lord Vishnu have to defeat him. If we see Vishnu, he break his promise given to Daksh not to fight with Veerbhadra. And you know Mahadev never take birth in the world and Lord Vishnu have to take birth time to time for greater cause.
Thats the case of Bhism, Drone, Kripacharya or Karn. Bhism by his promise, Drone and Kripa by their duty of KulGuru, Karna by loyality and debt and all the soldier at the command of their king stick to Kaurav side. Even Yudhistir stick to dice game because of promise and for respect of his tauoshri.

What will you say about Narayani sena who at the order of God fight in favor of Adharm side?

I just don't recognize the Banasura in DkDM, but won't go into that much here. Similarly, w/ Daksha, there was no promise - Vishnu fought to protect Daksha's yagna, and was clobbered by Veerbhadra (but that's apparently anathema to Vaishnavas, so one can't show it on TV).

Bheeshma's only promise to Satyavati's father was to remain abstinent his whole life: there was nothing about protecting the Hastinapur throne. Similarly, Drona, Kripa or Ashwi never made any promises to Dhritarashtra either. Ashwi joined the Kauravas b'cos like Karna, he too envied Arjun, and his father & uncle just followed him.

Yudisthir was an imbecile, but most blind Pandava supporters turn that blind eye to his actions, no matter how self destructive, while blaming Karna, amongst others.

Yeah, if you go by the ⭐️B accounts, then it's another thing altogether.

Okkk...
I don't about Bhism promise.
But Bhism was Senapati from the beginning. It was his duty to save the kingdom at the time of attack. Yup he can resign from Senapati like Vidur had resigned minister post.

Drona was Kulguru. He also had to follow king's order. And when Drona was very poor Dhristrarastra made him Guru of his sons and give him enough money.
Yup.. He can deny in participation of war by saying that he was brahman not kshatriya.

Not to say about Aswi

You know the dilemma of Karn.

What about soldiers of Hastinapur?

What about Narayani Sena?

And Vishnu didnt fight with veerbhadra. Vishnu always take dharma side. Krishna say in bgita that taking dharma side is greater than any promises, duty, loyality, debt, boon. Vishnu can negelect his own boon and even kill his own bhakt if it interfere with taking side of Adharma.

And Mahadev keep his promises to save Banasure but tell Krishna to use Antardhyan weapon to switch him to another place for sometime. At that time Krishna cut all hands of Banasur

Is Abhimaan even the right word to designate pride? Abhimaan is pride in vain. Gourav is more likely a better word I guess.

Dharma is all about perspective .. we must not forget there are worshiper of Duryadhana too .. the same story of Mahabharata but two group see it in different way .. n majority doesn't prove who is right or who is wrong

Therefore, you can't define "Dharma" .. everyone has the right to determine his/her own "Dharma" n unless n until "Dharma" becomes synonymous to "religion" I guess everyone shares the freedom of explaining it in der own way .. n if they strongly believe in their conviction of Dharma n it has enough substantial logic .. they have every right to be proud of it ..

For me the Biggest ADHARMA is back stabbing, treachery .. treachery to friends , treachery to country .. If karna had back stabbed his friend n joined Pandava side then he would never be KARNA .. whom we admire, respect n love .. he wouldn't be inspiration of great men, scholars .. literature wouldn't get an eternal muse .. n a man who can sacrifice everything .. just reject the throne like it is a worthless dry leaf .. he has every right to take pride on his Honesty and righteousness .. don't we take pride on his??

so my answer will be the 1st option .. any time

PS: Not only karna I don't call Duryadhana or even Shakuni adharmi .. He believed Pandava's doesn't belong to Kuru blood therefore he is the only successor of Kuru dynasty n he did everything to secure his right .. n he was good as a king too .. so he did his duty as a ruler .. Shakuni the undisputed villain of epic .. think if anyone do the same to your family n country what Kurus did to Sakuni .. I guess anyone would do the same .. destroying them who destroyed my land .. We just need to sharpen our "empathizing power" n we will see the whole war was just an unavoidable political condition .. dharma-adharma is just a ages old meaningless notion

K. Garv sounds better.😊
Edit: but that is not what was used in Karna's and Kunti's conversation. Thus I wrote question as it is.
