The citations provided above itself say that Arjuna did not defeat gandharvas, he did not hold Chitrasena 'by his collar', No-where it is written that Arjuna routed Chitrasena, Chitrasena introduced himself to Arjuna and the fight was stopped. Note that the fight was not over but stopped by Chitrasena.

Deathbed citations have already been provided, The conversation between Bhishma and Karna itself say that Bhishma deliberately every time insulted Karna

I didn't really understand - Was it to explain WHY Pandavas needed allies in the Kurukshetra war? Or was it to explain why the Pandavas stayed back in Matsya after the exile?

Looking at Yudi's dialogues in the precap, it seems like YBNS might face the same problem that Arjuna did on the Kurukshetra battlefield itself...dilemma of fighting one's own family.
