No that is an entirely different one!

Compare both of them...

KMG translated Ved Vyas Mahabharat...

Vyasa said 'In a certain hermitage there was an illustrious Rishi's daughter, who, though handsome and chaste, obtained not a husband. The maiden gratified, by severe ascetic penances, the god Sankara (Mahadeva). The lord Sankara, gratified at her penances, told her himself. 'Ask thou the boon thou desirest' Thus addressed, the maiden repeatedly said unto the boon-giving Supreme Lord, 'I desire to obtain a husband possessed of every accomplishment. Sankara, the chief of the gods, gratified with her, gave her the boon she asked, saying, 'Thou shall have, amiable maiden, five husbands.' The maiden, who had succeeded in gratifying the god, said again, 'O Sankara, I desire to have from thee only one husband possessed of every virtue?' The god of gods, well-pleased with her, spake again, saying, 'Thou hast, O maiden, addressed me five full times, repeating, 'Give me a husband.' Therefore, O amiable one, it shall even be as thou hast asked. Blessed be thou. All this, however, will happen in a future life of thine!'

The one I posted above...

"Krishna consoled Draupadi by sharing the knowledge of her past life. In an earlier life, Draupadi had invoked Shiva for a husband who was honest, husband who was strong, husband who was very skilled, husband who was handsome and husband who was a knowledgeable. Shiva had granted her this wish literally and provided her with 5 husbands. In some retellings, Shiva states that one man cannot have such qualities so she will have to marry 5 men."Source for this story...which puran!?

So my question is...

Krishna and Balarama come to visit the Pandavas in the potter's house. But they are told nothing about this strange decision of sharing Draupadi.I think Balaram & Krishna never intervened in this matter they just introduced themselves and saluted Kunti,Yuddhishtir&Bheem and greeted other brothers and left.

In the entire epic written by Ved Vyas did Krishna or Balaram raise their opinion either supporting or against this decision of Pandavas to share Draupadi!?

So,what were the consequences of Pashupatastra,Brahmadanda,Narayanastra.Bhargavastra,Prashvastra?

It maybe be possessed by everyone, but nobody ever fired it in the war ( Citation are welcome ).

Pashupatastra
: I think this weapons power has been over-exaggerated, It was said that if this weapon is fired it destroy the three worlds, but did it destroy 'the three worlds' when fired against Jaydrath, it did not.

Brahmadana : Since none knew this weapon other than Drona himself, there was no counter to it, Drona, I guess, fired it on the 15th day and Pandava Army was destroyed.

Narayanastra : Only three people knew it, Drona, Ashvi and of-course Krishna, When Drona was killed deceitfully, Ashvi got angry and fired Narayanastra on the Pandavas. The more you fight with Narayanastra, It will increase power and speed of its attack. There is no counter to this weapon since you cannot fight. Only way to stop it was to lay all your weapons and stop fighting. Krishna advised the pandava to do this, thus they were saved.

Bhargavastra : It contained the power of Parshurama himself, Karna fired it two times in Kurekshetra and Arjuna had to leave the fight due to the power of the Astra.

Prashvastra ( This spelling is not right ) : It can put the foe to sleep, Bhishma was about to use this on his guru but was stopped by the gods.

plz anybody clear my confusion! I always heard bheeshma prevented karna from participating in war when he was commander.but the passage below tells karna obstained due to insult fron bheeshma.

Karna snarled. "Your praise of Krishna is proper,
O Grandfather. I know Him to be as great - even
greater - than you say, but I can no longer
tolerate your cruel words toward me. Hear now
the result of your harshness. I will not engage in
battle as long as you are present. Rather, I will
lay down my weapons until you are laid low.
Then the world will see my prowess."
Karna stormed out of the hall. Bhishm laughed
again and turned toward Duryodhan. "The suta's
son is a man who keeps his word. How will he
now fulfil his promise to wipe out the enemy
troops? In this assembly I heard him say, 'All of
you here shall be the witness. I will again and
again kill thousands and tens of thousands of
enemy soldiers.' How will he act upon it now?
He is passionate and arrogant. At the very
moment he cheated the holy rishi Parashuram
he lost all virtue and ascetic merits."

@srishtisingh

Yes, that is correct, Bhishma deliberately insulted Karna so that he doesn't fight against his own brothers.

He called Karna 'ardh-ratha', that is half a rathi ( lowest designation for a warrior), Karna is often called "equal to two Maharathis", Karna took this as his insult and resisted from the battle as long as the grandsire is alive, that is exactly what Bhishma wanted karna to do.

They fought the war and were alive till the last night, one can say that they sacrificed themselves (Though unknowingly ) for the Panadavas. Ashvasthama killed them in their sleep on the 18th night.

They weren't that great of a warrior to fight against Bhishma, Karna or Drona. Shuthavindhya killed Karna's son, Chitrasena. Srutakarna killed Dushashans son who killed Abhimanyu, thus, taking revenge of his brother.

Chitrasena was killed by Nakul on day 18, although there is one mention of him being killed by someone else on day 16 or 17.

Can you find the citation of where Sahadev's son kills Dushashan's son? I've looked for it from Abhimanyu vadh to Shalya Parva, and not found it. So please reproduce it here.

I wish to discuss the 'Shakuni's revenge' folklore. KMG nowhere mentions this revenge angle. The Tamil version states that Shakuni was power-hungry and he only convinced his father to accept the proposal (Got the Tamil version info from an admin of the FB page: Star plus's factually incorrect Mahabharata). He never gave a damn to his sister's happiness. I strongly believe that the Geeta press translations rubbish this revenge angle i.e. Folklore too.
What the other English translations state?

I wonder how an individual can believe in this folklore. There's a logical question regarding this, why he ruined his own sister's happiness if he loved her so much? Devi(?) Gandhari suffered 'Only' at the end, when all her demon incarnation sons died. There's nothing to hint that Shakuni cared for his sister. Huh!
