Does that mean that all the children of the upapandavas died during MB? If not then they could have staked claim to the throne and Krishna would not have to revive Uttaras unborn child after Ashwasthama killed him. BTW were any girls born to any of them? I haven't seen any reference to any daughters being born to any of the MB warriors!
I hope that the below would answer your question . I am not sure about the correctness of these facts but felt that it is worth reading .
Source : Wikipedia and Hindu Mythology
Upapandavas are not born in the same order of the pandavas . They looked very much like their fathers and all were equally handsome and great warriors . Among them Arjuna's son Srutakirti was a learned craftsman and sculptor , a quality which was rarely found among Kshatriya clan . Subhadra , saddened and shocked at the events happening in the dice hall with drew into the inner chambers of Hastinapur with Draupadi s children , so that they would not witness the pathetic condition of their mother. The children grew with constant hatred and revenge for the Kaurava ,cherishing a deep desire to avenge the insult caused to their mother and knew that a war was about to come and deeply prepared with great devotion for the same at Dwarka where they took their lessons under the guidance of Krishan . Prior to the Dice Hall incident , Arjuna , Bhima and Nakula were the mentors and trainers for Shrutavindhya , Satanika and Sutasoma . All remained bachelors throughout their life and never felt any attachment and allurement for any woman .Their lineage comes out in the following order :
Shrutavindhya(Prativindhya) was born to Yudhisthira and Draupadi and was the eldest of the Upapandavas. He was lost in Ekchakra Nagari when he was a baby and later token-battled his uncle Arjuna during Yudhishthira's Rajasuya Yajna campaign. Arjuna then realized that this was his nephew and returned with him to Indraprastha He was made the crown prince several years after as well .
During the Kurukshetra war, he would be more than twenty-four years old (extrapolating from his age during the Rajasyua incident). Shrutavindhya killed Karna's son Chitrasena on the fifteenth day of the battle.
Satanika was born to Nakula and Draupadi. He was the second oldest of Upapandavas. He was named after a famous Rajarsi in the Kuru lineage who had that name and he was considered to be an avatar of Visvadevas .
During the Kurukshetra War is also nominated as a deputy commander-in-chief of forces under Dhrishtadyumna, in charge of Vyuha planning. He killed the Kaurava king/ally Bhutakarma.
Sutasoma the son of Bhima and Draupadi was the third of the Upapandavas. He was favored the most by Arjuna, who gave him a bow, and horses for his chariot.
He played a major role in the battle for his uncle Sahadeva to help killing Shakuni . He also played a major role along with Yudhisthira and other Upapandavas in holding off Ashwatthama and Drona on the 15th day .
Srutakarma was born to Sahadeva and Draupadi and was the fourth among them . He was defeated by Shakuni during the battle, but not killed. He was also called Srutasena. He kills Dushsana's son, taking revenge for Abhimanyu s death as he was the most affected by his brother's death and also killing Shala, the younger brother of Bhurishravas.
Srutakirti was the son born to Arjuna and Draupadi, the youngest of the Upapandavas, he was born definitely after the Arjuna's return from adventures and would be very young at time of battle. His horses were supposed to bear the colour of kingfishers. He fought against Dushasana and Ashwatthama in the battle. He was the favourite little one of his brother Abhimanyu .
All of them survived till the end of the war but were massacred by Ashwatthama on the last day mistaking them for the Pandavas .
Ask CVs...🥱
But IMHO there might be two reasons for showing Abhimanyu to be born ahead of Draupadi's kids -1. CVs logic - Abhimanyu was a married man by the time Kurukshetra war happened. Only logical to show him to be the oldest.2. After the war, Yudi becomes king of HP, and then he is succeeded by Parikshit (Arjuna's grandson and Abhimanyu's son). Showing Abhimanyu to be older than Draupadi's sons might be to explain why Parikshit succeeded Yudi...then again, all of Drau's sons get killed on the 18th night of Kurukshetra, so it makes no difference. Lagtaa hai Starbharat mein Draupadi ke bete shaayad survive karenge...

From Vyas' MB, Draupadi's sons would be around 40-45 during the war considering Pandavas ruled over IP for 36 years before 13 years exile. Its highly unlikely that any of them would be younger than Abhimanyu, who's suppose to be 16 at the time of his death, unless Draupadi didn't conceive children in first 2-3 decades from her marriage. The Upapandavas should themselves be having teen-age children or even infant grandchildren at the time of war, though none of that is mentioned..
