Medha

I dunno whether this was in Minakshi's mind, but after reading this thread & your contributions, I respect this serial more. And I'm not being facetious.

I mean, just like people take bits & pieces from different Ramayans & put them together - Tulsidas, Kamban, Krittivas, Shiva Puran parts of Ramayan, et al and put them together, Swastik productions seems to be doing the same thing here. Arjun @ Rukmini's wedding, Arjun getting Karna a bride are clearly from the Indonesian versions, while Vrushali's name has been pulled from Mrityunjaya. Now, instead of having Arjun give Suprabha to Karna, he's giving Vrushali to him. I'm sure now that there is a real source of the Veena episode where Arjun had to wash Karna's feet.

In this serial, I now hope that Shikhandini too marries Arjun - maybe b4 the war, and accompanies him on his chariot on the day of battle. Only problem - one Pandava akshauni will miss a senapati. Oh, damn, just let Karna defect, since Bheeshma has excluded him from the war. Let him fight the first 10 days on the Pandava side, and the next 7 on the Kaurava. How much worse will it be than what it is now? 😆

Really Drau insults Karna at swayambar and he insults her at VH. Where is the love? As for Arjuna - ok I see some merit 2 that theory since he won her & Yuddhi ka illusion, butI have faith in Draupadi -- how could she be even a mini-Sati if not for devotion to all Patis?? Don't get me wrong she was a bit manipulative with Bhim...but, y stop there...any woman who has to handle 5 warriors has 2 b able to manipulate them a bit. And didn't Bheem not Karna get her the lotus?

===
@Sabhayata - I haven't seen Shikandini's secret love for Bhisma yet in Peter Brook's... the Pandavas find her wandering without food or water during their exile. She had not aged and looked even better. I either missed the war or fell asleep🤣🤣 Have 2 rewind n confirm. Last thing I remember is Krishna ka gita gyaan! 😳

I am ever extremely happy to stop people from committing the same mistakes that I committed.😈
Kidding! i am not saying that you shouldn't read the books. As i said, they are good, literature wise. Both are engaging reads. BUT!!😆

No, Draupadi is liked by me because of her manipulative tendencies and verbal lashing.😆

On a more serious note, I happen to believe that the only Ramayan that's valid is Valmiki & Vashistha's (the latter was said to exist, and if it does, it would be the only other contemporaneous work). On MB, only valid ones would be Vyasa's disciples - Sukhdev, Vaisampayana, Jainemaya and so on. Those are the only contemporaneous works around. As long as one restricts to them, I'm fine.

But the moment one goes outside, I start having issues. It's less in the MB, but more in Ramayan, where people go to Tulsidas, Kamban, even Adhyatma, which were written millenia later and are for all practical purposes fiction, even if devotional fiction. If one can go there, what would be wrong w/ Malaysian, or Cambodian or Thai versions? Similarly, for MB, if one can go by later authors, what's wrong w/ fanfiction.net or any other source?

I once watched Peter Brooke's version on DVD, and got to the point where Karna's chariot wheel got stuck, but the rest of the DVD was corrupted, and couldn't be viewed, except the very end.

Can anyone who's seen the whole thing describe what happened b/w that point, and the young boy bowing to Uttara @ the end? You can PM, if you don't think this is the right place for it.

Dont know much about ramayan, father knows better on that subject.
But from kambodia, i wanted to know if vyas was blind?
Because combodian mb says so.
It says that ambalika paled at seeing vyas, so he told satyavati that pandu would be pale.
He also told her that dhritrashtra will have 100 children.
And in the 100 children, i was dushala.
She wasnt no. 101,
