is it just me feeling this way?

I hate when actors say this kind of stuff. It turns people off. The same with some movie stars "I never wanted to be a movie star..it just happened" This is a slap in the face for every struggling actor in Mumbai. She even made fun of mythological TV shows. Does she not know that mythological shows are the only well made, good shows on Indian Television? Does she think she is being hip by talking nonsense? I liked her as Druapadi..now I don't know. Why cant they keep their mouth shut lol

Yes that was totally uncalled for. This is the best show on Indian Television and the show needs actors that believe in the character and show. I do not appreciate her attitude. She should thankful for being chosen to do that role. Instead she is showing off :(

Mythological shows were not so popular a few years ago...Trust me people are more into the saas-bahu serials, whether they are well-made or not. However, the trend has changed recently. N she is constantly asked the same question as to how she got the role, to which she gives the same answer again n again. I don't know wat u n the others found so offensive in this interview of hers. She seems to be a casual person, rather than arrogant or hip.

I am sorry I have to disagree. It is not very relevant if mythological shows were popular or not. If an actor is chosen as a lead for any show, the actor must show a little respect and appreciation for the opportunity (when you say I did not want it, but I got it when I showed up shows disrespect) The production house must have interviewed many many actresses for that role. Any actress would die for that role. When she says she just showed up not very enthusiastic but still ended up getting the role, she is disrespecting every actress who struggled to get the same role. The right thing to say is I am honored that I am chosen for this role (a little humility goes a long way) . I don't see any enthusiasm . One should show some enthusiasm even for small opportunities, this is the role of a life time. I don't know..it just does not sound right.
I have nothing against the actress, in fact I like her as Draupadi. But it would have been better if I had never read that interview.

Well, I don't think she meant any disrespect. She's only sharing her experience n being honest about how she felt BEFORE she came for the auditions. N yes, the production houses have looked for a lot of people. The search for Draupadi went longest if I'm not mistaken. She clearly states dat she was called on the last day of auditions, which indicates that she was probably the last choice, the producers had. N maybe, she did not realize the extent n scale of this serial until she came to the auditions. The previous version by Ekta Kapoor has been scary. I'm sure dat she's grateful since she's getting so much attention now. I agree dat she didn't show any humility, but she didn't show arrogance either. But then dat's my opinion.

Here's the problem. Look back at what you wrote " I don't think she meant any disrespect", "I'm sure dat she's grateful "... See, these are your "assumptions". And that is the problem. We have to ignore her "laughing about it" part and all the other unenthusiastic remarks and think "may be that's not what she meant"..I would have if I seen a little enthusiasm.. People read interviews and form their own opinion. Is she wants to be likeable she must show some enthusiasm, humility and be a little gracious. The truth is it's an honor to be even considered for that role.

The transition in the mind came to me when I got my lines and I wore the costume. I then realized that the show and my character was not at all loud and larger than life. It was a very real character," says Pooja.

She kind of very clearly states here that she transitioned and realised the importance of Draupadi's character. I dont think she was disrespecting her character, just she was not sure how she would be presented. Nobody can ever know how these things go. Look at Ekta's Mahabharata. It was lampooned. So, as a new actor, it was natural for her to have her doubts about the show. But the important thing is, she is playing her character well.

Exactly. She changed her thoughts, once she went to the auditions, n realized the extent of the serial. I guess it is the "jokes on Draupadi" part, that many people didn't like, n thought dat maybe she's not serious about her role n showing off. Anyway, as long as she plays her part well, it doesn't matter, how much enthusiastic she is about the role offscreen.
