Patrarekha, the kingdoms in the region at the time were Anga, Banga, Pundra and Pragjyotisha. Banga being what you describe, Pundra being purely central & south Bangladesh, Pragjyotisha being Guwahati - Narakasura & Bhagadatta's kingdom, and east of even that, Shonitpur, the kingdom of the asura giant Banasura. So my question was where did Baharampur fall? The map I cited seemed to suggest Anga.
Yeah, it probably did change in the Golden & Classical ages, but during the Dwapar Yuga, there would have been no resistance to Karna conquering it. The fact that it bears his name seems to suggest a connection.
